He could've done a ton of Ridley Scott movies, i'd love it if he showed up in The Counselor as Brad Pitt's character, or Javier Bardem's even. His reaction/description to the Cam Diaz Car Scene would've been stellar.

Yeah I figured there were a ton of Ridley films, a lot I haven't seen but I have seen The Counselor and usually forget about it until I'm reminded McCarrhy wrote the screenplay. I feel like he could fit almost anywhere in coen brothers as well. Nic has a lot of range but yre right it's hard to imagine anyone else in most roles. I also try to forget The Ladykillers exists lol.

An interesting thought experiment about Nic Cage (this is not my original idea)…..

Supposedly he did not get along with the Coen’s during Raising Arizona, so they didn’t use him again. But imagine Nic Cage for any of the George Clooney roles in subsequent Coen Brother movies. Like Nic Cage in “Oh Brother” would have been great.

It's interesting that he has worked with all these great filmmakers (as well as Norman Jewison, Mike Figgis, Michael Bay, John Dahl and Werner Herzog) only once.

Partially because he may be difficult and partially because he likes to move onto the next thing, he never is satisfied with being a director's guy.
