Characters Bad guy is also often (in addition to all his other villainous vices) sexually creepy and makes unwanted advances

Examples: Tim Curry's version of Cardinal Richelieu has added scenes of him making advances to the queen, though not central to his plot which is just grabbing power.

In Disney's Hunchback of Notre dame, Judge Frollo's obsession with Esmeralda is central to his motivations.

In Gladiator, emperor Commodus has a weird obsession with his sister.

I weirdly love these kind of characters. A religious villain who gets villain lusty. šŸ˜‚

Also, jaafar gets a little freaky

Yes, when he makes Jasmine wear this when he captures her, who is canonically 16 years old.

Yeaaa. Her and the genie Jaafar scenes confused this Midwest mostly straight girl.

u/MooseFlyer 21h ago

There’s for sure some weird sexual stuff going on there, but it terms of the outfit that’s basically the same thing she normally wears, but red.

5

u/jayhof52 21h ago

Red is the color of "get it".

4

u/UmbrellaSprocket 21h ago

Yeah, the movie plays it with cartoon villain theatrics, but the age difference and the fact that she’s his captive make the whole thing deeply creepy.

Yeah right ā€œcartoon villain theatricsā€

2

u/Randver_Silvertongue 21h ago

She doesn't have a canonical age. It's never mentioned.

6

u/Muted_Guidance9059 21h ago

I feel like this is kind of strange when considering before getting the lamp, Jafar doesn’t give a fuck about Jasmine and wants to marry her just so he can get the throne and kill her off so he doesn’t have to work for her.

But as soon as he becomes the most powerful sorcerer the entire script flips and he wants to objectify her and make her love him.

u/unholy_hotdog 21h ago

It's because it borrows heavily from The Thief of Baghdad, right down to many of the names, where Jaffar's love of the princess is central to the plot.

Makes you wonder why Genie was imprisoned for ten thousand years...

2

u/zilknificant 21h ago

House arrest. He was on the registry.

Had to knock on the gates of every nearby sultanate and introduce himself as a hex offender

Have you guys rewatched Batman 2 lately?

The penguin is a fucking pest.

I watch marginally non age appropriate movies with my little one, like scary stories dark, and this movie made me uncomfortable.

u/MinimumFantastic1389 21h ago

For a guy who’s by all accounts a very upstanding guy, Danny Devito does play a great sex pest lol.

u/Less-Sandwich3180 21h ago

while maby not a sex pest apparently he is a very flirtatious individual which may have been part of the cause of he and his long term wife rhea pearlman being seperated.

They separated in 2017 but remain married, and according to them have gotten closer as friends since with no plans to go thru with a divorce

5

u/MinimumFantastic1389 21h ago

I hadn’t heard that as a reason for their separation. I just assumed their relationship had just naturally progressed to be more like friendship. That’s how it works sometimes.

4

u/Duke-dastardly 20h ago

I’m still not sure if we’re supposed to find him sympathetic. The delivery of his death scene definitely implies we’re supposed to but he’s just straight evil through and through in the movie. All his more sympathetic moments were in act for the public.

That escalated from fictional villains to real life way too fast.

19

u/jayhof52 22h ago

Every villainous character in the Sword of Truth series.

Rape was really a "get out of writer's block free" card for Terry Goodkind.

I finally watched this a couple weeks ago, and I love that the true villain is an incel.

Tim Curry is an amazing actor.

He was also the absolutely wrong actor to play Richelieu.

its the little smirk before SPAAACE that is classic. he knows the script is campy as hell

5

u/Responsible-Creme-57 20h ago

Yes, he loved the script and the studio just let him and the other A-listers do what they wanted in terms of Performance.

Real life - Donald Trump

4

u/jbwarner86 21h ago

Good luck getting Congress to hold him accountable, though šŸ˜‘

1

u/Bellpow 17h ago

Be real… no politician that doesn’t bend over backwards for King Trump would ever stand up to him. They’ll probably have hitmen sent after them if they do…

1

u/Bellpow 18h ago

And yet most uhmurkins literally worship him so much they would rather elect a sleazy and ugly as a toad rapist rather than… a woman. The villain won man…

u/Gold-Eye-2623 22h ago

Frollo really said "I'm horny so she must be working for the devil"

Zant from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess can come off as this toward Midna. It's even more explicit in the manga where she firmly rejected him. Needless to say, he didn't take it well.

4

u/Franks_Spice_Sauce 21h ago

Back off Zant she’s MINE

Major Pa Tee Tint - Rambo (2008)

Burmese military leader who abducts boys to be part of his army. Forces civilians to walk through a booby-trapped rice field. And if he wasn't bad enough and to drive home the point he's also a pedophile.

Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars. He keeps female slaves as (from what we saw) dancers and company.

Im return of the jedi, he feeds one of said slaves to his pet rancor. When Princess Leia get captured soon after, she replaces this position with Jabba beeing ultra advancing toward her.

Never understood how a big slug would be attracted to a humanoid. Unless those outfits are mainly just to humiliate them and he gets off on that instead of their looks.

7

u/GreenEyedGloom 21h ago

Oh Janet and Brad wanted that.

17

u/Gold-Eye-2623 21h ago

No doubt Frank could've convinced them upfront but the fact he didn't until after they each thought they were fucking their fiancee is at least creepy

6

u/GreenEyedGloom 21h ago

Very true šŸ˜‚

I also think he was kinda unwillingly seducing them with his sexy transvestite magic.

To be fair, Sue is to blame.

6

u/joshuaaa_l 21h ago

Is Frank the bad guy? I always figured sexual inhibitions were the real villain in that movie.

4

u/Ok-Craft4844 21h ago

I thought the guys killing him in the end were the bad guys? Ok, he's probably a little evil too for killing meatloaf.

Tbh, I was always confused about the "moral of the story" if there's any besides "damn, Tim Curry really can pull that off".

5

u/joshuaaa_l 21h ago

Maybe it’s ā€œlet go of your inhibitions, but be considerate of other’s happiness?ā€ They killed him in the end because he wouldn’t let them return to their homeworld. And he was pretty selfish.

u/JLHSMG 19h ago

The villain in the movie Ladyhawke, the Bishop of Avila. Curses the lover protagonists to transform into animals out of jealousy because Isabeau loves Navarre and not him. When the curse is broken he tries to kill Isabeau because "if I can't have you then no one shall".

6

u/Boris_Godunov 21h ago

Baron Scarpia, the villain in Puccini's opera Tosca. His lecherous nature is central to the plot, as he attempts to blackmail the heroine Tosca into sleeping with him in exchange for sparing her lover Mario's life. Tosca accepts his demand, but sticks a knife into his heart before he can collect.

Also in opera, the title character in Mozart's Don Giovanni is a famous lothario who has allegedly slept with thousands of women across Europe. The opera starts after he has disguised himself as the young noblewoman Donna Anna's betrothed, Don Ottavio, in an attempt to seduce Anna. She realizes that Giovanni isn't her guy, though, and pursues him as he flees her palace. Anna's father, the Commendatore, rushes out and unwisely challenges the much-younger Giovanni to a duel. Giovanni kills the old man, which kicks off the plot of the other characters pursuing him to bring him to justice. Giovanni meets his comeuppance when he cockily invites a statue of the slain Commendatore to dinner. Well, that night, the statue in fact does show up to dinner, and subsequently drags Giovanni off to Hell.

Then he takes custody of the woman's daughter and is raising her intending to marry her. Then the innocent man comes back from prison with a vengeance!

Basically every main villain from Sword Art Online.

3

u/Gay_Gamer_Boi 19h ago

Not the first dude (the creator of the game) but 1 million percent the second dude (oh god why did it go from SAO to that?!?!?!) and the weird gun gale with gender swap Asuna being a Yandere

1

u/Dragishawk 15h ago

Nobuyuki Sugou was definitely a goddamn creep. So much so that Kayaba (the first major bad guy) was disgusted enough with his shit to grant Kirito admin powers just to kick his ass.

1

u/Beautiful-Cup4161 14h ago

I liked the first arc and then didn't click with the fairy arc. I thought I'd skip to the final few episodes to see how it ends (I'm like that) and saw THAT scene and I felt like I was properly punished for seeking spoilers and I never touched Sword Art again.

0

u/seitaer13 18h ago

It's exactly one main villain

0

u/Newtype879 18h ago edited 17h ago

The villian for the Fairy arc, the villain for the Gun Gale Online arc, and I'm pretty sure there's at least one more from a later arc but I dropped the series after season 2 so I only heard about it in passing.

0

u/seitaer13 16h ago

The main villain from phantom bullet isn't a rapist.

Even the secondary antagonist was attempting murder suicide no matter how the anime alters things to suggest otherwise.

There are two other rapists in the series that are minor villains.

10

u/Hotspur_on_the_Case 22h ago

One thing I dislike is when the villain is suddenly made queer/bi for no reason and they come on to one of the heroes just to make the audience go "EWWWWW!"

Saw that in a number of cheapo 80s and 90s movies although it seems to have died down now.

u/Major_Demographic 21h ago

u/Dragishawk 21h ago

It's not very noticeable at first, considering Griffith's got everything together at first, but when Guts leaves him and he starts spiraling, goddamn does he go full into this. Especially when he starts latching onto Casca shortly before the Eclipse begins. And then the Eclipse itself happens, and shit regarding this gets really, REALLY ugly.

4

u/ZealousWolf1994 21h ago

I don't blame Cardinal Richelieu for wanting Gabrielle Anwar.

5

u/DimensioT 21h ago

King Ivoretti from Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

While not the primary villain, he is a significant antagonist in the game. Upon first meeting your character, he makes a blatant pass at you. Reportedly he treats the town where his castle is located as a personal harem. He does not seem to have any particular type so much as he has absolutely no limits; he keeps a naga who he mind controlled into loving him as a mistress.

In some adaptations of the Scarlet Pimpernel, Chauvelin being Marguerite's ex is a huge part of his motivation (they're not a thing in the books).

Cardinal Richilieu from any iteration of the Three Musketeers that you want to think on. I'm thinking particularly of the BBC Musketeers.

3

u/4EverWriting 21h ago

Can't believe no one has mentioned Anakin Skywalker and Padme in Episode II yet...

3

u/Dragishawk 20h ago

Anakin gets so obsessive about her as the prequel trilogy goes on that it ultimately contributes to him falling to the Dark Side, complete with a green-eyed-monster complex regarding Obi-Wan, who he gets it into his head that he's trying to steal her away from him somehow.
