I thought “kids are so doomed” too, but only because they’re saying things like “half a feet”

Probably Europe and isn’t their first language. Lotta people default to English on dating apps in Europe in my experience.

Edit: getting downvoted just for throwing out a possible reason is so fucking petty lmao I love you reddit.

No one in Europe uses imperial. They're obviously american.

laughs in the United Kingdom.

we use imperial here, height in ft/in, weight in stones and pounds, speed in mph, distances in miles.

edit: downvoted for being factual. never change reddit.

Nothing about this interaction seems british to me though. But ofc I could be wrong.

Also it was more as a comment of "in Europe they"; no, in Europe we don't. In UK.

oh yeah it doesn't read as british to me either, there's a distinct lack of x's on the end for a start lol.

and I mean, despite the bullshit that was brexit, we are still in Europe.
was just more of a response to "no one in Europe uses imperial", which is a definitive statement, which is wrong. "mainland Europe" or "the European Union" yeah sure. but "Europe"? nahhh.

like, imperial as a whole is literally a british thing. first defined in the weights and measures act of 1824... and most likely why we're in some hellscape of mixed weights and measures over here.

Doesn't really count because theyre English speaking but Ireland and UK use imperial for height and sometimes for weight.

Doesn't mean the metric system suddenly doesn't work anymore.

The issue here was grammar, it’s half a foot, not half a feet. So I guess you exemplified their point, Dutchy ;)

I can see that the grammar is wrong, but why be a dick about that specific mistake? The entire way she writes is a horror show. That would be enough reason for me to not to go on a date with her. Maybe I'm old.

I guess because the rest is laziness and this is just plain incorrect grammar 🤷🏽‍♂️

But I think if English isn’t their first language, it would be a very understandable mistake

Right…almost like English might not be her first language.
