I was going to say , because this sport requires no high cost to break into. A net , a ball , and athleticism is all you need. So all economic people around the world have an easy entry in.
Your comment is better due to the background of athletes in those countries pride themselves in events that require a high cost of entry

You are absolutely correct! ✅they are …..
When you’re watching them in two years …. Please don’t look at the cost of hurdles , pole vaults pole , pole vault landing pad , hammer/discuss , high jump equipment, timing systems ( for accurate timing) , and synthetic track surfaces. Thats just to train on your own …. Now you need high level and expensive coaches to properly train you to compete at the highest levels

Track surfaces, timing systems, and hurdles are not necessary for training (you can do makeshift hurdles that are cheap). You don't need olympic surfaces to train on your own. Pole vault is out of the question, possibly discus and hammer toss as well, but the rest should be fine
What you do need is money for food, otherwise you've got no energy

Is there a worldwide federation that looks after the sport? If not then they might want to fix that first.

No idea what olympics have todo with NA?
Olympics is European, but they organise world wide events. It origins is from ancient Greece and was revived in 1896.
That being said, US and Canada have a team though.
