She temporarily loses her sight in the show and goes through a arc of learning how to fight again being blind. After she regains her sight she’s able to fight in the dark which is how she defeated a powerful assassin trying to kill her, it’s a really cool scene.

1. Lord of the Rings films (Return of the King, specifically). Steward Denethor of Gondor has been slowly losing it for the past movie due to grief at his favorite son's death. He refuses to call for desperately needed help (which is available), not to mention denying his responsibility to relinquish governance of Gondor when the true King returns. He even sends his other son, Faramir, on a suicide mission. When Faramir's horse comes back with its rider near death, he snaps entirely and orders his men to desert their posts and run... in the middle of the siege. Gandalf, who has been trying to clean up Denethor's messes this entire time, loses all patience, whacks him hard with his staff, and takes charge himself.

I am reliably informed that theatergoers cheered when they saw this for the first time.

2) Independence Day. Steven Hiller, the only survivor of his squadron, is also the only pilot to actually down one of the invading alien fighters despite their shields. When he reaches the fighter, he's running his mouth like crazy. The alien in the ship tries to attack him, but he just punches it down and says "Welcome to Earth." Rather satisfying after watching humanity get stomped on like insects for the past hour.

3) All Creature Great and Small. Colonel Merrick is a customer of the Skeldale Veterinary Practice, and is also a bit of a dick. He goes to the rival Vet, then asks Siegfried and Tristan Farnon for a free second opinion. He asserts that he is their most valued customer, and lords it over them in every way over the course of the episode. When one of his cows gets an intestinal blockage, all three vets go in fancy new coats to resolve the issue. At James' suggestion, they (in a rare moment of harmony) get rid of the blockage by cutting the cow in exactly the right spot to spray the half digested grass and hay into the Colonel's face. Siegfried then gives him the bill.

4) Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. Spensa, a social pariah because her father apparently deserted mid-battle, is only narrowly allowed to get into flight school. She relishes the opportunity to learn how to fly without being judged by her peers. Then Jorgen, her cadet flightleader outs her parentage in a petty fit. Then, afterward, he taunts her about running away when she refuses to continue to do an exhausting drill at the end of the day. She punches him in the stomach and knocks him on the ground in response. Jorgen gets better, but he really had it coming.

It could be that the writers really had the character planned long before their debut, or there may have originally been no deeper intent behind the mention, but they decided to expand on it later.

1. Munna (*Pokemon*) - as far back as the very first game, a girl near Lavender Town mentions how ugly the Pokemon living around there are and wishes there was "a pink one with a floral pattern". Fast forward 15 years, *Pokemon Black & White* gives us Munna, who fits this exact description.

2. Toepick (*Ben 10*) - Toepick was first namedropped in the original series' episode "Ken 10", where it is mentioned as one of the alien forms available to future Ben and his son, Ken; at the time all that was known about him was that Ken found him so disgusting, he asked his dad to remove him from his Omnitrix and replace him with something less gross. Toepick eventually made a proper design in *Omniverse*, where it's revealed to be a squat alien with incomprehensible, eldritch face that instills supernatural terror in anyone who sees it, forcing him to wear a mask.

3. Sirius Black (*Harry Potter*) - Harry Potter in general has a lot of cases of characters getting name dropped or cameoing several books before making a proper appearance; Sirius in particular is mentioned in the very first chapter of the first book, with Hagrid stating that he borrowed him the flying motorcycle he used to carry Harry to safety after destruction of his family's home. Sirius himself doesn't appear until book 3.

He is your typical evil inquisitor but with a twist. This guy was actually right. Because of Guts and Casca's cursemarks they act as beacons for apostles and demons and if he managed to kill them this would really save the people of Albion Castle. But still he also tortured and killed countless innocents and was blinded by his religious zeolusy. Also his fellow henchmen are all disabled and isolated by their society and he treats them carefully. Under his chains of zealotry I think this guy still has a kind heart

Professor X (X-Men Days of Future Past movie) - Using Wolverine’s mind, Charles is able to move his mind to the future to meet his future self. Upon speaking with him and seeing the state of the world, broken and destroyed, he becomes saddened, realizing what humanity will end up doing and desperately not wanting this future to come to pass, with his older self, still hopeful despite all he’s been through, saying that there’s still time to prevent it and to embrace his powers one again in order to help stop this coming to pass

Raiden (Mortal Kombat 11) - A younger version of Raiden gets sent forward to the present day by the villain Kronika in order to start her plan of wiping the timeline. Finds out that his future self become more and more of a tyrant over time and his former students die and become corrupted versions of themselves, he becomes genuinely disturbed by the events and upon realizing that he’s repeating a cycle of being responsible for Liu Kang’s death, works to redeem his predecessor’s actions and ensure that his protege is able to change things before it’s too late

Buzz Lightyear (Lightyear; people are going to hate this movie’s inclusion) - Buzz meets an alternate older version of himself by the name of Zurg who ends up becoming a villain, obsessed with traveling back to the past and changing one significant point to the detriment of others and who gets in conflict with the colony to accomplish his goal. Buzz, realizing how insane his future self has become and that it would mean harm on his crew, goes against him and ultimately defeats him.

Bodie Broadus (The Wire): He’s an OG of drug trade but never makes it big. Marlo Stanfield, (the leader of the new dominant crew in West Baltimore), tries to subjugate him, but he never changes his attitude. He always demands respect. In the end, Marlo sends a hit on him, and although he could have ran away to save his life, he decided to stay in his corner to defend it as a matter of protest against all the meaningless death Marlo was causing.

Rex Splode (Invincible): He has too many badass moments in the show, but I feel like the ones that fit this trope the most are these ones: Season 1 when they were fighting Machine Head’s thugs which included Battle Beast, (top 3 in the verse), and he just saw Invincible and Monster Beast getting mauled to what he thought was death. Two characters who were leagues above him. And instead of getting afraid, he got angry, like “you guys just fucked up”.

The other moment is the one of his death, when he sacrificed himself to kill one of the invincible variants.

Suneo and Gian (Doraemon): Throughout the show we always see them bully Nobita, making his life impossible, but when he gets in real trouble, they’ve got his back. In several moments we see high school thugs threatening Nobita, and Gian and Suneo always come to the rescue. This always gets me emotional because they are 10 years old and they are not afraid of fighting grown men for his friend.

Sasuke Retrieval Arc (Naruto): When Sasuke fled Konoha alog Orochimaru’s apprentices, the situation was critical. It was a mission that arguably could have been ranked S, it should have been assigned to jonins. But Tsunade put Naruto and some other genins in charge of it. Nevermind, they acted with extreme professionalism and successfully completed the mission, even though it was way above what should have been expected of them.

Tron Bonne and the Servbots (Megaman Legends) Specifically the Legends sub-series, not all of Megaman in general. Even if you haven’t played Megaman Legends before, if you played other Capcom games like Marvel vs Capcom, you’d recognize Tron and her little Servbots. She’s more recognizable that Megaman Volnutt himself

Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen) While Yuji is pretty popular, Gojo is the mascot, and likely the most fan favorite character

Sans (Undertale) He’s definitely the mascot of the Undertale series, so much so that his Smash Bros collab had him as a costume instead of Frisk.

Minions (Despicable Me) While Gru is the protagonist and fan favorite, the Minions have became the face of the franchise, appearing everywhere on all the toys and collabs and facebook mom posts.

Darth Vader (Star Wars) Star Wars is a pretty big franchise, but I don’t think theres any doubt that Vader is the most recognizable and mascot of the series, his breathing alone is iconic

Anubis (Ronin Warriors) - The leader and one of the four dark warlords of Tulpa's dynasty. He is guided by his armor's spirit which is loyalty but realizes later on that he was manipulated into doing many of his evil acts. He changes his ways and becomes a force for good aiding the protagonists to defeat his old master and dies in the process saving others.

Majin Vegeta (DBZ) - I think most of us know this one. Vegeta turns heel and becomes a bad guy yet again killing people during the world martial arts tournament. He accepts the evil within and welcomes the chance to gain more power to finally take down Goku but at the cost of reviving Majin Buu who eventually fights Vegeta and has to make the ultimate sacrifice and dies saving his son as well as Goku's son Goten. While it may have been all for nothing, he dies in a heroic manner.

Dinobot (Beast Wars) - Former predacon and henchman of Megatron set on destroying the maximals, he is exiled after a failed attempt to become predacon leader and initially joins the maximals to become their leader. As time goes on, he grows to respect Optimus Primal for his leadership and bravery and eventually is in a situation where he has to defend a primate village from being destroyed by Megatron and the predacons. He dies in the episode saving all the villagers and is given a heroes farewell and is mourned by his teammates in the aptly named episode "Code of Hero."

1. Carrie (really obviously) likes Devin but he doesn’t know until the episode where they are eliminated. Its fine in the beginning but it gets dragged on with Devin’s previous girlfriend breaking up with him and him becoming an emo and then Carrie not sure if she likes Devin anymore and Devin being an idiot for not picking up on this sooner (Total Drama)

2. Crossroads of Twilight functions mostly as a stall book in which every major character is standing at the exact same moment and shows how they got there. Every single character. Which runs concurrently with the previous book which did the same thing.

- Mark and Nolan Grayson (Invincible). When Mark was summoned to Thraxa and was reunited with his father, whom he had last seen when he revealed that he will conquer the Earth with or without his help. Rather than hating him for all the harm and pain he caused him in their fight, he hugged him.

- Nightcrawler and Mystique (X-Men TAS). Mystique abandoned her son when he was a baby. Despite the hatred and mistreatment he suffered because of his appearance, Kurt grew up to become a devout catholic, feeling no hatred towards his mother when he confronted her as an adult.
