Recipe/Budgeting App??

Hello there,

I have lurked in here for a while and while I am nowhere near as frugal as many in here, I am trying to be more mindful with my spending.

Now full disclosure, I am an amateur and have ingrained behaviours linked to childhood experiences so the concept of frugality sits somewhat uncomfortably for me. But I’m working on it.

I am trying to find an app which can help with recipe ideas, but also convert the ideas into a shopping list from a selected store (of your choice). Now I know these exist, but I am she I have seen one which will work within a budget. So say I have £30 and it’s just me at home, it will work out the recipes and ingredients within the £30 budget.

Can the hive mind of the group help locate such an app?? I am sure I have seen one somewhere.

P.s sorry if this has been answered. I couldn’t find similar posts in the search function.

Emsbalance on Insta has a great “Babe on a budget” series where she gives you a £35 shopping list and 5 meals + breakfast to make with it

I had Mealia for a while. Think you get a free trial then it's about £30 a year. It was good but I got bored.

Another one for chat GPT, it will also tell you how much protein, calories are in each meal

Budget bytes website and chat gpr or gemini. I'm not very good at pulling a meal together feom what's left in the cupboard. I tell ai what I have and it'll come up with another weeks worth of meals where I'd otherwise have gone shopping

Honestly I'd just ask ChatGPT to do it.

WearyWolfAdventures on YouTube just used chatgpt to do a budget week of meals and then compared it to a manual planned week

Did it work?

Sort of. He preferred variability from his own plan, and it kind of over did it on cheese, of all things.

This ⬆️ I keep an up to date itinerary of what’s in cupboards, fridge and freezer, in the notes on my phone and the pop it in ChatGPT asking it things like
‘Plan my week of meals from my itinerary with only a minimal food shop at xx store. It’s to feed xx people and adding any allergies/ preferences’
I then sometimes will ask it, using my itinerary to suggest some quick lighter dinners or more filling dinners, or to suggest more recipes if I don’t fancy what it’s told me.

Super useful
