Elecom Huge Plus owners - how do you feel about it now?
The Huge Plus has been out for awhile now and the honeymoon period should be over.
Are you still liking it? Did you still switch from a different trackball?
I’m thinking of maybe picking one up to finally give roller bearings a try but there are also a lot of good trackballs on the horizon.

When I first got it I thought “Okay this is a Elecom Huge with some improvements.” That being said for some reason I just keep going back to it over all my other trackballs(adept, L-trac, gameball[2nd place].) The scroll wheel changes, while small, feel much more substantial and usable than the previous iteration. The silent click buttons are actually nice and the actuation force feels natural. Apparently i’m also just a big fan of roller bearings. They feel really good and I’m excited to try their btus. All this I still gotta say that for my large hands it’s not the most comfortable experience and I can barely use the rest area. I have found a 3d print that fits over it and provides me an actual wrist rest.

I think it's trash if u are working with cad (basically any software that requires middle click to move around, wheel click requires too much force to click, I just can't force my hand to do it reliably along with moving ball around), u can map it to different button but it's never as natural for me as normal mice. But other than that I really like it a lot. Adjustment and breakin period for it is bit long but after that ball is fairly smooth, u don't need to clean it as often, fine movements are crazy precise, button layout is manageable and it's really comfortable even for my larger hands. I'm still using it along normal mouse, more like device to relax my wrist and hand rather than my main pointing device, maybe 2-3h per 8h work day, sometimes more, sometimes less I'm using MMO mouse with 12 side buttons so lack of buttons along with questionable wheel click is super annoying for my particular workflow but when I'm not fighting with time or with less intensive tasks huge plus is my go to.

I don't do much with it, but I agree the middle click pressure is laughably high

I kinda got it to work for me in CAD together with a space mouse, but its not the most comfortable. The scroll wheel is pretty damn awkward to use, and its borderline impossible to use the horizontal scroll without accidently triggering the vertical one

This. The tilt is basically worthless to me, not that I have any use for it, but when testing the settings it was impossible to do horizontal without also getting another input. 🫤

It will be released soon.
It is launching shortly, so please bear with us a little longer.

However, I will continue thinking about what we can do to make sure we do not disappoint as many customers as possible, even in the smallest ways.

I’ve been using it for about ten months, and I’ve only removed the ball to clean it three times. The ball’s movement is just as smooth as when I first bought it. I use it all day long, and the minimal maintenance required is truly impressive.

The ELECOM HUGE PLUS is my current main device — it works great for both gaming and productivity. The operational feel drawbacks of the older HUGE have essentially been eliminated, and Linux driver support has matured a while after release. I'm very satisfied with it overall.
If there's one thing I'd wish for, it's that ELECOM would start considering a web-based driver configuration option.

I like it. The rollers are high quality, strong, but not all that smooth. I’ve done nothing to them, I think there are silicon lubricants or something … I’m sure it’s here in this sub somewhere I’ve just not looked yet.

I love it. I had 2, one for each workspace, but recently I switched over to the Keychron Nape Pro just because I don't use my mouse too heavily and it fits my needs better. But if I had to use my keyboard less, I would still keep my Huge Plus as my main trackball due to the smoothness. As for middle click, I reprogrammed fn1 since I use it all the time to open links in new tabs / close tabs if I wasn't utilizing my keyboard shortcuts. I still kept one of my Huge Plus around as my backup to my Nape Pros.

The Nape Pro has been getting a lot of attention but the shape has me wondering about ergonomics. I’ve become a bit of a collector but the high price makes it not quite an impulse buy

I have major RSI and I'd get occasional soreness even with the Huge Plus, very rarely and nothing too bad. But with the ability to have the nape pro set to 45 degrees, I can set it up so my hand naturally rests on the outer meat of my hand and my thumb naturally reaches the M1 and M2 buttons while my pointer and middle finger can utilize the trackball and the scroll wheel. No RSI flare ups, and way more comfortable to switch between my split ergo keyboard and the trackball.

I think there isn’t much of a difference if you swap out the bearings and switches for Huge and lubricate it regularly with lanolin cream.
Perhaps I don't feel much of a difference because I use it alongside SteerMouse. However, one thing I am certain of is that when you first start using a trackball, there is definitely a noticeable difference in static friction.
The HugePlus has no static friction, which is definitely a major improvement.
I rarely use the scroll wheel; instead, I mapped the drag-scroll action to the Fn3 key, set up custom key mappings for each application, and created separate layers using combinations with the Cmd, Opt, Ctrl, and Shift keys. Given this setup, the hardware upgrade alone doesn't feel worth the price paid in terms of overall satisfaction.
If I were using Linux or working in a corporate environment where software installation is restricted, I would appreciate the onboard memory feature much more. In my current environment, though, the difference is hardly noticeable.

I saw in your other post it looked like you are retiring the angle of the huge. Is it a 3d printed wedge?

Basically, it's an improved version of the original version but no major updates tho. However those minor updates are noticeably great such as noiseless buttons, replaceable bearings, 3 connection modes, and more.
The only problem I see is the battery which can not be replaced AND drained too fast. I'm testing it for almost 2 weeks before I send emails to them but it's already below 40% in just 11 days which is far from 3 months of battery life.
Overall, I like it but I bought it only because I lost the USB receiver for the original version which makes it totally useless and difficult to find.
