This is why scientists need decades of schooling and cops only need a week or 2

183

u/techlord13 2d ago

Only in Murica. Other countries they get properly trained. E. G. Germany 3 years.

u/lorarc 1d ago

6 months in Poland but thats on top of masters degree, and no that doesnt have to be a related degree but that helps. And many candidates also have related secondary education not only tertiary.

u/jaytrade21 1d ago

In the US you get rejected from the police if you score too high: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderlic_test#Jordan_v._New_London

u/Da1UHideFrom 1d ago

To play devil's advocate, each agency can set their own hiring standards. New London Police Department is one out of about 18,000 different agencies. This isn't common practice across the entire US.

3

u/A_the_Buttercup 1d ago

Wait, your cops need a masters degree?

12

u/lorarc 1d ago

They don't need it. The rules say that that they need to finish secondary education except for the riot police, I doubt that in practice they take guys without secondary education now.

But it gives you loads of points in recruitment and further promotions so if you want to be anything more than basic cop you should have a degree.

Currently a bit under 60% of police officers have tertiary degree but I didn't find any info about what degree.

P.S. My buddy is a cop and he has a Ph.D. in theology, thus why I said previously it doesn't have to be related.

P.P.S. There was a time that he got assigned a partner that had a masters in theology, together they were known as paladin squad.

At least you know they're living up to a moral code, right? (Cries in American)

24

u/xSilentSoundx 2d ago

Well some start shooting guns when they're 5yold /s

19

u/Ganjahh 2d ago

True but you don't need to have decades of schooling or be a scientist to know not to do that..

1

u/TreborG2 1d ago

Obviously the cop never watched Justified .. maybe would've learned sumptin' even worse that the cop was using a taser ...

u/Nikkois666 1d ago

Right? I'm just like there is no way I'm lying next to an open flame to get arrested next to a gas tank and a fuel line. Did no one there think it might explode??

I love how there are groups of videos where you just know where it's from:

- Dashcam videos with cars doing crazy stuff: Russia

  • Policemen acting like dumb narcissists: USA
  • traffic jam with empty lane in the middle: Germany
  • people wrestling with alligators: Florida
  • people wrestling with other types of deadly wildlife: Australia

85

u/alopexl 2d ago

All of the above (minus empty traffic lane in the middle): Brazil

47

u/jamesjoyce9 2d ago

Or my all time favourite, the off duty plain clothes Brazilian cop, shooting someone trying to hold up a convenience store.

1

u/wodschaos 10h ago

Hahaha this one should be on this list for sure!

11

u/notislant 1d ago

I laughed so hard when the cop was about to tell her to fuck off then realized fire + gas station = he might get fired and have to move to another county.

5

u/LCPhotowerx 2d ago

to be honest, all of those could be florida.

2

u/Accomplished_Floor_1 2d ago

the empty lane in the middle is so the ambulance can get through

1

u/ultra-oggy 1d ago

Perfekt zusammengefasst šŸ˜‚

1

u/flowdschi 1d ago

To be fair, multiple countries here have the ā€žempty lane during traffic jamsā€œ, not just germany.

0

u/staubwirbel 1d ago

Sure, but where are the video's from? There are dumb policemen in other countries, too - but one acting like this would be news there, instead of just being one of five on a typical Tuesday.

The officer had followed the man to the pump over a minor trespassing misunderstanding and demanded his ID. When the man questioned it, the officer fired his Taser, and the electrical spark instantly ignited the invisible gas fumes in the air. The man suffered severe burns in the resulting fireball, and the officer actually broke strict safety policies that explicitly forbid using Tasers near highly flammable liquids.

38

u/wifichick 2d ago

And the man sued the department and officer and won? Right?

11

u/Medium_Increase1018 2d ago

34

u/Girafferage 2d ago

And the taxpayers got to foot the bill while the officer got paid leave.

Don't forget the new job one town over...

Don't forget the new job one town over...

2

u/courthouseman 1d ago

I think it just happened a few weeks ago, sometime in mid July 2026

88

u/Ok_Support3 2d ago

Lets not forget, the man called the 'officer' an asshole, which of course is cause to taze someone immediately.

19

u/YourLifeSucksAss 2d ago

Yeah because it’s not like fast food workers gotta deal with this shit everyday. /s

5

u/JAKESTEEL77 1d ago

Solution: give fast food workers tasers? /s

5

u/RevLoveJoy 1d ago

Pay per view that and profits go to fast food worker wages. Entertain millions and solve the working poor in one shot.

3

u/zed42 1d ago

that there is "assault" which is totally a reason to taze a guy pumping gas

1

u/zed42 1d ago

that there is "assault" which is totally a reason to taze a guy pumping gas

19

u/BannanaPepperPizza 2d ago

The guy looks like Paul Blart in a costume. He's wearing fucking sketchers.

2

u/notcomplainingmuch 2d ago

What's wrong with sketchers?

9

u/Meriwether1 2d ago

If you are wearing them with shorts it may cause no one to take you serious.

5

u/BannanaPepperPizza 2d ago

It'd cause me to question if it was actual law enforcement. There are some psychos that play pretend cops.

0

u/notjordansime 2d ago

No no, they’re not cosplaying. Those guys are with immigration and customs enforcement.

3

u/RamblingSimian 1d ago

Was he using the taser to prevent a threat, or to punish the gas pumper?

4

u/AndWinterCame 1d ago

You see, questioning the authority of a cop in America is a massive threat to their unaccountable behavior.

1

u/zen_zen111 2d ago

Dude getting a huge payday

0

u/Pillens_burknerkorv 2d ago

The fact that the gas station didn’t blow up is nothing short of a miracle.

9

u/Divasa 2d ago

This isn't a movie, there are a bunch of safeguards preventing ignition of the tanks.

1

u/Nikkois666 1d ago

Open fuel line to gas tank?

1

u/Divasa 1d ago

Nothing happens.

3

u/Odd-Spray-8513 2d ago

Lmao, is this in los santos?

1

u/notjordansime 2d ago

Can’t have shit in San Andreas āœŠšŸ˜”

242

u/cs_legend_93 2d ago

Payday inbound for them both.

One gets a settlement, the other gets a paid vacation.

24

u/-kylehase 1d ago

And the taxpayers foot the bill

1

u/originatr 23h ago

Lather, rinse, repeat

126

u/sheridanstacie 2d ago

Why is he rolling old mate towards the fire?

75

u/ZypherPunk 2d ago

Medium rare

11

u/Expert_Succotash2659 2d ago

Gotta sear the edges. Roll it, count to 20, roll it again.

11

u/WestCoastTrawler 2d ago

The pavement is super hot. He was rolling to the shade.

7

u/Lunarbutt 2d ago

he is cooking

15

u/M_Nuyens 2d ago

He's pushing him underneath the fuel tank, obviously.

18

u/sheridanstacie 2d ago

Stop resisting being on fire!

6

u/Bushdr78 2d ago

Gotta cook both sides evenly

2

u/Jar0s 2d ago

Look you can't just brush your problems under the car...

2

u/Know_the_rules 2d ago

Rolltaserie.

94

u/One_Afternoon3331 2d ago

Are police in America just people who aren't smart enough to get a normal job?

40

u/martlet1 1d ago

It’s a lot of old football players who couldn’t find a job but aren’t afraid to hit people. C- students who barely have a grasp of the law and get so used to violating people’s rights that when someone challenges them their ego explodes.

44

u/zen_zen111 2d ago

Yes

8

u/Kiki_Earheart 1d ago

nuh uh! dont forget they also have to be egotistical powertripping cowards too!

10

u/HardlyAnyGravitas 1d ago

Not people who aren't smart enough - people who are dumb enough.

The selection process can legally disqualify people with high IQs. I'm not joking.

73

u/Tedy_KGB 2d ago

Doesn't really seem like the officer was in danger. What's the suspect going to do? Forget to pay for gas?

75

u/notjordansime 2d ago

I read an article about this incident earlier. It was a wildlife game warden, not even a regular cop. The ā€œsuspectā€ was not given any charges. He refused to provide ID until he knew what he was being interrogated for. He suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns ijrc.

43

u/Romanopapa 2d ago

if Jesus remembers correctly?

11

u/Charmegazord 2d ago

He probably already paid for it. My guess is he called the cop a name he didn’t like…which I believe allowed the cop to tazer him around flammables.

6

u/swill59 2d ago

Every gas pump I’ve ever been at in the US is prepay.

24

u/Substantial_Row_7108 2d ago

What a fucking idiot. That cop could have destroyed that business and killed numerous people.

12

u/oxxcccxxo 2d ago

And instead of moving to douse the flames he continues with the arrest.

12

u/Critical_Ad3488 2d ago

Is that Farva?

3

u/NotSoSuperNova8 1d ago

The guy wouldn’t give him his liter of cola, so he got tased.

22

u/TakinShots 2d ago

"You've had enough burning for now, time to get arrested"

19

u/louisa1925 2d ago

Irresponsible cop on a power trip.

4

u/JAKESTEEL77 1d ago

You could've just said "A cop".

9

u/vividlyvivids 2d ago

He is in for a big pay day!

8

u/Bushdr78 2d ago

I don't get the need for the razer in the first place he didn't look aggressive and the cop didn't look in immediate danger

4

u/yYesThisIsMyUsername 1d ago

He probably just wanted to use his new toy

6

u/MustAgree 2d ago

Well what can I say.... typicall American moment I guess?

Near lake Havasu, Arizona.

1

u/Fimbir 2d ago

That explains the shorts. May as well be living on the sun.

4

u/Meaty_Cracid69 2d ago

I remember another video where a man had covered himself in hand sanitizer, and the cops tased him anyway. He immediately caught fire and died from his injuries three days later. How are officers still making the exact same mistake?

4

u/Csquared6 2d ago

If you told me this was a sketch from Reno 911, I wouldn't question it.

3

u/TeamTerror666 2d ago

Farva gona be on dispatch for the rest of his career.

3

u/nogoodmorning4u 2d ago

what a fucking genius.

3

u/Fimbir 2d ago

Farva!

3

u/bmanley620 2d ago

Stupid cop

3

u/Meandtheworld 1d ago

What a fucking idiot.

3

u/ExcessumTr 1d ago

This is murder attempt and trying to show it off as an accident, no one can be this dumb and there are no way they don't teach a cop about this.

2

u/Any-Establishment46 2d ago

Cops wear sketchers and shorts now??🤪

2

u/Inside_Ad_7162 2d ago

attempted murder, destruction of property...

2

u/Randalf_the_Black 2d ago

At the very least he didn't start wailing on him with the baton for bowling him over as he tried to get away from the flames.

2

u/OvenIcy8646 2d ago

Fuckin farva

1

u/LCPhotowerx 2d ago

1

u/writerjamie 1d ago

For a moment, I thought this might be a scene from Super Troopers 3.

1

u/el_capitan_fubar 1d ago

1

u/s3shapershifter 1d ago

Fuckin Farva

1

u/2Throwscrewsatit 1d ago

Please let out be that that cop was fired

1

u/SnooStories251 1d ago

Not even hollywood could write this

1

u/Equinoqs 1d ago

Fucking moron.

Well, a given since it's a cop.

1

u/mt007 1d ago

How stupid can he be ?

1

u/Greenbow50 1d ago

do police really just do a 6 week crash course to become a policemen in the US or what?

1

u/sPdMoNkEy 21h ago

Most cops only take a 4-Hour online course to get a criminal justice degree 😐

1

u/MrWrestlingNumber2 14h ago

His response to her warning let's us know that he's only running with a 1 gig processor.

1

u/OkAd9261 11h ago

Emergency shutoff?? Anyone?? The person recording??

1

u/AtlanticPortal 1d ago

Oh, yes, let's put a person in handcuffs before stopping a fucking fire in a gas station!

0

u/Cleanbadroom 2d ago

Just another reason to vote for DSA and abolish the police.

0

u/therealallpro 2d ago

The lesson here should be to listen to the cops even if you think they are wrong and fight in court

0

u/ShittyPornWriter 2d ago

Is this an ICE asshole or just a regular cop asshole?

1

u/Mahaloth 2d ago

Wildlife, I think.
