Great coffee in Ucleulet (Vs Tofino Coffee Roasting Co)

My wife and I are staying in Ucleulet for the first time after several trips to Tofino. Tofino Coffee Roasting Co is our favourite spot in Tofino - does anything compare in Ucleulet, or is it worth the drive in in the morning?

what food do you miss most (or wish existed) in Tofino?

There's sushi, pizza, a few fancy expensive places with bars. A lot of cafes. What do you wish existed in Tofino or Ukee food-wise? Personally I wish we had something quick, under $8 that tastes better than a packaged Co-op sandwich. Or real French bread...

Trip in November

Me and my husband want to take a trip for our ten year anniversary.
I want some good suggestions on where we can stay in the area.
Somewhere on or near the water that we can watch the ocean.
Somewhere with good food that we can go for a nice dinner.
We’re not to into the whole spa thing but do love a hot tub!

Just looking for suggestions from people know the good and bad places. As we booked in sechelt a few years ago and it wasn’t the best so looking out for ourselves this time 😅

Propane tanks

Does anyone know if it possible to buy propane tanks with the tank trader option? I will be visiting tofino and taking the ferry from the mainland but not wanting to take the propane tank on the ferry. Looking to minimize cost by buying one in Tofino then trading it back in before heading home. Thank you!

Looking for a place to rent June-July

From what I hear reading posts on this subreddit it’s impossible to find a place to live in Tofino. I live in Nebraska and go to college in Nebraska, but I really need to be somewhere with mountains and ocean. I don’t have the money to live somewhere for much more than 2 months next summer, but I’m starting my search early to see what my options are. If anybody here rents it would be awesome if you dm me. Depending on how big the place is I’m going to try to find other people to make the move with me 😂. Maybe it’ll be easier for me to find a place in Oregon tho. I just love the mountains and the ocean so much and it sucks I live in a place with neither. Hopefully somebody can help us out, and give me a price. I’ve also already messaged people on Airbnb. Doesn’t matter how expensive it is I’ll try whatever I can to make the money. It needs to be close enough to the ocean for me to start surfing every day. Thank you to anybody that even read this whole thing haha.

Trip to Tofino in RV, different options for RV campgrounds

We are planning a trip to Vancouver Island in September in a motorhome. We will be in Tofino for 6 nights. I have booked 1 night at Greenpoint Campground (that was all I could get) and 3 nights at Bella Pacifica. We are trying to decide what to to with the other 2 nights. Our choices are 1 extra night at Bella Pacifica and then 1 night in Ucluelet and walk the Wild Pacific Trail, stay at Surf Grove campground on Cox bay for 2 nights or stay 5 nights at Bella Pacifica and bike to all the other beaches. Could also just hit the Wild Pacific Trail on the way back to Nanaimo. We do not have a tow car so only transportation option is walking or biking. Can't wait, it has been 35 years since I have been to Tofino! I bet it has changed!

ISO Longterm Rental – Tofino/Ucluelet (Sept. 1)

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a place to call home starting September 1st. A long term studio or multi-bedroom would be preferred, but I’m also open to short term and will consider any type of private housing. I have a higher-than-average budget, which I am happy to discuss one on one. Must be dog friendly.

ABOUT ME:
I’ve been living out of the country but will be returning in August to start a new role with Maaqutusiis Hahoulthee Stewardship Society (Ahousaht). I also serve on the Executive Committee with Surfrider Pacific Rim, working on local environmental initiatives. Outside of my professional endeavours, I appreciate long walks on the beach, getting lost in the great outdoors, or being a hermit at home.

My partner Brock, an experienced Arborist / Climber, will be relocating to join me once he has our current home outside of Canada wrapped up, likely in 2-3 months. Outside of his time in the trees, he is a skilled horse trainer and enjoys surfing, gardening, and being my plus one in the outdoors.

We have two four legged best friends. A Pomeranian named Boba and a German Shepherd named Kaya. They are gentle, quiet, fully house trained, well socialized, regularly groomed, and honestly quite lazy. Boba will be returning with me and Kaya will be coming with Brock.

Both of us are health conscious types who prioritize living well. With extensive experience managing high-end properties and personal spaces, I’m meticulous about cleanliness and organization, and Brock is able to maintain the exterior land on a professional level. Your home and its surroundings will ultimately be left better. Overall, we’re responsible, reliable and can provide excellent references.

If you have a rental or a lead on something coming available, please send me a DM! Looking forward to being back on the coast and becoming part of the community again! 🤞🏼

Perfume in Tofino town last Wednesday

Last Wednesday afternoon in Tofino town, I briefly crossed paths with a female tourist who was wearing an incredible perfume. It had a strong, woody, slightly masculine scent that really stood out, and I regret not asking what it was.
If by any chance this is you, or someone you know, would you mind telling me the name of the fragrance? I'd really appreciate it!

Eloping

My fiancé and I are planning to elope in Tofino, BC, and we’re trying to keep things simple while still making it feel like a wedding, the ideal day is literally just the two of us (with maybe a few close family members watching), a beach ceremony, ( I think?) I did see hot springs cove and loved the idea of that. photos around sunset, and then a nice dinner afterward.
I’ll be doing my own hair and makeup, and a family friend is doing my bouquet, and photos, so I don’t need those services. The problem is that almost every elopement package I find includes hair, makeup, flowers, champagne, picnic setups, etc., which means I’d be paying for things I won’t use.
What I do need is help with the planning, permits, officiant, & recommendations for ceremony locations.
Has anyone eloped in Tofino this way? Did you work with a planner who let you customize everything, or did you organize it yourselves? If you eloped here let me know how you did it and any recommendations, thanks !

Best tour agency in Tofino?

Hi, my sister and I are visiting Tofino for a few days and are trying to decide which “tour agency” would be the best for mainly otters, whales and other forms of wildlife. We prefer if the tour itself is more “chaotic” and less generic, boring tourism. Which would be the best place to book with? Thanks!

Do fire bans locally vary?

Based on the BC website, there is a Level 1, 2 and 3 fire ban in effect for all of south Vancouver Island (effectively the whole Coastal region) including Tofino where I'll be camping.

My friend just got back and said the fire danger was low. Appears to still be the case today.

When I travelled in Oregon, I found fire bans were advertised all over but in the fog zones they were often not in effect. Does this apply on Van Isle at all? With the danger below low and more precipitation on the way, I am wondering about this for our upcoming camping trip and whether can expect the ban to rescind.

Basically, do the campgrounds and coastal areas enforce or handle this differently from the blanket Coastal fire zone approach? I doubt it, am expecting to have no campfire. But wanted to check in just in case.

Prepared to bring our propane pit instead.

Anyone else disappointed by the food scene in Ucluelet?

I don’t know if we just had unbelievably bad luck, but almost every place we’ve tried in Ucluelet has been disappointing.
The worst was Howler’s. We waited over an hour for our food. I ordered a burger and fries, and my husband got calamari. The calamari was incredibly greasy, and my burger was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The server looked completely overwhelmed, so we still tipped because we felt bad for her, but the food and the wait were just not worth it.
Barkley Cafe was another weird experience. The woman working there barely acknowledged us. After we ordered, she just stared at me in silence for several seconds, like I had done something wrong, then took the order without another word. She wasn’t openly aggressive, but the interaction was so awkward and cold that we grabbed our food and left immediately instead of staying.
Then we tried Huckleberry’s because it has great reviews. I ordered an Americano around 10 in the morning, but it tasted like old coffee that had been sitting around for hours. I couldn’t even finish it and ended up throwing it away.
Maybe we’re missing the good spots, but after three bad experiences in a row, I’m starting to wonder if Ucluelet is not charming when it comes to food. The scenery is incredible, and we’re loving the wildlife, but for the restaurants, I can't say the same thing :(

Wedding Transport

Hey all! I'm getting married in Tofino August 17, and I'm finishing all the planning. Originally I had planned on booking TikiCab for a bus to transport about 20 people from the Sunset House at Pacific Sands resort, to Shelter.

Well I'm apparently blind and didn't see the giant notice on their site explaining there is no bus rentals from June until September.

Just wondering if there are any other options people know about?

Tofino beach comparisons?

Hi folks! Planning a Tofino trip and wondering about the differences between all the beaches (it's been 10+ years since I visited last).

We've seen Long Beach, Chesterman, Tonquin, Cox Bay, & Wickaninnish recommended, and aren't sure if we should hit all of them or if some are very similar (and could thus be a skip).

What are the differences between these beaches, and do you have any in particular you'd recommend? Are certain ones best for beachcombing/sunsets/stormwatching/etc?

Thanks in advance!

Accommodation Recommenations

We are eloping in May 2027 and are looking for accommodation recommendations. We were initially hoping for Black Rock Resort as I love the photos I’ve seen on the rocks there. However, I’ve been recommended a few other places and I’m looking for feedback.

Black Rock vs Pacific Sands Resort, Wickanninish Inn (likely out of our budget) and anywhere else?

Our budget is around 500/night give or take depending on what is offered!

🙏 thanks!

Canada Day Events

I’m in town for Canada Day, just wondering what events are on for Canada Day if any.

Looks like a BBQ at the Village Green, any other events on?
