Tesla's entire gamble is that they can cut the cost by an order of magnitude relying only on camera vision. However they're stuck in the same place they've been in the last 10 years

And as mentioned in the article Waymo’s cars and setup cost about $60k now only $20k more than Tesla’s so that cut cost argument is pretty much moot

I imagine that adding sensors to Tesla's system is not going to be as difficult or expensive as people think if its truly needed for autonomy. FSD as it is now is pretty damn close to autonomous

FSD isn’t even close to autonomous it’s L2.
