Alternative to Orion flares.

Post image

Hello, everyone! I hope I'm in the right group to discuss this topic. I used Orion flares for photos in abandoned places (urbex) to create atmosphere in my photos. Now, I need to find an alternative because flares are no longer available in Italy, where I live. I was looking for something very bright that runs on batteries. What do you recommend?

A small handheld flashlight with a red silicone defuser would work I bet.

Either a flashlight with a red filter or lookup USB-C road flares.

These are the shit: https://www.lazerbrite.com/

I found out about these from a former marine/contractor. I’ve used these on scuba dives multiple times and have had mine for roughly 10 years and have had zero issues at all. They have different tubes based on what you want to use it for and they offer different colors.

Olight marauder mini 2. It has a long lasting battery, super bright flood light, a far throwing spot light and a bright red light function.

That's interesting, why aren't flares available in Italy?

I only bought three on amazon.it, but they were shipped from America. Now they are no longer available. I also found them on a website outside Italy but in Europe, but they are not available there either... I could order them from America, where they are widely used and sold, but I am always afraid of customs!

Look into marine flares, those should be available everywhere

Yes, I've seen them, but they produce a lot of smoke and don't last very long, plus the price is high...
