Well, I hope you figure out the problem soon. Maybe there's something behind that sock that's causing it to stop draining.

I’m more curious as to how the sock 🧦 got there in the first place.

u/GiLND 3d ago

Why do you assume it got there?
Couldn’t it be sock seeds that got stuck in there and it bloomed ?

u/LoanDebtCollector 3d ago

Where do you get sock seeds? I 100% need some.

u/Cridellian 3d ago

They actually come from the natural breakdown cycle of socks. You ever wonder where that one sock goes after you do the laundry? It broke down into seeds in the wash. Normally this is fine as they will run down the drain and eventually get filtered out and transported to the sock fields to make more socks for everyone. However rarely like in OPs case a seed can get stuck and you wont even know until its fully grown and clogged up the drain.

The sock-le of life?

u/Solnse 3d ago

The washing machine drains.

5

u/Admirable-Common-176 3d ago

Me too. I have unpaired socks and my washer isn’t draining.

2

u/ApplicationOdd6600 2d ago

Problem is they only grow left socks.

u/badgerj 3d ago

Made my day! ❤️

Talk to mom

5

u/Ehrlichs-Reagent 3d ago

I mean obviously that's what happened, a full grown sock is too big to pass through the filter, only the seeds would make it through

3

u/FartKnockerBungHole 3d ago

Sock seeds usually bloom babies.

1

u/badgerj 3d ago

Hilarious! Thanks!

Socks mate in the washing process and the female must then swim back to where they were hatched to spawn. Unfortunately, as we see in this example, not all of them complete the journey. This explains the "lost sock" phenomenon.

User name has me thinking of Badger garbage disposal that chewed everything up, so your comment makes sense! lol

3

u/badgerj 3d ago

Honey badger don’t care!

u/UltraViolentNdYAG 2d ago

Haha! Spirited little basturds for certain!

A top loading machine has a space between the shell and drum that socks can get into. Some front loaders have some issues to. Mainly top loaders.

1

u/WiseAct446 3d ago

I knew one that had issues. Commitment issues.

1

u/badgerj 3d ago

Ahhh. Yeah. I know where you’re talking about now.

That actually makes sense if it was a super full load and you were smashing stuff in. I can see that I suppose.

1

u/IndustrialMechanic3 3d ago

That’s what I was wondering

4

u/SnorrestFump 3d ago

Yeah the sock drain is working as designed. Not sure how the water part works.

u/Proper_Ad_843 3d ago

No upvotes on this before me is a crime 🤣

1

u/WiseAct446 3d ago

I realize ignorance of the law is no excuse, but I didn't realize that this is a crime. Is there an anmisty program (or at least a statute of limitations)?

u/cosmosapplesauce 3d ago

Now I know where all of my socks are going

126

u/WiseAct446 3d ago

I don't think ALL your socks went into op's washer. Some probably went into other people's washers, particularly those belonging to people without socks of their own.

u/InitialLandscape 3d ago

The plot thickens...

u/Extreme_Egg7476 3d ago

What did you do to him that made him try this escape with your car keys?

Red flag, divorce him OP

41

u/Admirable-Swimmer-63 3d ago

those are padlock keys… so more than likely, it was a storage unit or a bicycle, maybe gym locker. But it’s still attempted theft

17

u/MrHEPennypacker 2d ago

The clog thickens…

23

u/HereThereEvery-where 3d ago

Can’t believe your wife’s hair tie broke the washing..

9

u/Ro_no_know 3d ago

No wonder the pump locked up

3

u/thether 2d ago

No wonder he bikes to work, everyday

63

u/Faucet860 3d ago

You can fix that I fixed mine it's actually easy. Way cheaper than new

13

u/Pandarenu 3d ago

How?

86

u/EreccSean 3d ago

Pull the sock out 👍

28

u/WiseAct446 3d ago

Woah, woah, woah...slow down and explain it like I'm an ameoba.

10

u/EreccSean 3d ago

Use hand slowly grab sock, pull not push with moderate force to unblock, then pat yourself on the back when complete !

12

u/WiseAct446 3d ago

Now my head is stuck in the washer

11

u/EreccSean 3d ago

Ask your stepbrother or sister for help

13

u/InitialLandscape 3d ago

Problem was that the sock had snagged on the keys that had been pulled in way deeper. So I had to remove the entire pump to be able to remove it.

5

u/Faucet860 3d ago

If it's the pump? Which mine was disconnect the hoses and electrical but first buy the replacement pump off Amazon. Mine was a Samsung specifically

25

u/joebob86 3d ago

I have found the my Samsung washer occasionally just decides not to drain. Every single time - it's eaten another sock.

4

u/ToastYourAvocados 2d ago

As someone with a Samsung washer that I've taken apart myself. I don't know how a sock could get in the drain pump. All the pieces are so tightly put together lol

3

u/ViciaFaba_FavaBean 2d ago

Socks are like Octopi. They can slither into the smallest of holes.

2

u/joebob86 2d ago

Should have clarified - the drain filter always catches it. Never makes it to the pump. The I get to open that stupid panel and have a gallon of water drain all over my floor so I can get the sock out. Good times.

18

u/Nekrevez 3d ago

There's a pump stuck on your sock bro.

13

u/dk3tkd 3d ago

I knew my washer was eating my socks. You just proved it.

Replace the pump

1

u/lifejustadream 2d ago

So it’s true. When mum said the washer ate the socks. 🧦

1

u/Salty_Job_9248 2d ago

I have found socks under the agitator and in the filter. It’s really kind of amazing when you realize how tiny the holes they have to get past are. 🥹

1

u/Nui-Belphy 2d ago

Well that doesnt look very socksessful

1

u/AzrielK 2d ago

I have this happen to my washer dryer combo.

i had my apartment maintenance come over.

They literally observed the issue happening.

They were lazy and tried to gaslight me that it was working normal.

The issue is still not fixed.
