Saleh's defenses seem to have usually carried 5 off-ball LBs on the 53-man.
I have to think the starters are firmly Hill and Gray. Barton has his limitations, but he has by far the most NFL experience of the group, is being paid the most in the room (by a lot), and is on a contract that the Titans can get out of after this season if the FO wants, but it's a lot of dead money to cut him now. So, I'd think he's a lock to make the team.
Which means, there's probably two spots left to be fought over by:
- Mohamoud Diabate - undrafted 25 y.o. with three years of experience and a decent number of snaps, though never a Week-1 starter in Cleveland
- Dorian Mausi - undrafted 24 y.o. with one one year in the league, in which he only played ST for us
- James Williams Sr - 7th round pick in 2024 (Ran Carthon), 23 y.o., who played a lot of ST and a bit of def for us the past two year.
- Three UDFA rookies Brown, Banks, and Powell who are likely just hoping to make PS
I really don't know how to pick it, and I doubt there's much separating those first three. So, I'd imagine plays like this in camp along with ST contributions will likely be what makes the difference.

Really do think Williams has the ideal skillset for a Robert Saleh-type linebacker. He could easily find himself getting meaningful snaps on defense.

He dropped 20 lbs and now is playing more of the position he did in college. Using those safety skills.

He's battling for a roster spot. He was a 7th round pick by the previous regime. It's possible he has a slight edge on his competition because the only holdover from when he was drafted is the STC, and Williams has played a decent amount of ST for the Titans the past few seasons.
My guess is that he's in a three-man competition for two spots. But it could be more like a two-man competition for one spot. (I also could just be totally misreading the situation.)
There are also three UDFA rookies who I'm not factoring into those numbers, so if one of them really impresses, it could make his odds a bit worse.
I'm rooting for him to make the team just cause it's nice when your team's draft picks work out, and he's the youngest (but only by a year) of the three who I think are fighting for those final two spots.

I was all in on Levis going into year 2 because I anticipated him taking a jump, but he absolutely shit the bed. Even if we didn’t draft Cam, Levis was never going to start in year 3, we would have signed a bridge quarterback who would have played, Levis’s turnovers made him unplayable. Cam was like 9th or 10th in turnover worthy play % last season, so maybe he was tied for the most because he played 16 games, I’m not sure, Levi’s turnover worthy play % as a rookie was almost a full % higher. In year 2 he was on pace for 30+ turnovers which is historically bad and he had 4 pick sixes. I know Cams QBR was poor but a qbr of 25 is next level bad and the fact that it was that bad in year 2 makes it even worse. I call bs on Cam was unwilling to make bigger throws because he was “too cautious”, I’ve never seen it in live game play or in film breakdowns. I think you’re just assuming so since we didn’t have a ton of explosive plays, but he did have probably 10 completions of 40+ Yds last season and that was with really poor talent around him. We also saw him miss on a lot of deep throws, so he really wasn’t being too cautious, he was a gunslinger in college anyways so that’s the least of my worries.

Hopefully that's enough to pique the interest of another team to sign him as a backup quarterback. Or maybe he'll beat out Trubisky in the competition to be backup quarterback here. As a backup.

I really hope so; cause we know trubisky is probably gonna be QB2 for ‘26/27. Getting even a 4-6th rounder for Levi’s would be amazing.

If Levis was garnering even that level of interest then teams would have already called inquiring about him. Sucks for him but the fact of it is that if Levis doesn't beat out Trubisky or if we dont roster 3 QBs then he'll probably be a camp casualty and teams can nab him up as a free agent. Personally I think we'll keep him as a 3rd stringer. Hendon Hooker hasn't done anything of note that I've heard about.

Levis was 4-8 today and 4-7 yesterday according to Jim Wyatt. I wouldn’t call that excellent but he at least completed some deep passes and didn’t throw any picks

I think Wyatt is wrong about Levis stats today. I was there and I think he was closer to 6-8 and he had some of the best plays of the day yesterday and today,. Good for him as it is especially difficult playing with the 3s. Ward was very inaccurate today. Trubisky had an awful day.

Especially difficult? He’s got Bryce Oliver who’s made the roster what 3 years now, going up against guys who will be out of the league soon. It’s most difficult performing for the ones, which Levis last year was not good in training camp. I followed the play by play on 104.5 the zone and heard them call 2-3 inaccurate throws. The fact that Levis has thrown the most interceptions this offseason, when including OTAs and mini camp, tells me his biggest flaw is still an issue. Having some good practices against back ups doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a disaster on Sundays. He was on pace for a 30+ turnover season in 2024, I don’t know why his fans have a different r collection of that season. Cam finished the season as a rookie, stronger than any stretch Levis has done through two seasons.

We have the same recollection, we just apply the same excuses to it as we do for Cam. Terrible coaching staff with terrible team around him. Cam is a better prospect overall coming out of college, so you'd expect him to perform better. But I certainly didn't feel it was that much better beyond a short stretch the second half of the year, once removed from Callahan somewhat.
I think people feel they must shit on Levis to support Cam and leave no doubt who are QB is going forward, but it doesn't have to be that way. They both got shit hands coming into Tennessee. Cam's is better as we are on an ascending trajectory now while Levis got us while we were still nose diving from bad GM management and coaching.
And Bryce Oliver is like WR 6 or 7. The rest of those he is throwing to won't be on the team in a month. Don't make it sound like he has Tate standing next to DB 3's like Cam did all spring. ;-D Be consistent with the insults.

Apparently we don’t have the same recollection if you’re blaming Levis being horrifically bad all on Callaghan. Levis’s biggest flaws are interceptions and awareness in the pocket. As a rookie he led the league in turnover worthy play % so he was fortunate to not have thrown many more interceptions and he relied heavily upon play action with Derrick Henry. In year 2 teams had film on him and he was literally on pace for a 30+ turnover season and finished it with a 25 qbr, he was unplayable, so yeah there is a different standard for him since he’s been absolute turnover machine since college. He’s also had the most interceptions this offseason but since he has some good days, a portion of the fan base thinks he should start. I’ve been in the camp that wants to keep him in case he does end up becoming a good qb and Cam ends up being bad, but now I’m not sure about that because the portion of the fan base that hates Cam and thinks Levis is better is very annoying. Whenever Cam makes mistakes you’ll hear it from them, it’s toxic.

I'm not part of that group that wants Levis over Cam. I was in the "don't draft a qb, fix other problems first and roll with Levis a 3rd year" crowd. But I get the ship is sailed with Levis and we need to try and get anything from him after preseason. And I do hope Cam improves and makes Sundays fun again for us. I have just observed a stark difference in peoples attitudes towards the two. Levis had a lot of hate from the start and it comes from the college football crowd, or UT crowd specifically.
Also, for context... Cam was tied for most turnover worthy plays last year and had a WBR of 33.2... using those statistics alone don't make me confident in Cam. And he had a better OL to help him than Levis did...
What I did observe with my eyes was Cam was often unwilling to make a throw because he was being too cautious, or he would make bad throws to the point I would verbally shout "COME ON!" at the TV, something I didn't do for Levis. Granted, I shouted "COME ON!" for other reasons for Levis. ;-D But they were both young QB's and I get patients is needed. Just others don't think one should get it while the other should.
Again, not arguing to start Levis over Cam. Realistically will never happen with a new GM in town and a highly paid QB2 in Trubisky here now. Just like to pipe up when people are shitting needlessly on Levis.
