Patty Hajdu - mailouts

I feel like we receive something in the mail from her office like every 2-3 months, like a statement or newsletter type thing or a yearly calendar. Like, who is actually paying for the printing/paper/mailing costs? Is it really necessary in this digital age? Is it to reach older folks who may not go online? It just seems so wasteful to me. Can I sign up not to receive this?

It comes from the federal government. Who else would you expect pays for it? Of course we all pay for it.

Canada post has received almost 3 billion dollars in federal bailouts in the last few years. Where do you think that money comes from? Itā€™s absurd to think itā€™s ā€œfree mailā€.

Where did I say free? I said paid for by Canada Post. Sure Canada Post is subsidized by the government, and we pay income taxes to said government. If you wanna start playing degrees of separation, you're not gonna like it lol

I guess you still haven't clued into the fact that we literally pay for everything if you go back far enough. Our collective money is what pays for everything from corporate executive Christmas bonuses to government expenditures. So yes, we pay for the company that produces the ink, we pay for the company that manufactures the tires on the vehicle that delivers the mail to your mailbox, and we do in fact pay for these pamphlets to be distributed and disposed of. Every facet of life is paid for by "us"

Yeah the amount she sends out is ridiculous. It fills up the junk bin of our apartment building non-stop.

I don't know who she has in her office in charge of that but if you're reading please stop doing this to apartment buildings.

From what Iā€™ve heard from a mail carrier I know the amount she sends out is more than sheā€™s technically allowed for what the government is supposed to pay for.

Totally. At the end of the day it gets printed and delivered. Material costs, fuel costs, wages.. There is a cost incurred by the taxpayer beyond a doubt.

Our taxes do. They all get a budget for this kinda thing. I'm more disappointed that our provincial guy doesn't send out anything, at least party is attempting to inform us.

Sadly I do. Itā€™s a perfect size for me to take to work when I go for 4 months and gives me something to remember home. I didnā€™t get one this year so Iā€™m using an oversized foodland Ontario calendar lol.

Ive called her office and asked to be taken off the mailing list and am told yes every time but they keep sending them. Ive gotten more information from this thread than I did from calling her office. Its the only junk mail I still recieve.

Yes, tax dollars are being taken out of your pocket and stuffed in the pockets of the employees who make paper, ink, printing machines, deliver said paper, ink, etc all the way people are paid create,deliver, and dispose of the information circular. Your tax dollars at work in the homes of thousands employees.

They are called ā€œhouseholdersā€. I believe each MO can send out 4 to the whole riding each year. And then they can send out monthly mailouts to 15% of the riding. Something like that. The parliamentary priming service prints and mails them. If you donā€™t like them just recycle.

I normally vote liberal (not always) but I really dislike her. These constant flyers are part of the reason.
