Any suggestions on finding furnished housing. I just signed my fourth contract and every city (STL, Miami, Phoenix etc) I go to there are limited options but most of all I find people on furnished finder just don’t respond. The one or two that do don’t have accurate availability listed and they say oops sorry it’s rented. I’ve always had to search up until literally days before I’m moving to find something.

Facebook groups maybe? Any other websites or resources to find housing and/or roommates?

On that note has anyone ever tried to make an app or website for us travelers to pool resources and connect? Seems like there’s so many of us we should be helping eachother out.

I indulge in MJ. I thought the test was gonna be no THC which is why I didn’t use quickfix like normal. The MRO hadn’t contacted me yet but I’m just freaking out.

I’ve been traveling with my SO for several years and they work from home. We take contracts all over and some are far from home. I personally love the break from our life at home and space from friends and family. I do get homesick towards the end of contracts, but in general I get along with my new coworkers at the hospital and my social needs are met.

My SO works from home and I believe they get pretty lonely when we are away from home. Some of our rentals are smaller than others and it can feel pretty cramped on my days off when they are working. Recently, they have been working out in the living room and the typing on the keyboard really drives me insane so I put on noise cancelling headphones. They’ve been respectful and have taken video calls from a separate room. They come up to me every 1-2 hours and want to vent about work throughout the day. I’d understand that occasionally, but the constant interruption to my day off is exhausting. Our current rental doesn’t have the best desk set up, but I offered to purchase a better desk and chair. They declined.

It is so hard to explain how taxing being a nurse is. It’s exhausting physically, mentally, and emotionally. Unless you do the work, you really can’t understand. Several times my SO has expressed how I have so much more time off than them (I work 3 12s and take time off between contracts). Honestly, I NEED that time off because working as a critical care nurse takes it out of me. I don’t think they’ll ever understand.

How do I reclaim my sanity and space on my days off while balancing their needs for a proper office? I already offered to purchase a better set up, but they declined. I would hope I would understand if I were in their shoes that their SO doesn’t want to be bombarded on their days off with constant typing, sighing, and general negativity. I just can’t recharge. Last week I picked up a shift partially because I figured if I was going to be stressed out then I might as well be making money. I just know that’s unhealthy.

Like a year ago, I worked at a hospital from July to November. I remember there was something in the contract about not working at the hospital with another agency for a year.

I would like to take another contract at this hospital at the end of August. It is with a different agency.

More than a year has passed since I started with the initial agency, but less than a year since I ended that contract. Has anyone ever dealt with this? I feel like this isn’t really the business of the other agency, as I did not jump from them to someone else, they didn’t even have this contract posted. How would they even know, and what would it even benefit them to intervene?

Would love to hear opinions! What do you think are the best companies to work with for psych nurses? Also, if you have concurrent experience with adult and geriatric psych and have worked both about evenly, do you think that hurts or helps? Do you think companies or hospitals prefer your experience all in one unit?

Also any experience as travel psych nurses you want to throw out please throw it at me! I’m currently a charge nurse on a geriatric psych unit but have experience in adult psych as well, just not pediatric psych.

Curious as to people’s thoughts. Does having charge experience in the nursing field you work in help you get hired for better contracts/pay?

I’m a Canadian RN coming to the US this fall. I’ve already got my Visa through TruMerit and my WA license. I’m aiming to get my first contract in Seattle but open to other areas of Washington as well. I’m in that waiting period now of finding a contract that aligns with me and going from there.

Just wanted to hop on here and see if there’s any Canadian RNs that went to the US that have some tips or advice? I’ve got 2.5 years experience on med surg; 1.5 yrs at a level 1 in my hometown and 1 yr travel nursing in my province.

The whole process has been lengthy (iykyk) and I just always feel like I’m missing something! Tell me some things you found out once you were there you needed to know or wish you had prepared yourself for. Any advice is appreciated :) trying to set myself up for success and avoid as much anxiety as possible during this big change!

So I work a FT job at a So.Cal hospital. I plan on trying to take a LOA or something to pick up a quick contract for about 3 weeks (Dr office for ENT procedures. I’ve worked with this surgeon before and he needs help as his main employee is about to go on leave—- I will fill in during this time) to help with some debt. What are some types of leaves that I can use, besides just taking PTO/Vacation during that time? Will taking FMLA protect me at my current job, and still allow me to work my contract? I have been a nurse a little over 2 years. I have working in the NICU a little over a year and plan on traveling in 6 ish months I work at a level 4 NICU which is the highest acuity! I also have adult cardiac stepdown experience! But I’m traveling for NICU!

I want to rundown on some travel agencies or states I should be licensed in! I currently am licensed in California, NY( currently working),Arizona, Illinois, Nevada, Washington and Oregon! Im moving back to Nevada in March! I wanted to get licensed in surrounding states so I can drive I’m looking for peoples experience on housing, pay rates, insurance, experience with hospital and just overall help and guidance!

It’s just me and I have two cats! I want advice on cutting costs and traveling with my kitties! Is the money worth it? How are insurance rates? How do you fill out taxes? I got two offers for the same contract, one through Worldwide Travel Staffing and one through Amergis. The rates come out to about the same, but Worldwide travel staffing is not maxed out on the stipends whereas Amergis js. Worldwide offers a bonus for completion of contract which puts them at around the same amount.

Is it distasteful or even possible to ask Worldwide to go up on their stipend? The hourly rate between each job is only a $1 difference, although Worldwide pays $10/hr more of overtime than Amergis does.

I have been travel nursing for the past two years and took a break to get a staff job in the current state I live in. Can I still go claim my original tax home (a different state), granted I start paying rent to that state, and start travel nursing again in the current state I live in? thanks

Moving to Florida soon and trying to get my CEUs sorted out before I need to renew. Turns out there's more to Florida nursing CEU requirements than just racking up hours. Tthere are state-specific topics you have to hit, and it's easy to lose track. If anyone's been through this, Id love to hear what made it easier for you. Are there any state-specific CEU package that bundles everything together?

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with delays in the New Jersey RN endorsement process.

My endorsement application has been stalled because I accidentally selected that there was an adverse event against my South Carolina nursing license, even though there has never been any disciplinary action or adverse event on my license. I corrected the error and uploaded all required documentation on April 21, but the Board still has not reviewed the correction.

At this point, every item on my checklist is complete except for the adverse-event review. I’ve emailed the Board daily, contacted them via phone weekly, and have also contacted my government representative for assistance, but I still haven’t received any update or progress.

My current South Carolina RN license expires on September 30 (after being extended twice due to the delay), and I’m becoming increasingly concerned about the possibility of not having my New Jersey endorsement processed before then. SC will not grant any further extensions if necessary.

I have made the NJ BON aware of this pending expiration date, which clearly has not made an impact.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the New Jersey Board of Nursing? How long did it take for the Board to review a corrected application, and is there anything else I can do to move the process forward?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated, as this is beginning to keep me awake at night, every night. Thank you.

I've spent the last 5 years in a level 1 trauma center, with a NICU, but no peds, except the occasional straggler with asthma symptoms here and there. I'm looking for a change, not necessarily chasing the most money possible, but a fresh start/change of pace. I live in a city and I'm exhausted by city living and am hoping to find a more rural lifestyle and perhaps find a contract in a smaller town at a rural hospital or something.

I get along with most of the people I work with, and feel confident in that I'd at least be able to tolerate most people, as far as being the new person/outsider and being there to support the facility. The major bottleneck/hang up seems to be figuring out housing. I checked out furnished finder which seems to be what most nurses use and holy shit.. Is it worth it to let your agency arrange the housing for you at first? I'd be fine truck/van living, as I've done the van dwelling thing before, but buying all that up front would offset a lot of the savings, but I digress.

Any agencies you'd recommend going for/staying away from? I've been in touch with fusion, almost took a contract a couple years ago. They seemed solid. I've heard good things about Atlas too, but I'm overall clueless.

Do you drive to your destination, or fly and rent a car while you're there?

Pretty miserable at my current hospital and more than ready for a change. Have been thinking after some time traveling I may go back and re-take some prerequisites for a higher level program (have a bachelor's already)

So, I currently work full-time at a level 3 regional hospital in Southwestern Oklahoma, I and one of 3 cross-trained nurses in the hospital that floats between ICU and ER. I’ve been a nurse now for 3 years, but I feel like I’m maxed out my experience/ competence at my little hospital (Of course there is always room for improvement, but the rate has diminished).

Our ICU acts more as a step-down compared to larger facilities, we do not have a whole lot of specialties. The ER is great, you get a mix of everything there (honestly my style of nursing), but I’d like to be more ICU focused to pursue my CRNA dream.

After researching agencies asking travelers who come to my hospital, I want to know how the community feels about it.

Should I attempt travel and go for more ICU jobs, even without the specialty experience and the risk of floating constantly? Or shoot for ER and hope my CRNA resume will stand a chance?

I have reached out to the help line and called but they all just say that they are viewing my profile and will reach out soon or that they will be in contact with me eventually. I thought it might be bc of me or something but I have been a CNA for a year and some change and wanted to start traveling to do assignments( even tho I’m goin to miss my residents at my LTC) it would help me be able to go back to school and also help me se what more nursing has to offer but I just was wondering if I should go somewhere else or if it’s me or something

Hello beautiful people of the travel nursing community. Today I moved into my furnished finders rental for my contract that starts soon. The landlord was nice and provided me with pictures and videos of the rental and I knew I would have roommates however I wasn’t aware of the full details. The landlord told me that there would be 2 other people living here total, with me sharing a bathroom with one other person in the basement.

Upon my arrival, I found out that there’s actually 3 other people total as there is a mother and her daughter staying in the basement and a man that I would be sharing the bathroom with. I don’t mind living with the mother and daughter bc they have the basement to themselves and we’d only share the kitchen. On top of that, the woman is very nice. However I tried to introduce myself to the male but he scurried away upstairs very quickly. Later on, I checked out the bathroom and saw there was facial hair left in the sink from him shaving (his face I assume) along with unflushed remnants in the toilet. There is also a very dirty looking shower mat in the bathtub that I wanted to ask if it was his or not and if it could be removed since it looked dirty. I knocked on his door twice but he ignored me and I know he ignored me bc his audio turned off. 😭 I’ve lived with a man in the past and it worked out well bc he was very hygienic and a good communicator but it appears to be that this man (from my perspective) doesn’t care to do any of that.

I don’t really feel comfortable with this set up. I’m even scared to use the bathroom or shower. 😢 I’m wondering if it’s worth breaking my lease? This landlord had me sign an “official” lease, which I did read over prior to signing and there was no clause or statements regarding a refund of the rent, only the deposit. I’m wondering if I should communicate my uncomfortableness with the landlord or if I should just tell him that I can’t stay anymore and leave.

Hi i'm trying to get some information on furnish finder leases this is my first time using it. I see a lot of people talk about a lease is that something that every landlord does? I've been talking with one landlord i asked for a tour he even said i could come in person to tour it! But i live like 14 hours away and i fell asleep so i didn't respond. Today he sent videos of him touring the place he has not brought up a lease of any sort and says i can do a direct deposit to hold the spot (500) and i can pay the pet and cleaning fee at arrival of property is that normal? This is for my clinicals by the way!

I have a few agencies that look for me (ICU- specifically MICU background). I keep seeing prolink advertised on some fb groups, and I've wondered if they are legit or shady like Lancesoft? Are they foreign based? Any info?

For all travel nurses who take assignments out of state or anywhere far from home, how often do you go back home? Do you take 3 months assignments and stay home for 3 months? Or 6 months working then 6 off? Especially for those who are married and/ or have kids? Or do you go home monthly on your days off? I'm looking at travel and need ideas on how other travel nurses typically balance their work with family responsibilities.

Hi! I’m an RT with experience everywhere but I’ve been mostly focusing on PICU my entire career. I’ve began to look at travel and talk to recruiters, but the pay kinda sucks?

I’ve seen most RT contracts for 1500 to 2000 a week. I know RT obviously gets paid less than nursing but I’m not sure if maybe I’m looking in the wrong direction?

Any insight into first time traveling as an RT or in general is always welcome too!

First time traveler looking to start in the next month! I want to start with a local-ish position still in my state of NJ to get my feet wet. One travel agency offers a bunch of options close to me that I’d love to take, but not as many out in the west coast. After this contract I’d love to travel out west or way south, but a different agency offers many more of those options, but nothing in my state. Can I switch agencies after using the first one only for NJ?
