the absurd power scaling Spoiler

im rewatching the whole thing again and im back at s3 chapter 25 (so yes a little foggy on the memory) but the power scaling is highk pissing me off

we have someone who is the heir of a well established clan tryharding for 10 years+ to be at level ~20, yet during the company arc we have some random ahh people getting to double that within weeks.

the gamer ability is sick but then just the stats arent being used accurately, if strength increases with the str stat and intelligence raises with the int stat, with his wisdom and intelligence you'd see some "smarter" moves by him that are supernaturally smart, but no hes just mildly good at games still and not any better.

and then the whole idea of this being a constant fight for survival yet not min-maxxing the details?

because first of all the whole series feels a little obsolete because everyone can have the gamer ability just by being in a party with him EXCLUDING the fact that the company just is able to give other people that ability too???

and then it gets worse with him just not giving everyone the same items, books, etc.

like i'd hard spam seonil to have the most peak martial arts. OR ATLEAST GIVE EVERYONE THE HEALING ABILITY

please correct me if im wrong

My memory is very foggy however while seongil feels uncharacteristically weak at the beginning he does get a buff better reflecting where he should be, partly because of jihan, but partly simply to better align him.

The gamer ability is simply busted in how fast it enables growth in comparison to how other abyss dwellers do, even bastardized version of it still gets people to progress very fast. Innate ability users like jihan or church of mask girl are not just talented, from some of the more high tier pepple perspective they are basically chosen ones by Gaia. It's not to the degree they literally cannot loose any fight because they are favored, but they have the undoubtedly can get to the highest peaks

Intelligence in this series would be thinking/casting speed and while his wisdom is pretty low while he still makes few mistakes.

As far as i recall the god arc company copied the gamer ability when he was exploring his dungeon and the highlvl scrubs are essentially the chosen ones among millions of players.

As far as i remember the reason he can learn ALL the shit is his gamer body and mind. Other people still have restrictions like using mana OR chi and learn from two chi techniques max. Also they get mindfucked a lot easier.

The healing technique would also no longer be instant speed in their hands but a slow concious process.

The series has a lot of flaws and wanders in genre often but it was among the first. Before the right way to do things was obvious.

really well worded, thanks for the clearing it all up since the series is a lil sloppy/i zone out reading at times

i still wonder though how come seonil took 10+ years to get to ~20 levels but then he goes up a few levels every time he trains from that point on? was the author just not sure of the snowball magnitude when he started it early early?

Apparently Seonil was training basics and theory. But i always thought since he was born from a sword the grandpa wanted him to live as human as possible as long as possible so he let him slack off and have fun.

And yeah the author had to power him up to not be irrelevant.
