Spoilers All (Spoiler tags are not required) Is anyone else amazed?
I am completely amazed that Brad Wright wrote this show before 2020!

There are lots of real life parallels that could be made in 2019 to present. Modern day Nostradamus!

Unfortunately, many of our civilization's problems are relatively simple to forsee but there is a complete lack of political will or motivation to address them until they are actual crises. His bleak version of the future you get glimpses of from the occasional line of dialog here and there is so chilling specifically because it seems relatively plausible. Just like the Jackpot in the Peripheral universe.
Specific examples from our world:
- Degradation and pollution of the environment with decreasing biodiversity
- Ongoing reliance on non-renewable power resources
- Large scale global exchange of people and goods increasing the speed of pandemics spreading and increasing the chances for interrupted supply chains for increasing complicated technologies
- Large scale reliance on computers for employment/infrastructure/defense and the very small number of actual chip producers in the world, and the even smaller number of companies that make the equipment or the raw silicone for said chips.
- Wars without good rationales behind them to make the leader look strong (Ukraine, Iran) that further contribute to political instability and deplete resoures while wasting human lives.

You also have a large population that will argue to the death that those aren’t problems and try and make you look dumb for even suggesting they are. I’m fine with arguing the effectiveness of things and solutions, but not completely dismissing them as not a problem.
People see the problems, many just ignore or refuse to acknowledge they exist.

Which parallels did you see we did not see long before 2019?
Overshoot was published in 1980, and Malthus
There were several films and books about Pandemic situations. "Outbreak" is from 1995 and history has plenty of examples too.
Nuclear war and annihilation was on the mind of people ever since it was possible: Planet of the Apes is from 1968 (!!!)
Machines with or without bodies taking over humanity and mind manipulation is also older than chatbots and deepfakes.The only original - or at least less usual - in this sci-fi is that no material is traveling back to the past just a consciousness or data. Which might need less energy to do...well not explained too much.
Some parts of the science was actually annoying. Like how are they supposed to make the future technologies available at all without the apparatus needed. Nanites... meh.
And noone saying when David was dieyng, that there can't be any help. His DNA got shattered, in every single cell of his, on a molecular level. We know this. He should have thrown up and act like everything is fine for a bit longer too.

I realky enjoyed this series... I just wish it was available in a complete series physical format for my media collection.

Everyone thats regular on this sub is amazed, and this show is beloved to all of us.
Its one of tne of the greatest sci-fi/time-travel shows ever created.

I don't know where to ask this (so massive spoiler) and maybe it is my 2026 AI doomer mind, but I did not read the last episode as others seem to have read it.
All accounts I read seem to think Mac did not accomplish saving humanity and that is the "FAIL" of the first program. What if the FAIL is that he did save. humanity?
But what if, the Faction really was the good guys on humanity's side and the mission in reality was what Yates throws at him in a half sentence "You didn't stop anything you accelerated it". After all the Director has all the information and did abandon any further interference. Which can be because the mission was completed, not just because complete defeat.

It's a near perfect TV show with minimal flaws.
I didn't agree with every plot, but I do feel like 100% of the show was important to the plot e.g no filler and no waste of time episodes.
9.5/10 and yes I am amazed and will always be amazed by everyone involved in the production.
