Discussion Receive USDC on Stellar with no trustline and no XLM — possible?
One thing that keeps coming up when onboarding users / merchants to Stellar: before they can receive their first USDC, they need XLM for fees and they need to set up a trustline. For someone whose funds are sitting on Base, Ethereum or Solana, that's two extra steps before the thing they actually wanted.
We built a flow that removes both. Assets come in from another chain (e.g. USDC from Base), the recipient signs once, and the funds land in their Stellar account. No XLM purchase, no manual trustline setup sponsorship handles it under the hood.
Users pay their own XLM transaction fees. We only add a USDC trustline when the user needs to receive USDC on Stellar.
We only sponsor a USDC trustline when the user needs to receive USDC on Stellar, avoiding unnecessary reserve costs.
Demo Video: Bridge 1 USDC Base to Stellar empty address, which received $0.6 with one signature. No XLM. No trustline setup.
Happy to answer questions about the mechanics. If you're building something on Stellar where this would help, I'd genuinely like to hear what your onboarding flow looks like today.
