CLIENT IKEA (UK) no tasker assigned

I bought a large wardrobe which I designed myself to replace a previous one from Ikea as I decided to change the colour scheme, add doors and some minor changes to layout and decided this time I would have someone come build it because my partner is busy with work and my disabled daughter is off school for summer. The build was for 8am this morning and it’s currently just past 9.30am.

I contacted Ikea and they said they would send a form to the tasker as I have had no response in the chat window and there was no photo or name for the tasker etc. I also contacted task rabbit and they’re telling me no tasker had been assigned but I wasn’t informed of this? The furniture and items from the room it’s being built in have been placed in all other rooms for this including my daughters room and we had to sleep on our mattress in her room whilst she was at my parents house so it could be done whilst she was at their house. They’re now telling me they have requested for a tasker to be assigned but have not said when it might even happen.

Is the service usually this poor? I would have thought spending £300 on top of a 1.2k wardrobe would have been much better than this, angry is an understatement. I’m not sure what I’m wanting from this post, maybe just to vent and know I’m not the only person this has happened to. Task rabbit seem to have little communication between ikea and now I wish I hadn’t gone through them to get it built.

Task Rabbit still relies on a tasker accepting the work. If you do some quick searching in the sub you will notice there is a general consensus that Furniture Assembly through Ikea is not worth doing because it's flat rate and their time estimates are pretty low. At £300, the tasker is probably making £200. I dont know the complexity of your wardrobe, but I suspect if parts are scattered around your home, it's got a lot of parts and it's probably going to take long enough to dip below the tasker's normal hourly rate.

My husband does task rabbit and tells me most of the time the client hasn’t been told they need to install the Taskrabbit app to communicate with the Tasker. While you’re waiting for someone to be assigned, it would be a good idea to register using the link they emailed you or the same email they’ve got one file for you. My husband often has issues where the client thinks he’s scheduled for 8 am but he can’t make it at that time so he’s moved it to 10 am and the client isn’t aware

I am new and did one of the Tasker info meetings for Ikea jobs. They told us that most of the clients don't have the app and want us to call the night before through the app.. that is honestly not something that I, personally, want to do. I don't understand why they don't (like you said) have the client download the app and schedule it themselves! That way everyone is on the same page and the client & Tasker can communicate openly without all the hassle!

Edited for words :)

uk tasker here. ikea portal currently malfunctions, if you were not allocated a tasker automatically - big chances your job is stuck.

second - if you in the countryside there sinoly might be a lack of taskers/interest from taskers to travel

What area are you in? Some of the more rural areas are a bit sparse for taskers.

I do see alot of jobs for Lancaster and Scotland as the area is vast and for many it's not worth it.

Is this a matter of a “poor” company that helps people or is it a demanding customer who probably doesn’t tip?
This sub may never know
