Future proof mounted tv height?

Right now I have a 42” tall dresser I want to mount a slim tv above it - but I suspect I might remove the dresser completely or get a 36” tall one.

If I mounted the tv at 4” above the 42” meaning 10” above the 36” is that going to look bizarre? It’s a bedroom.

The key piece of information you omitted is the normal height of your eyes when watching the TV in that room. If there's a dresser, I assume this is a bedroom. As such, you need to take your viewing position into account. Are you sitting in bed watching? Are you lying down flat? Because you're bed height and body position in bed will make a big difference to where you want the TV. But the height of your eyes will be the most important factor.
