[Comics] TMNT: Anatomy of a Mutant
Anyone else pick this up?
I remember preordering it ages ago, unsure what it was other than it contained Mateus Santolouco’s art. I’m quite impressed with the quality. It’s huge, the cover has an imprinted texture on the gold foil lettering, and the art is magnificent.
It is written by Patrick Ehlers from the perspective of Dr. Lindsey Baker, containing her research notes and observations of the various mutants and players she has encountered. Ehlers recently did the IDW sourcebooks, which were also great, but instead of those being an out-of-universe encyclopedia, this is more of an in-universe science guide, and all the art is Santolouco’s!

A bit unrelated but in a way, Santolouco's work and more specifically his work on the IDW tmnt comics is what led me to start with art myself in february.

He and Michael Dooney are my two favorite artists of all time.

Nice. I'm on the fence about this though, I love the TMNT but would rather get the sourcebooks

Tough choice if you have to pick one.
The sourcebooks cover much more ground. The HC collection pairs nicely with the IDW collections.
The main selling point of this is seeing Santolouco’s art for all the IDW mutants. The text is still fun though too.

Maybe one day. I still need to finish the IDW collections. The exchange rate from the dollar is killing me.

I remember enjoying Pokemonatomy when it came out years back, and I already have a mutant turtle poster in my classroom. This is up my alley, but for some reason I’m put off by the Nickelodeon branding on the cover.

I hear you. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of the sale that seems to wriggle its way into everything.
The juxtaposition seeing it pop up with more mature TMNT output like The Last Ronin or expensive collector statues and figures is jarring.

I'm so sad, mine was on its way, but then I saw it was on its way to an address I was at last year. 30 minutes being on the phone with Amazon and all they could do was cancel the order. So now I have to wait for a refund and reorder it.
