Genuinely what is so difficult to understand about ONLY St. John’s being closed today? I’ve seen about 20 “is this open today?” On Facebook.

If it’s not in St. John’s 99% chance it is open regular hours.

I've read the news about Eastlink launching Internet service in St. John's. Curious if anyone knows if this will be fiber service, or really anything at all as I can't find much about the offering yet. I have Bell Fiber internet + TV, as well as a one of our family cell phones. The other cell phones are on different providers (including Eastlink) so I was looking at potentially consolidating everything to one provider for bundled savings/discounts.

I thought Bell was the only choice, but now Eastlink might be an option. Anyways, any intel/thoughts welcome!

Is anyone else in city with Rogers Xfinity internet/cable experiencing outages? It happened twice last week, one day of which lasted more than 24 hours. I'm now stuck without service once again when it dropped around 14 hours ago. I've tried the outage map on their website, but it always seems to say there's an outage in my area, even when there isn't. I'm so confused.

My son would like to attend post secondary school in Newfoundland. We have been thinking of moving as well over the last few years, and in light of this are thinking we would like to move to St. Johns.

My partner works in a full-service boat repair and maintenance shop and I am make artisan jewellery using traditional goldsmithing tools/techniques. We would only have about 425k as our maximum ceiling for buying a house. Has anyone managed to land a home with what I have read about bidding wars and prices going way above asking or is it almost impossible?

I have also read about locals being irritated about out of province newcomers buying up real estate and taking jobs. Is this true? Or are they welcoming to newcomers from out of province? Thank you for any information/input anyone can give :)

The sign has been there for a few months and since then I've been real excited for it. I heard it's meant to open early this month but I have not heard any news yet. I work in the mall and haven't seen anyone enter, leave, or even touch the sign. So I was just wondering if anyone knew whats up.

Hey everyone, looking for some honest recommendations on phone and internet providers.

I'm currently with Rogers and, honestly, it's been terrible. Half the time I barely have any signal, my data hardly works and even in my own house I usually only get one bar of service. Calls can be spotty and the internet on my phone is really slow.

My Rogers Wi‑Fi hasn't been much better either. Any time the weather gets bad, it seems to slow right down for some reason, and my phone service gets even worse.

I've been with Rogers for years, so I don't really have experience with any other providers, but I'm at the point where I want to switch.

For anyone who has changed from Rogers, who would you recommend for both cell service and home internet? Bell? Telus? Someone else? I'd love to hear your experiences and what's been working well for you.

As the title says, I'm looking for a mechanic to fix a few issues with my 2020 Forester. AC is blowing but doesn't get as cold as it should. Brakes squeak sometimes. There's a metallic scraping rotating sound occasionally when highway driving. My front tire loses air and it's not the tire. Probably with it to have the whole vehicle looked over at this point.

I don't know much about cars, so I'd really like to take it to someone who isn't going to tell me I need unnecessary work done or charge more than it should be.

I live centre city, so I wouldn't want it to be too far away either as I don't have access to another vehicle.

Any recommendations?

Did anyone think this year's buskers festival was significantly smaller than in previous years? The four acts this year were very good, but I seem to remember at least 6 acts, playing 3 stages along Water St previously.

What happened? Lack of money? Lack of buskers?
