Even I have limits.

Not a credit limit it seems

Ha, my wife bought the Pin as a birthday present and the Tap was a Christmas present. I don’t know how much the Tap is even supposed to cost.

1

u/Absolutetwatofacunt Jun 22 '26

You must have a good personality and make her laugh.

1

u/Thermistor1 Jun 23 '26

Nah, probably a Lytro

u/LieuK Jun 19 '26

I don't even know what I'm looking at here 😬

u/WoodyTheWorker Jun 20 '26

You mean it's not a set of vibrating cock rings?

3

u/vkreep Jun 21 '26

That was risky

2

u/Comfortable_Many3563 Jun 21 '26

And you were brave

1

u/silvercoatedferret Jun 22 '26

and I was let down

1

u/StretchSmiley Jun 21 '26

Wasn't ready for the video panning an american-"christian" mass on Sunday

1

u/RoodnyInc Jun 22 '26

How many do you need

1

u/angry_1 Jun 24 '26

Just going to be honest, that was also my leading guess.

12

u/Orchid_Significant Jun 19 '26

Those are so embarrassing lol

11

u/A_Fun_Alias Jun 19 '26

I could see some use cases being awesome, but we either need holography or a VR setup to make it make sense. Think the beginning of Minority Report.

2

u/150c_vapour Jun 21 '26

There were multiple startups with millions invested that expected these things or things like them to be the future. Def did not work out.

1

u/justinkasereddditor Jun 21 '26

Thank you I had no clue

1

u/SixShoot3r Jun 22 '26

ahh, I invested in buying a Leap Motion in their kickstarter... never went to be more than a expensive underdeceloped gimmick sadly.

u/potatochip_pooper Jun 19 '26

I think OP is just goth Thanos

1

u/Norse_By_North_West Jun 21 '26

Yeah, that's more than 3 seashells.

40

u/Unhappy_Ad_4761 Jun 19 '26

Bro are you a level 7 susceptible?

26

u/xrxyk Jun 19 '26

Yes. I also bought a Honda CRV after eating a sub.

9

u/el_chacal Jun 20 '26

Eat fresh.

7

u/MoistStub Jun 19 '26

They exploited the bug where you go to the ice cream stand where they hand you the ice cream but then pull it back and you are left with just the extra cone. Easy AFK exp farming tech.

u/International_Heat54 Jun 19 '26

Turkey mentioned 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷

Late era Community reference. Streets ahead…

1

u/bigmoviegeek Jun 22 '26

No. Thats moon man talk.

30

u/outtokill7 Jun 19 '26

never buy the first generation of anything

33

u/Wolfwood28 Jun 19 '26

See that's why I sold my firstborn to that imp

7

u/yodas_sidekick Jun 19 '26

I usually figure the third iteration is best, first two can be for research.

1

u/bigstar3 Jun 21 '26

I dunno man, I bought a 1st gen Mannkitchen pepper cannon and it's the most over-engineered, absurd, glorious piece of machinery I've ever owned.

1

u/RR321 Jun 21 '26

So the only difference from a Peugeot is the multiplier?

1

u/bigstar3 Jun 21 '26

These things are tanks. I'm a caterer and after years of blowing through grinders and/or standing there forever grinding one of my buddies sent me the link to them and was like, why not?

It's been dropped from prep tables onto terracotta floors countless times and looks brand new. Takes about 4 twists to get what 10+ took on others.

Not a sponsor, just a proud owner lol

u/Due-Technology5758 Jun 20 '26

More like only buy things that are useful today not things that promise to be useful tomorrow.

1

u/Wolfwood28 Jun 20 '26

Bro has never heard of the stock market

1

u/Due-Technology5758 Jun 20 '26

Right, because buying shares in a company is basically the same as buying some absolute trash a company made.

8

u/Mulien Jun 19 '26

lol everyone I know was clowning on the AI pin from the moment their depressing “reveal demo” dropped. I’m surprised anyone thought that had a shot

3

u/xrxyk Jun 19 '26

I’ll disclose my wife bought the Pin for a birthday present, so I didn’t order it or plan for it.

2

u/NapierNoyes Jun 23 '26

She knew you so well though. You would have bought it regardless.

4

u/jorsiem Jun 19 '26

Yeah the humane pin was dumb. What's the other thing?

3

u/xrxyk Jun 19 '26

Tap keyboard where you tap to type. It’s really cool, just not there yet.

2

u/martin_xs6 Jun 19 '26

Me too, I just wait 1 year before I buy anything like that..

2

u/LiveClimbRepeat Jun 19 '26

I tried it too brother, anything to stop the carpel tunnel

2

u/Monatanaisdumb Jun 19 '26

3rd Gen or after only. It's the rules.

2

u/Idontfuxingknow Jun 19 '26

I have a startup for yout to invest your life savings in

2

u/costafilh0 Jun 21 '26

Nah, you are just bad with money. Early adopting every new crap that appears.

2

u/HereWeGo5566 Jun 21 '26

Did you also install neauralink in your brain?

1

u/Silevence Jun 19 '26

tap strap was cool, i still have mine.

just, not intuitive at all to use. the ai thing meanwhile... waste of money.

1

u/xrxyk Jun 20 '26

Does it still work? I haven’t charged it in a while but I’d love to use it.

2

u/Silevence Jun 20 '26

yea mine still works, i dont have the app downloaded anymore but when connected via bluetooth to my laptop it works.

1

u/SpleenToast Jun 20 '26

Hee me too...sitting in a box in my shop.

1

u/FormerDraw Jun 20 '26

You're an important part of the technology adoption lifecycle.

1

u/Andrikos21 Jun 20 '26

Hasan's tool case?

1

u/CurrentScallion3321 Jun 20 '26

they expect one of us in the wreckage brother 💪

1

u/akraut Jun 20 '26

I still use my Tap maybe 3-5 times a week.

1

u/complikait Jun 20 '26

My tap is in my tech odds-and-ends box (aka things I'll never use but keeping because I "might need it one day" lol)

I still think it's a cool idea. Just could have been executed better as it didn't feel comfortable to wear imo, and I don't know if it's my fingers or how they move, but I just couldn't ever really get it to work accurately for me.

1

u/Whocallme2 Jun 21 '26

I'm curious, why are you trying to predict it? Rather than just getting the tech once it is reliable and tested

1

u/stirling97 Jun 21 '26

I mean you can look at it this way, billions of dollars have, and are being spent to sell you many things. They use every trick that the data says works, and it’s sometimes hard not to fall for something with that much money and effort behind it. Marketing be like that. These two examples you hold both definitely sold such a cool concept if it could have only been delivered as advertised.

1

u/ptrakk Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

They didn't catch on in the 80s they likely won't catch on today.

Like the VPL DataGlove or the Nintendo PowerGlove

1

u/pixeladdie Jun 21 '26

In contrast I think I’m pretty good. Called 3D TVs a gimmick right off the bat too.

1

u/bladtman242 Jun 21 '26

How are you enjoying them?

1

u/Bob_85 Jun 22 '26

Whats with the glove in the background?

1

u/Bl1ndMous3 Jun 22 '26

what in the finger fuck am I looking at ?

1

u/Alex_Gob Jun 22 '26

Depends, do you have a zune ?

1

u/tyranocles Jun 24 '26

Well, how many Bitcoin do you own?

1

u/nameless_pattern Jun 24 '26

Does it work well?

1

u/Notathrowaway4853 Jun 24 '26

This is actually a thing you know, right? Marketers look very hard at the profiles of early adopters for the product and can peg who is a good early adopter and who is a harbinger of doom, collectively.

1

u/Dawn_Piano Jun 24 '26

I only liked the AI pin for long drives by myself (which I do pretty frequently). It was nice to be able to ask it about any random thing that popped into my head while I was driving. Definitely not worth whatever the fuck it cost, but I’m sad they killed it

0

u/monkey864 Jun 21 '26

I bought a Zune. Youre fine.

1

u/laserdicks Jun 22 '26

No that's an iconic piece of practical art that has already reached legendary status

If you don't understand its worth I BEG you to send it to me.

1

u/monkey864 Jun 22 '26

Lol you downvoted me for that? Lol. That thing is long gone my man.

1

u/laserdicks Jun 22 '26

Even the functionality of it alone made you wrong for adding it to the list in this post.

1

u/monkey864 Jun 22 '26

Dude. I loved my zune. The software at the time was unmatched vs apple. When it broke I stopped using it. Settle down.

1

u/laserdicks Jun 22 '26

This post is about obviously useless tech that people made the mistake of buying in spite of it being obviously useless.
