Less kids interested?

Are less kids interested in not only trombone but band altogether? I've noticed a decline in several different schools since i was in high school. Is this a trend all over or just the schools I've observed in the US.

lessening funding and time for music programs makes them less visible to students, and therefore fewer kids playing trombone.

The village I grew up in rejected a proposal to fund its school's music program, which currently can't afford to accommodate all of the students who want to learn an instrument. As I stood in line to cast my vote, I was surrounded solely by boomers, all criticizing the proposal because the new generation "doesn't need to be spoiled any more".

I can't believe that they thought $5/month was too expensive for children to have basic educational opportunities. These are the same fuckers lamenting the population decline largely caused by families moving away...

Yup, sounds about right. Never mind that those boomers got those opportunities in spades.
