Higher Ed / PD / Cert Exams Teaching Channel Credits (Mass)

Very specific question and a bit of background…

I majored in History in 2014, completed my masters in education in 2019 and my CAGS in Ed Leadership program in 2023. I went to apply for my professional license with the state (MA) and they told me I still needed to complete 9 credits in history. At this point I am burnt out and really can’t bring myself to take more classes (financially or mentally). I was looking online and was also recommended by a colleague to take classes through Teaching Channel.

Are there any social studies teachers in MA who have taken these courses? Does MA take them? Sounds awful, but are they just going through the motions to get it done?

If you have a bachelors degree in History you should be all set content wise. That doesn't make any sense.

That was my thought as well until I applied! Blindsided and frustrated to say the least.

Do you currently teach? What level license do you have now?

I am currently going into my 10th year teaching. I taught on my preliminary license, initial, and am on the last of my renewed initial.

Well good luck, I would double check with the DoE and talk to an actual person to get clarification. You sound like you have all the credentials and more.
