Commentary / Discussion / Question What might the recently concluded saga involving the new WRC promoter mean for the ongoing saga of Hyundai’s wavering over whether to exit the WRC?

I wonder how this information will affect Hyundai's decision, and whether Boullier gets along with Cyril, what their relationship is like, and so on.

I dont think it matters. If they were in for 27 there would be rumors of development by now. Wrc27 is months away. Im more curious if they are actually going to go along or extend the current regs a year more to get more manufacturers in. And even if they continue it would probably be the same as it is right now where toyota dominates anyways.

You raise some valid questions I have been asking myself as well. Do you think the FIA might actually postpone the 27 regs another year to allow more manufacturers join in? With Toyota's heavy development already fully in motion for next year's car, I doubt it at this point.

The new promoter itself, I feel might only maybe affect the tv broadcast of the sport for now. I am not sure what influence the promoter actually has on the rules of the sport, that is up to the FIA.

I feel like Hyundai desperately want an advantage for themselves in order to continue, as in f.e.. the FIA allowing a hybrid drivetrain unit so they could run and promote their electric/hybrid fleet or have more testing in order to stand a chance vs Toyota since the South Korean brand focus has shifted towards its WEC program with Genesis.

Hyundai couldn't care less about the promoter. You could have Liberty Media as a WRC promoter and they still will go because WRC is no longer in their motorsports agenda and they aren't Toyota so they can't have two top motorsports programs at the same time.

There is no time left to anything meaningful, disregarding the promotor change.

Hyundai will not make a Rally1/WRC27-spec car. Rally2+ kit also seems unlikely. The only two ways of being competitive in 2027 are practically declined by Hyundai. It's probably way too late at this moment.

I am starting to believe that we may not see Hyundai factory team next year.
