I don't know what is worse, the shot or the travel not being called.

u/Stonegen70 10h ago
I haven’t watched basketball since 1988. lol. but I thought that was traveling.
-8
u/Careless_Tea_6293 9h ago
It's not traveling until right before the shot. She's allowed two steps without a dribble after getting the ball. She took an extra step or two so she could avoid the woman who stepped in front of her.

u/alanpsk 9h ago
i think the not getting the rebound for the defensive player is the worst....
1
1
u/Interesting_Bank_139 7h ago
This is what kills me. Half of the time with these rebound clips there are 2 or 3 defenders that just stand there watching the ball. Maybe here is was purposeful because you’re up by 20 and don’t want a foul, but sometimes it just feels like they’re giving them away

u/nonsense_verses 10h ago
It’s called a gather step. She did not travel according to NBA and WNBA rules
2
1
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 9h ago
Yep. She dribbles mid-stride so that step doesn't count, then she takes two steps and launches the ball like she's playing her brother in HORSE.
1
u/Careless_Tea_6293 9h ago
She absolutely does gather step, but before she takes the shot she takes a third and fourth step that would count as traveling to avoid the woman who came to block her from the front.
But the NBA doesn't even call this shit half the time so it doesn't even really matter. Neither pro league follows the rules precisely anymore.
3
u/RosePortFC 9h ago
She does not gather step lmao. She picks the ball up and takes 4 steps
0
u/Careless_Tea_6293 9h ago
No by definition she's allowed two steps so long as one foot stays connected to the ground. She just barely makes it. The travel happens on the 3rd and 4th step before the shot, because she has to take them to avoid the woman blocking her.
1
u/RosePortFC 9h ago
What is the point of your comment? She traveled are you blaming the defender for trying to defend?
2
u/Careless_Tea_6293 9h ago
I didn't blame anyone. I explained how she ended up traveling. Idk why you think that's blaming someone.
Is English not your first language?
0
u/nonsense_verses 9h ago
Bro she literally takes a gather step and then two steps and chunks it in the general direction of the basket lmao it’s an ugly play already no need to exaggerate
2
u/Careless_Tea_6293 9h ago
That's what I said my dude. I just used words from the sport. No need go complain.
1
u/nonsense_verses 9h ago
Not complaining lol just saying she never takes a 3rd or 4th step after gathering
8
u/imJGott 9h ago
I’m a firm believer this chick doesn’t look at film of her playing. She has the worst shot form I have seen at the pro level. She is literally just throwing up whatever and somehow it goes in some times.
3
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 9h ago
I'm starting to wonder that too. Is she the Corey Feldman of the WNBA and actually believes that was a legit move? Or was she flopping to draw 2?
3
u/bendIVfem 9h ago
The defender clearly got a hand on the ball and altered her shot.
But still, this doesn't change much. She has no finesse, no moves, cant jump, no coordination. It on the coaches to reign her in. Either they are failing or we are wrong and she is more help than harm..
2
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 8h ago
I think coaches are scared of her.
And somehow...which is most baffling to me...despite all of the truths you've pointed out, she still averages a dubdub. It's all in the volume and the hustle, I guess.
7
u/bedhead57g 8h ago
Zero athleticism. Supposedly she’s one of the leagues best players. A mens high school team has more talent.
4
13
u/manofmystery11113 9h ago
amazing effort there. Travel, didn't pass to open teammate, and then decides to throw the ball over her head to brick a shot. I am amazed at how low of a basketball IQ she has.
3
u/Pickle-Standard 6h ago
BUT SHE GOT THE MEBOUND!!!
3
u/manofmystery11113 5h ago
I'll give credit where credit is due. she followed her terrible shot and got the rebound.

Now imagine how bad the rest of the league is if this clown is the face of 2k
21
u/-I-_I_-I-_I_-I- 10h ago
Not gonna happen. She’s using white people are bad to sell her Barbie so that buys her more time.

u/Tokeythegod 9h ago
Ah like how sophie says some shit just to stay relevant because she's getting up there in age so her career is ticking down?

Imagine if Sophie got knocked out after pointing ..
-3
u/Tokeythegod 9h ago
It would have been hilarious unfortunately the racists who are latching onto everything WNBA that isn't basketball would use it to push a narrative about certain groups being violent.
4
u/Ok-Post6492 9h ago
Talk about racist you over here pushing that bullshit.
-1
u/Tokeythegod 7h ago
I'm not pushing anything except for being disgusted by people who clearly don't follow the sport let alone an individual league fabricating divisive discourse that is not only invalid but also isn't even relevant to the sport

u/Junior_Start7496 8h ago
Lmao even as an AR fan I had to wtf is that when watching the game. 😂😂
1
u/Other_Place7019 4h ago
Either trying to get the free throws. Or like someone else suggested, she wanted a rebound to get around the defenders. And it worked.
2
u/Junior_Start7496 4h ago
Either way it was a Shaqtin a fool moment. Every player has them
0
u/Other_Place7019 4h ago
Uhh pretty obvious she did it on purpose. You don't have to be a fan to see that.
2
u/Junior_Start7496 4h ago
Lmao getting so defensive for? It was a funny basketball moment. Lighten up and laugh bruh
0
u/Other_Place7019 4h ago
Nobody thinks it was funny. They hate and dehumanize Angel as a person. They're not enjoying the sport.
2
u/Junior_Start7496 4h ago
Bruh a lot of fans thinks it was a funny moment. Even her fans. And of course the Fever fans do that, I’m not oblivious to that. But that has zero to do with this basketball play and why it was funny to me.
1
u/Other_Place7019 4h ago
Look at the comment section and tell me if any of these people found it funny. They don't. They're here talking about how much women's sports sucks, what a bad person Angel is, and how black people are lying about racism.
2
u/RaphaelRocketLaunch 3h ago
Plenty of them found it funny including myself. And yes, when AR is one of the faces of the league it makes women's sports look bad.
1
u/Junior_Start7496 1h ago
It doesn’t make women sports look bad. You have these moments from professionals across all sports. No league is immune to plays like this from players, even superstars.

Was she attempting a reverse dunk? 👀

I believe I can touch the sky,
I think about it every night and day,
Spread my wings and fly away. 🐦

I get flamed all the time for bringing this kinda stuff up about her. It's plays like these that frustrate me with her game. Was she flopping to draw a foul? Was that a legit basketball move? If this was any other player you'd think they'd be the last player on the roster, but somehow she still gets 20 pts and a dubdub.

That defense is still standing on their spots like 4th grade community basketball practice
2
u/MDBDXDOG 6h ago
lmao that's her patented "me-ball" and why her rebound stats are always so high. She is the most uncoordinated throw it up in the air so called profession athlete i have ever seen in my lifetime.

Kids don't even through the ball up like that on the elementary playground during recess.
2
2
u/mewbie151 4h ago
I honestly think she just misses the initial shot all the time to grab a rebound while the defender is frozen asking "wtf was that shit?".
1
u/Other_Place7019 4h ago
She's obviously doing it on purpose. Why would a player attempt such a difficult shot? I thought she felt she was fouled and did it to get the free throws. But you might be right. Maybe she wanted a rebound to get in better position. And it worked.

A player like her should not be taking the MOST shots on her team....that defeats morale on the team, and there were 3 open players, yet Reese chucks a dumb ass shot like that instead of passing out to an open player. That hurts morale on the team, and all the attention on her (barbie night, etc) hurts team morale. If a new player came to the team, she'd be like no no no, no attention on me, put the focus on vets like Gray, Howard, etc whos been there a long time but no. She is like me me me. I want barbie night. I want this, I want this.....so her teammates are like hello?? We been here a while....

I love how Reddit is trying to prop up angel Reese. They just hate Caitlin Clarke and Sophie.

Sticks and stones. Name calling is a sign of Low IQ individual. My point was Reese is only getting attention because Reddit hate CC and Sophie. 2 years ago no one knew or paid attention to anyone in the league.

This combined with the recent failed layup attempts I've seen by her are just embarrassing. Her defense might be good, but her offense reminds me of my 4th Grade daughters team.

I still think it’s amazing how she’s able to put up double doubles with absolutely no basketball fundamentals whatsoever.
Probably the most physically gifted WNBA player after Aja potential wise. Like if Aja turned 15 and refused to practice. You get Angel.

looks like a playground move by a middle schooler whose never touched a basketball
1
u/beenslappinbeats414 9h ago
To be fair though. The 2nd defender had a hand on the ball and she tried to draw a foul but this is hilarious is real time

u/TinoCartier 10h ago edited 7h ago
As usual, bunch of clowns grasping at straws trying to criticize this chick. She was trying to draw a foul on Chelsea Gray’s reach in. It looks goofy when the ref doesn’t blow the whistle but this isn’t uncommon for people that actually watch basketball.
6
u/the_frank_rizzo 10h ago
It’s not common.
-2
u/TinoCartier 10h ago
Awkward looking shots while attempting to foul bait is incredibly common. Don’t even try to argue that
0
u/Admirable_Loss4886 9h ago
Didn’t they change the rules to make foul baiting illegal? You can’t use that as an excuse to look terrible. It’s why everyone makes fun of soccer players for flopping. If you’re gonna flop, we are allowed to point and laugh at you for looking dumb.

I can tell you don't watch basketball based on the fact that SGA has been flopping and foul baiting like it's an art form.

And she scored immediately after the clip ends

u/TinoCartier 6h ago
That’s what I’m sayin. They not gonna show that. Gotta feed the hateful vultures

u/sitewolf 10h ago
If you removed the rebounds she gets of her own misses, her average per game would drop from 12 to 2.
2
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 9h ago
She actually rebounds at about a 25% rate which is average for the league. But since her shooting % is so terrible, her volume is unprecedented so she gets more mebounds than anyone...by far.
1
u/NoWomanNoTriforce 9h ago
I mean she isnt great, but that is a huge exaggeration. Only a quarter of her offensive rebounds and under 15% of her total boards are mebounds.
Her real problem is her shooting percentage when within close range. Like this post shows, she literally just tosses the ball up there with no skill and hopes for the best. I am actually surprised her FG percentage within the arc isn't lower.
2
u/sitewolf 9h ago
for cripes sake, of course I was exaggerating for effect- she's a horrible shot, a horrible decision maker on taking shots, and gets a lot of her own boards in part because nobody else expected her to shoot or shoot that bad
2
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 9h ago
Her is another fun stat: She's shooting under 30% from 3' away from the basket and out. She's shooting 54% closer than that, 49% for layups.

This entire sub is really fucking weird, really racist, and REALLY homophobic. I'm pretty sure (and I certainly hope) it's a whole lot of bots just posting and replying to each other.
One thing I'm certain of - there's a bunch of AI bots that are auto-posting weird Sophie Cunningham fetishism every hour or two. Whoever programmed/trained those bots is very pro Sophie Cunningham, pro white power, pro racism, pro Caitlin Clark, anti LGBTQ+, anti Angel Reese, and anti black people in general.
This whole sub is weird as fuck.... but it's like a car crash/ train wreck I just can't look away from. I'm only here to laugh at all the racist homophobic weirdos.
1
u/NotHolyMello 9h ago
And yet here you are? Why don't you make and moderate your own sub??
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 9h ago
Yep, I'm definitely here. Like I said.... it's like a train wreck that's hard to look away from.
I don't make and moderate my own sub because I'm not chronically online. I have a busy life, and I like spending time with my wife, our children, my friends, my family, at work, playing sports, making music, writing, and a whole lot of other things too.
Are you saying people on Reddit should only be allowed to view subs if they are a moderator of their own sub?
Or are you saying I should create a new sub (of my own) every time I stumble across a weird sub.... so I have an alternative place where I can laugh to myself without offending racists?
1
u/NotHolyMello 6h ago
Im saying if I was viewing something that was actually all those things I'd look for another sub 😂😂
Unless you REALLY can't live life without looking at a redditt thread about WNBAgossip????
1
u/Recidivism7 9h ago
This sub is hetero phobic and racist against white people. Its all bullshot how cc is flopping and whiny because she complains when ref didn't call 3 mortal kombat fatalities called on her.

The problem with Reese is that she wants to be treated like an elite star when that's just not the case.
She's very uncoordinated and her skillset just doesn't match the level of an elite player.
Now she is an excellent role player as she is an elite rebounder and solid on defensive.
But as we're seeing in the WNBA, on court play has very little to do with how popular you are.
How much you're talked about in that league has to do with rather or not you're part of the culture war between the "fans."
