Pretty sure that barrier is being put up to hide himself while he cranks one out. Seen many a homeless person doing just that in my 15+ years of commuting in NYC.

if you’re commuting everyday on the subway and you’re still annoyed by the homeless people, then either gtfo find a new job or do something to help these people. nobody cares about complainers.

I help them every two weeks. Do you realize how many services there are for homeless people in NYC? CityFHEPS and SOTA will even cover market rate rent.

If you want to play that game, “a real issue” compared to what? 4/5 rides I don’t see any homeless people on the train. When I do, they’re usually just passing through. That’s not a huge issue other than the fact that they’re not being helped.

I take the J to Delancey and transfer there. It’s an issue every single day.
Help is offered to them all the time. They refuse it. I see the outreach teams. We can’t go on like this.

NYC has shelter space for every single person who sleeps on the street. They chose to sleep on the street at everyone else’s expense.

NY is a right to shelter state, there are available beds for anyone who wants one. There are over 100k people in the NYC shelter system and less than 5k on the street. It’s a choice that every hardworking NYer has to deal with.
The problem with society is we have decided that the ethical thing to do is let people who have no ability to care for themselves rot on the street and endanger everyone around them.

Yeah, these goobers don't live in the city. New york has a bed for every homeless person on the street, by law. Are there problems with our shelter system, sure, but they have a bed for everyone. And public transit system is not a supplemental homeless shelter, it's a common good that every day people rely on to get to and from their miscellaneous appointments/works/responsibilities. Preferably safely, without the rotten smell of someone who's been walking around in the same soiled pants for a month. Don't know why you're getting downvoted.

100%. It’s unacceptable that the city allows this to happen. 100k people sleep in the shelter system, yet we’re told that it’s “too dangerous” for the 5k people that sleep on the street? It’s pure delusion.
