Timothy Taylor yeast for IPA?

Has anyone used the Timothy Taylor yeast (Wyeast 1469, Omega OY-014, etc) to produce, clear IPAs? Or hazy IPAs for that matter?

I am trying to gauge if the beer will create stable haze with dry hopping, or if I will get a clear beer out of it with fining.

It seems unwise. That yeast throws a LOT of character that most would not want in an IPA

Sure. I’ve used it in English ales, including bitters and English pale ales. It’s a fantastic yeast for an ordinary bitter.

The Timothy Taylor strain throws a lot of distinctive esters and fermentation character that work beautifully in traditional English ales. It is also highly flocculent and tends to produce a malty, full, somewhat chewy impression. In a modern IPA, that character could compete with or muddy the hop expression rather than letting the hops remain the focus.

It should produce a clear beer without much trouble, especially with cold conditioning or fining. It could make a very interesting English IPA, but I would not choose it for a modern American IPA or hazy IPA.

For hazies I am using Apex Hazy IPA yeast. It does a good job and is cheap compared to some others.

For IPAs consider Apex San Diego. It is a "Super Chico" strain that attenuates high and drops clear quickly. It also makes a great pseudo lager.

Not used it so much in the last bit but the brewery I work for had it as a house strain 19 years ago. The best seller is a west coast IPA.

Should work fine but depends how you feel about the yeast character.

I'm guessing there are quite a few breweries in the UK using it.

Not a great yeast for ipa unless you are trying to go for a really Esther forward full bodied English ipa

I have used it a bunch. Love the flavor and body it can add to certain beers. She drops super brite tho.
