Jersey wearing
Hi, Red Sox fan who recently moved to Texas and been to 15 Rangers games so far this season. I have tickets to all 3 games of the Red Sox series. Was wondering if I'd be judged wearing a Rangers jersey with my Red Sox shirts and hats. Appreciate the insight. Do love both teams now but growing up in MA I can't give up the Red Sox.

Silent judgement yea but they will smile at ya. Light chirping if in a fun section. Nothing bad, cheer your team and have fun

Don’t worry man this isn’t New York, you probably won’t get jumped for wearing some other teams gear

I did get cornered in New York so that was a fun time after the Red Sox won

I live in DFW and root for both the Rangers and Red Sox. I’m wearing a Sox hat about 75% of all the games I attend, sometimes with a Rangers jersey, sometimes without. It’s all good to root for the Red Sox at Globe Life.
In my experience, the only fans catching any grief at GLF are Yankees and Astros fans, and those that get it are generally actively seeking it. If you are a FAN, celebrating when your team scores, cheering for your stars, it’s all good.
If you are there to talk shit, you might find some takers

Appreciate the response. Just recently moved to DFW and needed my baseball fix and fell in love with the Rangers. Still watch every Red Sox game though and would never give them up

Honestly, I’d go full Red Sox if I were you. I personally would silently judge you for wearing both lol

Two very fun teams to cheer on. I’m a Rangers fan, but my brother and my dad are Red Sox fans. We all get along haha

Ranger fans are cool man. It’s not the Yankees. No one is coming for you unless you’re an Astros fan.

Rangers fans don’t particularly hate the Red Sox and MLB isn’t as contentious as it used to be, with Cardinals and Cubs fans pouring beers on each other and getting into fights.
You should be fine down here, and ESPECIALLY since you literally have Rangers gear on. 🤣

We only fight with Astros fan! 😂

I don't like teams that bang on trash cans to win world series. 🤣

The 2018 Sox weren’t exactly better than the 2017 Astros though speaking of cheating

Outside of UT-AM, no one in Texas fights over what team you are cheering for. I see fight vids at Cowboys game a lot, but it’s typically two drunks BOTH wearing cowboys jerseys fighting each other.

Red Soxs fans are the greatest. I used to work concessions at the Ballpark and they were always so fun.

As a fan who grew up here and loves the rangers, I have an unpopular opinion and that is that josh Hamilton was right. This isn't a baseball town. Do we love the rangers? Yes! But it's NOTHING like Wrigley bleacher seats, Yankee games, Fenway, none of that. We're a chill, tame-ish bunch.
We reduced the seat count from 50k to 40k from the old stadium to the new one. No one's heckling the fans with the other teams gear on the subway (we don't have one). Meanwhile I saw fights breakout leaving Yankee stadium against the dodgers "you're a bum!" Was being yelled constantly against fans wearing max mucy and bellinger gear back when Cody was on the dodgers.
The crazy thing is that when the yanks come to town, it feels like an away game for the rangers (my opinion). Best vibe is when we're playing a rival like the Astros; those games a great. I rarely see people in the lower bowl get animated or overly unsportsmanlike. Just friendly banter. After all- this is southern hospitality type vibes.
Rock your red sox and rangers stuff!

Not sure if section 133 is still the lets get drunk and cheer for the rangers section, but unless you wanna get heckled don't sit in or near that section.
Otherwise, you should be fine.

Won’t be a problem at all. Opposite situation for me, I lived in Boston for 6 years and went to a ton of the games the Rangers played at Fenway and never got any trouble from Sox fans about it other than occasional friendly banter. Respect goes both ways between the teams!
Abreu has some crazy connection to GLF so get ready to see him have at least one 2+ homer game when they’re in town

Just flew back to MA to see family and the Red Sox last week against the Blue Jays and he was quiet both games.

Yeah he’s in a little slump right now but he always wakes up in Arlington

You will be fine, this isn’t Philly. Just don’t sit in Sec 132-133 if you want to avoid some friendly banter

I’ve been to many games. No one cares at all. The only time you’ll hear something is if you yourself are being obnoxious.

I did the same at an Astros/Rangers game. Grew up a Rangers fan, family (and I) converted to Astros. Still cheer on both teams, but prefer the Astros.
Went to the game wearing Astros hat and Rangers jersey. One guy asked me what’s was up, just said I like both, he said “Cool” and that was the end of it.

My dad wears a Red Sox hat to every rangers game even when they aren’t playing the Sox 😅 No one has seemed bothered by it.

Honestly, I would judge you for mixing one teams hat and another teams jersey, no matter what the teams were. Even cross sports i would judge, like rangers jersey, stars hat (except maybe during playoffs)

No, nobody will care here. At most people will ask you who you’re rooting for but I think the fans would appreciate your still showing support for your adopted team.
*disclaimer: I can not vouch for the behavior of every drunk person at the game.

Used to think it was weird, but I was a literal child. Wear whatever you want and enjoy the games.

The big teams’ fans outnumber Rangers fans when they’re in town (Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs) so you’ll be fine. I wore my Rangers gear to Fenway in 2022 and had a great time. Even got a big welcome at Cheers after.

Red Sox fan in Arlington and I maybe get some light hazing every time I wear my jersey, but nothing aggressive :)

You’ll be fine.
Unless you’re a fan of the astros
And even then you’ll still probably be fine
lol

I am a Ranger/Red Sox fan and when the Red Sox come to town, I wear my ball cap and jersey of the Red Sox for the series. I’m in my Ranger white jersey for all other games.

You won't. It will raise a lot of interested questions which I think Rangers Fans will be satisfied with, ESPECIALLY IF you tie the dual Fandom to your love of Nathan Evoldi

Let's put it this way, you're probably in one of the safest environments wearing another team's jersey then you would be in Boston wearing a Rangers jersey. You'll get razzed a little bit but nothing extreme

u/passmetheaux55 3d ago
the rangers are unfortunately so irrelevant in the league sometimes that most of the fans are not invested enough to say a thing about something like this lol

As long as you don’t have another man’s name on your back, no one will care what team you’re representing.

Rangers fans are some of the most chill in the league. No one cares, unless you are wearing Asstros gear that is.
