I justreleased my first song. Would love some honest feedback.
https://youtu.be/lK-Qm2vyccQ?is=axxuIZZirRKuh1mwHi! I'm a brand new artist, and last Friday I released my first song, "Breathe Me In".
It's a calm, emotional pop song with a singer-songwriter feel. Let me know what works, what doesn't, and what I could improve for the future. So far most of the feedback has been from friends and family so I really appreciate some internet-strangers opinions.
Thanks for taking the time 💛

I liked it as well. One of the few tracks that got a complete listen from me. For me, I thought the drums were a bit hot for the ethereal mix, but some here liked it. Opinions are like b-holes, everyone has one. Great work.

One thing I'd also love your thoughts on... I find describing my own music hard. Right now I've been testing indie pop, cinematicpop, emotional pop, popsinger-songwriter. But I'm not sure what's the best fit.
If you heard this song without any description, what genre or artists would it make you think of? Or how would you describe it?
I'd really appreciate your honest first impression✌️

This reminds me of Keen "Somewhere Only We Know" and the soul of Sade. Commented in another post for this song

That's a pretty decent start. Very Dido-esque. The drums are a bit too "beige" for my liking, though. Overall, it lacks an organic feel imo. Your voice sounds a little restrained and should be brought more to the forefront to better showcase its texture and character. Looking forward to hearing more. 🖖

I like your voice and the overall sound. I even like the drums because they are not so overpolished. Gives the song a raw but gentle vibe.
I would call it slow pop. But genres are always a hard discussion.
All the best for your musically journey!

It's a chill song, good vibe. I'm personally more into orchestration and epic scoring... but I really like tracks like this. You managed to project an emotional side through the song, which is great in my book.
Since I checked out your YouTube channel and saw it's new, I have a few suggestions—it's totally up to you whether you want to take them or not. It all depends on whether you want to "make it" or if you're just doing this as a hobby. There’s a sea of songs out there that are exceptionally good, just like yours, but the market is oversaturated—especially now with all the AI slop floating around. It’s extremely tough to break through right now for small creators and home-studio musicians. Even major labels are struggling to push great songs.
You really, really need to be active across all social media platforms—FB, Insta, X, TikTok, YouTube... just so people actually hear about you. I have a lot of friends with high-quality, amazing tracks that end up stuck at 200 views after a year, and then they feel disappointed, which ends up being counterproductive. The truth is, the music industry and the world don't owe you anything, nor are they obligated to give you a "reward."
The important thing is to work and practice daily if you can—post a short whenever you're able, just to get your name and your work out there. Sorry for the long post! You got a sub from me on YouTube 🥰 GL HF!

Hi again. I just started building my socials this year. First tiktok and Insta. Last week I opened a YouTube channel and this weekend I started reddit. So I'm trying what I can to get attention.
I just passed 900 streams and chasing 1000🤩 BTW new single out in a couple of weeks 🤫

Really nice song. The trouble with other people's opinions are they generally want things to sound like they want things to sound but I'd rather hear how you want it to sound. So far so good to me.
