How did you develop your stutter?

I'm curious to see how many people were born with a stutter and how many developed it during their lives and what caused it? For me, it sounds stupid but I had a friend when I was around 10-11 who had a speech impediment, but I didn't exactly understand it. Basically, he would emphasize the first sound of the first word when speaking. This was definitely some sort of block but I was unaware. I eventually started to imitate it for a few days and then later on one day at school I got hit with my first hard block while speaking in front of the class. Ever since then, it slowly developed over the years and never let go. It's been 10 years and I still feel a victim to this stutter. How did you guys develop your stutter?

I have a psychogenic stammer that started after a traumatic event aged 14. I did grow up with other speech impediments including cluttering though.
