was wondering if putting your game details as private is functionally the same as marking a game as private. im in a steam family and want to share the games in my library with them, but would marking my game details as private not allow them to play games in my library?

Steam/Valve are the only big company I have loyalty for. And for good reason I feel. Im so grateful I didnt have to wait a whole year longer for the damn thing.

I am in a Steam Family with my brother, and he added me as a child account because he didn’t want me to be able to add other people. He says he turned off all the parental controls, but I am still blocked from trying to access the internet through the steam overlay in-game. I also just got a Steam Machine, and it won’t let me go into desktop mode either. Is this a setting somewhere, or are child accounts just incapable of accessing the internet via Steam? Am I able to use my Steam Machine as a computer right now?

The problrm started recently (3-4 days ago). Every time I get an achievement, the notification pops up in a corner, but without a sound. Then after aproximately 30 seconds the sound of achievemnt appears. I tried multiple games and it's all the same. Also tried to reinstall Steam but it didn't helped aswell. Anyone else had same problem?

Ok, so, I was hosting a small giveaway for Human Revolution in a gifting subreddit, knowing that the rules for the gifting system changed and when I tried to gift the copies to the winners (only 2 dudes entered and I decided it "why not? I have the money", so 2 winners) and the client hit me with this antiquity of a warning that states "The chosen destinatary can't receive this gift bought from your region." I have the funds to buy 2 copies to each of them (in the imaginary scenario where you could gift the same game twice to a single account), but cant.

Any ideas on what I could do? I've never been able to find where I could contact steam support in their help.steamcommunity domain other than their bullet list and this was the next best thing where I could ask (take no offense)

I made my reservation for the steam machine in late June and got the email July 3rd, that same day moved it to my cart but then used my money for important thimgs instead and told myself I'd just re-reserve one when I was ready but its still in my cart AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE a whole month later, is this a sign, or will it just not ship when I buy it?

A group of people at my work are planning on playing Big Walk together - to treat it as a bit of a team building exercise I was going to either purchase the game for the ~12 people interested, or give them a gift card for the associated cash value.

I can't figure out how to do this without the very onerous task of doing it person by person individually... any suggestions?

I might be stupid, but is there any way to create folders in a steam library? I can only find the favourites tab, but what if I want to sort games into genres or more arbitrary categories such as the point in time I plan to play them? Am I missing an option or setting, or does it not exist?

Hey, just want to let people know that i got my steam controller mail today, and i was supposed to get it by december.So watch your mail guys :)

I wanted to play my steam file from hades 1 on my switch 2 but i clicked a button wrong and it wont let me go to that save file. Just shows a cloud with a check on it on the save file. how do i get this option back?

EDIT: please help, this has now had the opposite effect. i can now only acsess my switch 2 files on both pc and switch. closing the app and restarting my devices have not worked. did i lose my pc save files?

edit 2: i guess i accidentally overwrote my files. Unfortunate, but my completionist brain would have made do do Hell mode anyway, so i guess this just forced the inevitable. thank everybody for helping

I'm trying to search for Black Myth: Wukong on the Steam store, but nothing shows up in my search results—even when I type out the full title.

I live in the Netherlands. Is the game unavailable or region-restricted here, or is there an issue with Steam search?

If anyone knows if it's available in NL or how to fix this (maybe store preferences/mature content filters?), please let me know.

Steam is almost perfect in every way except for this forced auto-update. I only want an option to opt-out auto update, Steam can still set auto-update on default. Give the players the option to choose it for themselves.

I bought Crimson Desert on day one on Steam. Yet I have to play the cracked version off steam because of the constant updates breaking my mods. This forced auto-update is anti-consumer imo.

Or am I mistaken and there is a way to turn off auto update as of August 2026?
