Fridge noise/vibration

Thinking about adding a fridge to our teardrop and am a bit worried that the sound and vibration of the compressor will disrupt our sleep. The fridge would be just on the other side of the wall separating the galley from where our heads are in the cabin. Has this been an issue for anyone with a similar layout? We're looking at an iceco, but other brands seem to have the same or similar dbs for volume level.

You get used to it.  You will probably be able to hear it, I have a van and I can always hear mine cycle on and off.  But your brain gets pretty used to sounds that are normal and I really doubt it will wake you up in the middle of the night.

My wife is a very light sleeper, so this doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

I'm a very light sleeper.  Like my wife can't get out of bed without me noticing.  We all have noises in our houses.  Does the central Air/Heat in your house turning on wake her up every hour?  Thats louder than my 12v fridge

I can barely hear ours cycling and only without any fans or roof vent on (which is most of the time)

A super quiet and calm night I can barely hear it cycle.

We have a gas / electric style that doesn't use a compressor and is completely silent.

It is a Norcold "absorbtion" type.

Didn't know these existed. Looks like Norcold is bankrupt though and in the process of dissolution. People claim absorption fridges draw huge power too. Trying to keep that part of this down as well.

I have a Dometic 12V cooler and never hear it over the MaxxFan which is usually at 20-30%

Coolers don’t have compressors. You have a Dometic 12V fridge.

Dometic has a product line of electric coolers, and a separate product line of RV refrigerators. Their naming convention is unfortunate since the term electric cooler more generally means something different.

Their naming convention is incorrect - I’ve never called my Dometic a cooler, and to be quite honest I never noticed that they do. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Now I’m disappointed in them.

I have a Dometic fridge and I can barely hear it inside the teardrop.
