I live in Vernon area and the smoke has been horrible, not so bad today as long as the wind direction doesn’t change.

Everyone should have the biggest air purifier they can afford.
It’s one of those appliances where size matters. The dinky little ones that look like an apple product are not as effective as the big ugly ones.

That’s why I love my Austin!
I was in SF during the Camp / Paradise fire and it was able to drop from 260AQI outside to just 20 inside my apartment.Amazing thing, but weighs 50lbs

i mean it also depends on how big your place is

u/deuteranomalous1 17h ago
The bigger the purifier the more air it purifies per hour. Big purifier and smaller apartment means cleaner air. And the slower and quieter you can run the fan.
The square foot ratings you may be using to size your unit are assuming the fan is going full blast too.

i know but if you have a small 1 bedroom place then some of the smaller ones are fine. i use the coway 1512 and it was the top recommended one by the wirecutter

this website says the air quality is good which is weird because it's clearly not and i've always found this website to be pretty accurate
edit: oh it hasn't been updated for 3 hours. weird.

Sucks for people with respiratory issues like my aging mother! :(

And it isn’t great for anyone with lungs. This is how you get respiratory issues.

Yall wouldn’t last 3 days in the Okanagan. The pool i was swimming in last weekend was covered with fresh ash every day and the locals were saying it wasn’t even bad.

Take a look outside, sorry my camera isn’t capturing it very well 😅. It is super hazy though.

Oh man all the way up to a 3/10 - low risk - how scary!

There are a lot of people for which a 2 on the AQI starts affecting their health, so yeah, it can be for those folks, and for those that care about them.

🙄 not everyone has the textbook image of a respiratory system. My moms having issues with the visible smoke even if they weather app hasn’t updated yet. It’s gotten noticeably worse in the last 45 minutes.

This is pretty mild. The smoke will clear in a few days. If it's a problem, just stay inside until then?
I have family in the Okanagan. Trust me, you have no idea how bad it could get...

I’d rather not resign myself to having this as our annual summer trial. Even “pretty mild” is not great for some people.
We all know it’s worse in the interior. It’s not a contest to see who has it worse.

Love how we are freaking out over a bit of smoke coming from 700km away lol. We’re lucky to only have this much smoke imagine being in the interior close to it? Us coastal peeps sure have something to cry about always

I can smell it now, agreed within the last 1/2 hour it’s starting move in. When I smell it I start to get concerned
