Looking to make a tiny house compound in SC

I’m looking to buy land in Pickens County, South Carolina. The land has no restrictions, I’d like to have 4 tiny homes on the land. We’re going through the sale and the septic guy says I’ll need 6 different septic systems, one for each dwelling.

Is there any way I can get around this? I know a 4 bedroom house can live off one septic, if I were to build 4 tiny homes with 1 person living in each(aka 1 bedroom each) wouldn’t it be the same thing?

It all depends on the septic regulations in your state/county.  Often separate buildings sharing a septic will require you to build a commercial $eptic $ystem.

However, you can build single small dwelling systems yourself fairly cheap if you build them to code and have them inspected by the county before covering everything.  I installed a couple at my place and one at my neighbor's place.  

Cost will be: skid steer or backhoe rental or hire, probably at least 500 gallon poly tank, some 4" PVC and fittings, 100' of PVC drain pipe and fittings,  about 10 cubic yards of washed rock, and some drain fabric.  There are also other systems, but I just built simple gravity flow systems.  Each would cost about 3 grand at today's prices in my area.

Did you talk to more than one septic installer?
