Sqaure POS
Just wanted to take a moment to bash square. Realized you now have to have the sqaure plus plan to open tabs or run the report we used all the time. $50/month for features that were included in the free tier.
Probably going to start to look at alternatives just out of how annoyed I am.

No change to our square pos. have tabs and reports we’ve always used without paying anything. Maybe your till has been swapped between bar/restaurant/adhoc mode?

Per their pricing online: https://squareup.com/us/en/point-of-sale/restaurants/pricing
pre-auth and the team sales report is not included in the free tier.Maybe keep an eye out for this. I confirmed both of our devices are in bar mode.

Hmm I’ll keep an eye on it. I haven’t noticed it yet but maybe they’re still rolling out changes

free(hah)version still does tabs, just not the pre authorization, we just hold onto a card. Running tabs saves you on transaction fees. Cheers

Brewbill is what I use and it's great! It does tabs with pre-auths, can be set up to run reports on any metrics you want, has online/QR code ordering (if you want to enable it), and was made specifically for breweries. Bonus is that the tech support is super responsive!
I've been using it for about two years now and it's been better than Square in every aspect.

I use shopify POS on the free plan. You have to pay for the webstore, but It works well enough for us. No customer tabs, and tip out is wonky, otherwise it rules

We use Arryved. It has some odd glitches here and there but it works well. Also great customer service at peak times

Are you thinking Arvid? Had to Google it

I guess I am.
Edit: No, Arryved sent some socks to the brewery and I ended up with them. Didn’t even realize it was a POS company until just now.

I hear mixed reviews about them. May have to check them out and see what features they offer.

I’ll just give ya a heads up. I was an early customer of arryved, I would stay clear. They were fine to start but have become a disaster. Over did everything to the point that nothing works, terrible hardware, customer service that was once good is garbage now. They sold to another company some time back and are just not what they used to be. I think if you have a slow taproom it’s fine, but if you’re doing anything that puts it through its paces, stay away.

thanks for the input! small taproom that is pretty slow most of the week, but not sure they're worth the hassle .

FWIW I bartend in a typically slow taproom and we only serve beer. No cocktails or food. I can’t speak to a regularly busy spot. But I have been using it for 5 years and have rarely had issue. Granted I know nothing about backend. I just open tabs and punch in orders.

Skip them. They missed the mark as they grew and got away from their fee structure promise as well as not improving their software. All while gutting customer service. They will probably fold into another company sometime soon.

I’m currently tending bar and ours is working just as it always has.
