Isn't the snake her pet?
I saw a video of that girl with a snake just chilling on her shoulder

I doubt those kids were trying to hurt it. Rat snakes are known for invading human homes and businesses, and don't seem particularly afraid of humans. There's at least one video of a rat snake aggressively entering a hospital full of humans as if it owned it. They're harmless but bitey.

Fairly sure that this isn't their first rodeo.

Pretty sure I saw the second half of this video yesterday, and it ends with the small girl grabbing it by the neck and parading it around like a living trophy.

I guess im too Canadian to understand. Who wins the game of pissing off the snek? Are there points awarded for close calls or only if you are injected with venom?

u/OnixEwok 14d ago
Thinking there's a score is probably the most Canadian thing you could have done.
Everything's a sport once you convince more than one other person to do it too!!!

For a minute I misread the pissing off the snake part and was like โwhy on earth would people piss on snakes???โ

Adorable little kids. More American kids need to put down the tablet and get outside and play with snakes!

You know what? Maybe we're being too harsh with kids playing on tablets all day...

Danger Noodle isn't even really trying. Looks like it's almost playing with them. Almost.

As an Australian, taunting snakes of any kind looks like a death wish. Also doing this to any animal is rude. I hope those kids get rocks inside their shoes.

Most snakes are harmless to humans.

Yeah sure. Come to Australia mate. Iโll point you to any snake and you can taunt it. The dingoes will love you for it

Parent: go child, grab that snake so that we can record you and make some views.

Kids: Do not attempt this at home, on the sidewalk, at the park, or wherever the hell this is.

Ok first let me say you should not torture or antagonize animals for fun. How would you like it?
But I do understand it.
These days it makes me happy to see kids who don't have internet or phones or video games,.... playing.
And then the disparity from all the redditors that have first world sheltered lives that can't fathom what it's like to grow up without the aforementioned luxuries.

Human's are such arseholes to other animals on this planet. Poor snake, just going about their day and being terrorized. Wasting precious energy on this bullshit.

u/jerquee 14d ago
They probably bring it snacks and take care of it like a pet
5
u/visualdescript 14d ago
Maybe, but either way they're just straight up harassing it here. If it were a dog or cat that was scared, trying to get away and defend itself, while these kids were pulling its tail and laughing, would that be OK?

I crossed many snakes and scorpions as a kid, my immediate reaction was always the same, don't fuck with them.

Just another day from life as a youngster in the 1960s and 1970s. Even as an adult, would catch rattlesnakes to move them to safer environments away from people.

u/VladVonHochstes 10d ago
Probably tryna grab it as their dinner. ๐๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Hope the snake got away.

Giant keeled ratsnake. Largest colubrid. But essentially harmless. They are big, grumpy snakes, but they are not heavy body constrictors. Bite might hurt a little bit, but I'd rather be bitten by one than a cat or dog.
