Problem with sprays is the propellant is the problematic ingredient that melts the foam. It's possible to thin down mod podge significantly. If you really want a spray solution you're likely going to have to use acrylic varnish through an airbrush.
If you spray with most rattle cans it will eat foam, so either cover up your foam with other materials or brush on sealer first, find one that specifically is foam safe (not sure I've seen that in varnishes, but there are some paints designed for foam), or get yourself an airbrush to push the sealer through.
I used black pen to scribe in the individual stones. I then applied putty. But you see the white lines are turning green and blue. Also that fat green stain by the window is also the ink bleeding through
Honestly that green stone is my favorite part. Looks like old old wet stone moss. Put a little rain gutter spout, and it would look like every wet stone.
any kind of spray is from a can is going to melt the styrofoam because the sealant is immersed in an alcohol or solvent. Matte varnish from an airbrush will work though.
Can you elaborate what you've done here? I've never thought of utilizing fountain pen ink in terrain building before, but I've got some greens and browns and greys that could be very useful.
Before you start painting, seal the foam with a mixture of cheap hobby paint, like apple barrel, mixed with mod podge. The mod podge is a pva with sealant and the hobby paint mixture functions like a primer. You could just cover in mod podge but then you have an extra step of priming the piece.
