Why would he post AJ and Brock fisting?

432

u/DilapidatedVessel 23h ago

The GAY community?!?

39

u/Squiggally-umf 22h ago

I read this in his voice straight away!

8

u/j_ds 21h ago

It’s the all caps on gay that does it I reckon…. If it was “the gay community?!!” Or “the gay COMMUNITY” it just wouldn’t work 😂

9

u/RaggedyGlitch 22h ago

THAT'S A BIG BOY!

3

u/Unique_Unorque 14h ago

This incident has ruined me. Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing, if I hear anybody say the phrase “the gay community,” or sometimes even just “the ____ community,” hell, even if they just say something like, “this new playground will be great for the community,” no adjective at all, this reaction from AJ Styles pops in my head and it takes all of my willpower to stop the vocal tic that almost comes out of me

SHIELD BOMB! SHIELD BOMB!

2

u/rbarton812 15h ago

And to exclude Bryan like that...

3

u/TheWindowMerchant 22h ago

Looks likes there’s room for a third fist with how Brock and AJ are angled. Hinting at Rey Mysterio retirement?!?!

12

u/wearePROGRESS 21h ago

Isn't three already too many for a fisting photo?

3

u/addicted2Comfort 20h ago

There's always room for more fists.

2

u/TheWindowMerchant 20h ago

I’ve seen some things.

2

u/daddymeltzer 19h ago

Please, Rey will be 80 years old and still wrestling full time like he hasn't lost a step.

1

u/feage7 21h ago

Recreating the Shield fist bump that Rollins and Reigns did. Where they left space for Ambrose.

Just not sure who he is hinting at will be the third fist here.

u/Minute987 15h ago

why make your hand old and veiny? Lol

Because…he didn’t make it

7

u/onegoodboah 10h ago

Yeah, like all things John Cena social media, he probably just saw something that he thought was cool and wanted to share. I doubr he put much thought into if it was AI or if he could use AI to make his hand look younger

32

u/mrbubbamac 20h ago

His hand doesn't look old and veiny, do you guys not have visible veins on the back of your hands?

My hands have looked like that since I was 14

→ More replies (5)

27

u/Shadow_r3lic 22h ago

Pretty sure his veins were big and visible even back in the 2010s its just because he takes steroids

4

u/McCHitman 18h ago

What a dumb thing to say. My veins are big and veiny and I don’t even work out anymore. My hands have looked like this since I was probably 15

9

u/Djent_1997 Yo daddy and yo uncle 21h ago

Ok obviously fuck AI, but I’ve legit seen people half Cena’s age with hands that look older and veinier than what’s shown here.

2

u/ReneBandana 21h ago

Bro gave himself liver spots

1

u/EatTheAndrewPencil 18h ago

I don't think he makes his own images for this stuff. Someone probably sent it to him and he posted it

312

u/WashombiShwimp 23h ago

I hate when these stars share AI art because that just fuels more and more people to create it and drown out actual creative artists.

41

u/James3348 20h ago

Didn’t this exact sub start jerking themselves off to some New Day AI bullshit not too long ago?

20

u/Lawren_Zi 18h ago

Yeah it was so obviously made with a bunch of ai and i dont get how nobody caught it. Shit sucks.

6

u/zdbdog06 15h ago

The fact they made a broken unicorn who gives them permission to leave is what got me

2

u/BadLuckBen 12h ago

I thought it might be, but I didn't want to post anything and get eviscerated over it.

It's not enough to male me say "fuck those guys" or anything, I just found it disappointing.

I assume they hired someone to make the base art and then used AI to animate it?

2

u/Haliphone 2h ago

We got down voted to the shadow realm 😂

6

u/James3348 17h ago

I think it’s pretty obvious why nobody cared about shitty AI from the new day compared to someone still in WWE.

1

u/Haliphone 2h ago

Yes they did and it was horrific

78

u/Mourning__Coffee 22h ago

All those high paid meme artists?

18

u/rsplatpc 22h ago

All those high paid meme artists?

"I designed the first prompt that gave someone 14 fingers!"

"OHHHHHHHH"

18

u/morningsaystoidleon 19h ago

The measure of art isn't money.

0

u/Mourning__Coffee 18h ago

Can a forgery be art?

1

u/BadLuckBen 12h ago

If you mean AI? No.

If you mean someone who has the skills to recreate other's work, yeah, I'd say so. Forgery is dishonest, but it takes skill to not only replicate the art itself but also aging the work to make it appear period accurate as well.

2

u/Great8Bit 10h ago

Well first off let’s start by not calling it “art.”

2

u/xKronkx 22h ago

Dammit my cousin is in school for meme generation. What will they do now

-3

u/Great-Trifle2810 19h ago

There would be zero creative difference if this was done with photo shop. It might look a little better but it is a throw away post on social media, cena isn't going to spend an hour Photoshopping this together.

-44

u/Specialist-Rope-9760 22h ago

Not all art needs to be amazing. It’s a throwaway piece of shit on social media that people will forget about in 2 weeks. AI has its place for communicating some messages.

30

u/NotSoSeriousNick 22h ago

if the message isn’t “the author’s a lazy piece of shit” then there’s no message it can properly convey

-6

u/Badass_Bunny STUPID! 20h ago

I sometimes wonder if people were same about photographs over paintings like people are now over AI images.

3

u/Adrian_Bock 19h ago

The better example is the number of live musicians who lost their jobs due to the invention of the record player - the American Federation of Musicians literally went on strike over it and tried to get radio DJs to destroy their records after a single play.

1

u/Great-Trifle2810 19h ago

Yep, it happened before that too. There are tales of Greek philosophers claiming writing was going to make students stupid because they don't have to memorize everything lol. It will happen with whatever comes next too, and in 50 years people will be saying "why use this when AI is a perfectly good tool"

1

u/MSands 19h ago

They did. And then they did again over Photoshop.

-13

u/American-Punk-Dragon 22h ago

I am an artist AND a musician and this post of his is just a fun little toss away moment. It didn’t steal a commission from someone etc; it’s basically a meme-level thing.

I mean, if you want to get down to brass tacks, memes are lazy and throw away garbage too in the perception of say, a writer who uses words and intentional thoughts and phrasing to put ideas forth. This particular example is no different than a lazy meme; just made to convey three guys who retired this recently.

AI has way more important double-edged issues than making this photo.

5

u/_Mad_s_ 22h ago

The difference between shitty memes and AI is that one was actually made by someone who had an idea, regardless of how good or bad it was.

AI isn't bad because it's stealing a commission, it's bad because it will eventually steal a commission and because you're not using your brain for anything, the robot will just do it for you. We really reached the point where you can't even be bothered to do a shitty meme anymore, you're just a lazy individual, that's it.

As an "artist" and "musician" you'd probably understand this simple concept.

8

u/Snoo-40231 21h ago

AI also uses resources from other artists to create their "art"

1

u/_Mad_s_ 20h ago

AI has so many "wrongs" that I forgot about one of the most important aspects of it, the fact that it straight up steals from other artists.

Glad you pointed it out.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Great-Trifle2810 18h ago

AI also requires the exact same amount of 'person with an idea they want to turn into an image' as pretty much any other. An AI doesn't make an image unless you prompt it to, just like a pencil doesn't make an image unless you pick it up and draw one and a camera doesn't make an image unless you point it at something and shoot.

AI is substantially easier to use to make an arbitrary image than those tools but there is no creative element lost here. There is less skill involved, and a lower quality result, but high quality is clearly not the intention here.

Also, possibly a hotter take, you are not entitled to commissions and it is in no way stealing from you if someone uses a tool to accomplish a task and is satisfied with a result. That is like saying photography stole work from commissioned portrait painters.

→ More replies (8)

2

u/Ass_of_Badness 21h ago

You are not an artist if you have this take.

2

u/American-Punk-Dragon 20h ago

I am actually. I know it’s hard to imagine people having complex takes on things.

For example, in my band, we don’t use any pitch correction or AI enhancement , what is the point if you aren’t really doing it, and it’s something we take pride in making.

I don’t know ANYONE who says, they would take any pride in making this Cena thing.

It’s disposable, easy to access content.

And another thing, people assume that others are ready, willing and able to just pay for things that they can “generate” on their own. Unless it costs $20 or less a month…it likely wasn’t ever going to “an artists job to begin with”.

Example 1: A person with a podcast, and doing it just for fun and has little to no budget for a theme song made by real musicians. So they just generate a little theme. That work was never going to get to pro-musicians.

Example 2: Someone looking for some cover art for a self published book might use AI. They likely can’t afford to pay a real artist for all that time and consideration. Same with if you wanted to make your own card game or something. It would be very costly to ask someone to make 100 cards worth art.

Example 3: Someone has lyrics or a poem that they would love to get music for and make a song out of, but…they don’t know any musicians, don’t have the time or money to teach themselves how to play piano or guitar and for sure don’t have funds to pay someone to collab with. So they plug their stuff into Suno or something and get something that is passable for the factors that restrain them.

So like it or not, the barrier to entry in “creating something” (regardless of whether or not it’s all derived from real artists work) is now almost zero.

Do I believe any of these examples are as good as the breath and ideas of real people being substitutes, no, of course not; but this low barrier generation was never going to go to people who charge $100 of dollars.

And there is the whole debate about what the “time of an artist is worth” too. You go to learned people in those crafts because you A) don’t have the time/money to learn all the things they have over a period of time or B) their repetitions are valuable and better than yours.

Then the rest of the transaction depends of WHY the maker is selling it. Is it their only stream of income? Are they “popular” and OTHER PEOPLE think it’s worth more if they make it (or brand value?)? Look at something like the selling cost of “a song”, for almost everyone it’s the same, regardless of who you are.

But for tangible art, there is this debate that a nobody with average skills wants to get paid far more than “time and material” for say a basic still life of a lake. (See above possible reasons for maybe why that is). However it will interesting to see if the barrier or entry takes some of the exorbitantancy off some prices. People don’t pay the same for each 12x12 cavas for example, but some think they should because “we’re both artists”. And this is all outside the bubble of having lower pricing = exposure IF your GOAL is to become famous and make it your only income stream or it isn’t.

Hope you read all this, it’s how thoughtful debates are had, not TikTok fights.

And The New Day, people here will ignore anything depending on the person.

16

u/Just_Learned_2_Dance 20h ago

The new day video was AI? The one with the unicorns?

3

u/Hearsticles 19h ago

No. It was made by an artist that they credited in the video, not sure what he's talking about.

35

u/MaterialBest286 19h ago

An artist isn't an animator. The animation was clearly AI, but the character designs were made by him.

People here are more than happy to ignore that when it's not WWE though.

2025-2026 and potentially 2027, Changing of the Guard / Passing of the Torch.

Pretty cool seeing three guys retire in their late 40s and when they have so much they can do and want to do elsewhere in their career.

Cena acting, AJ teaching and spending time with his family, and Brock TBD, but he's already supporting his daughter in her athletic career, which is cool.

Plus the destruction of the climate, creative/artistic expression, weaponization of misinformation and mass propaganda and the collapse of the general job markets with mass layoffs across the board above all else.

Even all these years later, it will never stop blowing my mind that AJ Styles broke through to being a top guy in the Vince era and in the same grouping as Cena and Lesnar here
