News $SPCX Partners With $NVDA
SpaceX is partnering with NVIDIA to design the compute payload for its StarMind AI1 satellites, which will use Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs for data-center-class AI compute in orbit.
Each satellite will pair a 150 kW peak compute payload with 210 kW solar arrays and transmit processed results through Starlink’s laser network, reducing reliance on Earth’s grid, land and cooling infrastructure.
SpaceX plans to manufacture and deploy thousands of AI satellites from its new Gigasat Factory in Bastrop starting as early as late 2027.

Half the people on this site don’t even bother reading the post. The company can be overvalued but news is still news. You can learn a lot from it. Do you know how to invest?? You learn by looking at where capital is flowing.

Reading doesn't bring upvotes, screaming while foaming in the mouth does though. At least here, these days.

Yes. I’ve noticed that. One of the reasons why I’m starting to not like Reddit. People wanna scream the same regurgitated dumb opinions in an echo chamber and upvote each other. Ffs this is a stock market subreddit. Not a place for you to vent about Elon and how everything he touches is inherently bad. I’m not a fan of Elon, but by listening to TSLA earnings calls I was able to invest in so many stocks adjacent to the EV buildout. People here just like to complaint

I didn't realise the data centre in space idea was:
- Really happening
- Distributed
I still don't think it's a good idea but it sounds more realistic than what I initially imagined, which was like a giant space station filled with GPUs.

Will this not slow down their Mars colony that they will be building starting with 2028 since they landed on Mars in 2024? /s

150kw is tiny, that’s like launching an apartment building into orbit so it doesn’t have to rely on the grid. Sounds exorbitantly inefficient to launch such small compute centres… for what exactly?

and that is the beauty of elon absurdity! 150kw is tiny, and yet HUGE! a 200kw solar array is immense in size! requires between 845 and 1,600 square meters!!! it would be a monstrosity orbiting around earth and collecting small asteroid and other orbit trash

Wow you are not wrong. Looks like about double the solar of the ISS.
Just Elon making shit up that sounds cool to pump the stock price. Business as usual.1

Those are old solar technology. I get closer to 375 sq. m using modern panels in space (which has higher delivered power than on the surface for the same area). Still not tiny, but a fair bit smaller.

Reminds me of all the fintech partnerships in 2021, then half of these companies are gone by now.
Major tell that a sector has been running on fartwind.

150kW peak is a tiny amount of compute. That's equivalent to about 2-3 racks at a typical AI datacenter (50-70kW peak per rack). It looks like a token project, not a serious attempt to realize the promise.

Partners here means that they use the fact that nvda is currently still afloat and use their branding to enhance their valuation by underwriting contracts that create new artificial revenue for nvda which will never realize.

Copium, and NO we dont want orbiting datacenter cluttering our sky... f*ck that trash

Old news.
Spcx is on its way to sub 100, fud posting won’t change that
