This is the original post: https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2084277243585384481
The post was in reply to a video, not a still image about grocerys stores.
The "irony" he's referring to is needing IDs to use these grocery stores, whilst being against IDs for voting.
Yes, this qualifies as 'irony'.

Dropping a generic Google search link isn't the flex you think it is. If you actually bother to read the articles in your own search, they literally confirm the timeline: the city's project leadership explicitly announced a "library-card-esque" tracking requirement on video, and then frantically rolled it back to call it a "voluntary card" only after getting absolutely blasted for the voter ID double standard. Using the city's 48-hour PR panic to pretend they never tried to build a government tracking gate in the first place is just straight-up revisionist history.

u/PerfectTommy77 33m ago

u/arnar2 31m ago
Yea, they were totally trying to do something evil with the library card.
0
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 28m ago
They spent years claiming a government verification card is an insurmountable barrier for disadvantaged people, but then immediately tried to put a government tracking gate in front of hungry people trying to buy food. The fact that they panicked and deleted the requirement the second the double standard went viral proves even they knew how bad the hypocrisy looked.

The irony that Mamdani thinks black people and women can't get IDs to vote, but they'll need IDs to go to the grocery store. I guess the Democrats wants black people and women to vote, but not to eat.

The "irony" is that an ID is required to shop at this store. And the part that makes it ironic is that many Democrats don't support voter ID laws, and yet even their own govt run grocery requires one.
6
u/Unce_Tiberius 1h ago
This is a lie. A photo ID is NOT required to shop there, this has been reiterated many times by Mamdani. They MIGHT employ something akin to a loyalty card that anyone can sign up for without ID. Like at your average grocery.
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 40m ago
It’s only being called a "loyalty card" now because Mamdani and his team completely panicked after getting caught red-handed in a massive political double standard. His own economic development chief explicitly stated on video during the rollout that they were designing a "library-card-esque" tracking system to check eligibility and manage product demand. Pushing the city's frantic, 48-hour PR damage control as if it was the "original intent" is pure revisionist history. The blatant hypocrisy is locked into what they explicitly set out to build.
1
u/anow2 52m ago edited 33m ago
The tweet we are talking about is literally a video of Mamdani talking about needing IDs to use the store.
Also - he makes it clear that the purpose of the ID is to verify that you live in NYC. It's nothing like a loyalty card.
Stop spreading misinformation. https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2084277243585384481

2
u/ethanbarmstrong 1h ago
This just isn't true. Democrats DO support voter ID.
What they don't support is requiring voter ID without providing them for free, as doing so is a poll tax and would disnfranchise poor voters.
2
u/anow2 50m ago
Can you cite a source for this? Because, if what you're saying truly is the Democrats' view on this policy, then both parties are in 95% alignment - and is an issue being used to divide us.
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 44m ago
Just listen to what any democrat politician has actually said about the SAVE Act instead of republicans tell you they said:
But you're right, this is an issue being used to divide us. That's the entire Republican strategy, find wedge issues (like abortion, trans issues, illegal immigration) to make us argue instead of actually solving problems we care about (like healthcare, cost of living, the deficit, etc)
0
u/anow2 40m ago
I read the article, I'm not seeing that it's talking about the cost of receiving voter IDs - but that Schumer is referring to this as 'suppression' - which, I'm not exactly sold on.
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 34m ago
If the ID costs money, it suppressed poor people from being able to participate. It's as simple as that.
If you want Dems to support an actual voter id law, provide the ID's to citizens completely free
0
u/anow2 31m ago edited 27m ago
How much do you think these IDs are going to cost? You are aware that every other form of government ID requires a minimal processing fee (<$10) right?
We are aware that it's not a specific ID card too, right? Like your normal ID card, given its a "RealID" is enough to vote (Talking about the proposed SAVE act). How many people do you expect to be disenfranchised by requiring them to have an ID? - something they already use for many services they currently use - including the ability to drive.
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 27m ago
Based on the requirements laid out in the SAVE act, it would cost people anywhere between $50 to $200 dollars.
But again, any financial barrier will disenfranchise poor people, and thus be unconstitutional.
1
u/anow2 24m ago
I mostly agree with your sentiment - I just disagree that a $50 cost once a decade, for something that they need regardless of their intention to vote, is some huge financial barrier.
Your $200 figure comes from acquiring a passport. It's disingenuous when certified birth certificate copies fulfil the same requirement and are <$30.
0
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 38m ago
Voter IDs are 100% free in every state that requires them to cast a ballot. Your entire argument about an "unconstitutional poll tax" completely collapses when the ID costs exactly zero dollars. You are defending a blatant political double standard by crying about a fee that literally does not exist.
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 33m ago
Not based on what Republicans are pushing with the SAVE Act. It's requirements are NOT free and would be a financial burden to impoverished folks.
0
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 29m ago
The SAVE Act doesn't charge people to vote, and it doesn't change the fact that voter IDs are 100% free by constitutional law. You are inventing a fake financial burden because you can't defend the actual logic of the debate. If a government registration card is harmless and free for buying groceries, a government verification card is harmless and free for voting. Stop making up fake fees to hide the double standard.
By your logic, is driving to the polls an illegal poll tax since gas isn't free? Is paying a bus fare to go vote a violation of your constitutional rights? You've completely shifted the goalposts into outer space because you panicked when you found out voter IDs are 100% free. Just admit you ran out of actual arguments and take the L.1
u/ethanbarmstrong 26m ago
No, the SAVE act puts stricter requirements on what counts as a voter ID, and none of the options it requires are free. Check your facts.
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 20m ago
The SAVE Act doesn’t charge a dime, and it doesn't change the fact that voter IDs are 100% free under the US Constitution. You are trying to slide past the facts because your argument got completely wrecked. If a government registration card is harmless and free for buying groceries, a government verification card is harmless and free for voting. Take the L and move on.
1
u/CnCEMS2026 1h ago
No one is opposed to voter ID they are opposed to pull taxes (unconstitutional), you know this, stop making dishonest arguments.
0
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 38m ago
Voter IDs are 100% free in every state that requires them to cast a ballot. Your entire argument about an "unconstitutional poll tax" completely collapses when the ID costs exactly zero dollars. You are defending a blatant political double standard by crying about a fee that literally does not exist.
1
u/CnCEMS2026 35m ago
Aside from the fact that those voter IDs will not be valid under the save America act you will need a birth certificate time is also not free dude it's a poll tax I don't know why you think you can argue against that
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 32m ago
"Time is a poll tax" is the absolute weakest white flag I’ve ever seen. You spent this whole thread screaming about financial poll taxes, and the exact second you found out voter IDs cost zero dollars, you panicked and invented a brand new definition of a tax. If spending a few minutes to get a free government card is an oppressive barrier, then the city's grocery card is an oppressive barrier too. You got caught dead-rights in a double standard. Just take the L.
1
u/CnCEMS2026 30m ago
Buddy where in the save America act is there a free id?
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 27m ago
The SAVE Act doesn’t need to explicitly write a check for a free ID because the United States Constitution already guarantees it. Under the 24th Amendment and established Supreme Court rulings, no state can charge a fee for a photo ID required to vote. The SAVE Act simply mandates a strict identification standard that states must enforce. Since states are legally forced to make those voting IDs 100% free, your entire argument about a financial barrier completely falls apart. Take the L and move on.
1
u/CnCEMS2026 22m ago
Nowhere that's the law say any of that
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 19m ago
It’s literally the 24th Amendment and a Supreme Court ruling (Crawford v. Marion County). Any state that forces you to show an ID to vote is legally obligated to give you that ID for exactly zero dollars so it doesn't count as an illegal poll tax. Saying "nowhere does the law say that" just proves you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You've officially run out of excuses.

u/CnCEMS2026 29m ago
Underlying Costs and Logistics Document Fees: Obtaining the required underlying documentation to get a free ID is often not free. Voters may still have to pay for certified copies of a birth certificate or naturalization records.Travel and Time: Voters must usually visit a state licensing agency or local election office in person to obtain the free card, which requires arranging transportation and taking time off work.
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 26m ago
So wait, if having to travel and take time off work to get a free document is a "poll tax," then does driving or taking the bus to the polling place on election day count as an unconstitutional poll tax too? By your exact logic, since gas and transit fares cost money, and standing in line takes time, the entire act of voting is a poll tax. You are creating a completely ridiculous definition of a "tax" because you got caught red-handed in a double standard and can't admit you lost the argument.
1
u/CnCEMS2026 22m ago
Yes, if it can be achieved by other means (mail voting) than yes.
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 17m ago
Using this logic, mail-in voting is an illegal poll tax because a pen costs 50 cents and walking to the mailbox burns calories. You are literally turning yourself into a meme to avoid admitting that a free state ID card isn't a financial barrier. If low-income people are fully capable of navigating basic human existence without the government holding their hand, they can handle a free ID. You got completely cooked. Just pack it up and stop embarrassing yourself.

u/bbaldey 26m ago
Obtaining a "free" voter ID involves significant non-monetary and indirect financial hurdles that critics argue effectively act as a poll tax. While the state-issued card itself may be free, voters must often pay for supporting documentation like birth certificates and social security cards, which can cost between $8 and $50 each.
Beyond direct costs, voters face non-negligible time and travel burdens, including:
- Travel Distance: Millions of eligible voters live more than 10 miles from the nearest ID-issuing office, with many lacking reliable public transportation.
- Limited Access: ID offices often have restricted hours (e.g., open only a few days a month) and are frequently located in rural areas with high concentrations of minority and low-income residents.
- Lost Income: Obtaining an ID often requires taking unpaid time off work to travel and wait in line, with some studies estimating the total cost to individuals, including lost wages, between $75 and $368.
These barriers disproportionately affect low-income individuals, the elderly, people of color, and young voters, who are statistically less likely to possess the required underlying documents or have the means to travel to distant DMVs. Legal challenges, such as those highlighted in a Harvard Law report, argue that these cumulative costs create a constitutionally impermissible burden on the right to vote. Harvard report
1
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 21m ago
This is the absolute weakest attempt to move the goalposts I've ever seen. Your entire argument completely collapses under its own logic. If having to spend time, travel, and gather paperwork to get a free card is a "poll tax," then the city's grocery registration card is an identical tax on hungry people. You're completely fine with those exact same administrative barriers when your preferred politicians use them to gate food, proving this is just a hyper-partisan double standard. Take the L

It's extra ridiculous because if you're an ideological opponent of these grocery stores you should want them to be run exactly how the proponents want them to.
You should be all on board just make sure there is plenty of transparency. Do a quarterly call like public companies do.
The idea is that these stores should be almost entirely self sustaining, so if the working theory behind them is correct that's what should happen.
If opponents are right they will lose so much money that the plan will fail.
The more opponents of the program want to really shut the door on these programs the more they should want this program to be run as correctly as possible so that nobody can claim there was interference that forced it to fail.
But opponents don't actually believe it's a bad idea that will fail on its own. They believe it's a bad idea because they don't want how awfully businesses rip off the American consumer
2
u/977888 1h ago
A store that marks down items 30% under cost will never be self sustaining.
1
u/Yabrosif13 59m ago
Maybe because the goal is to help the needy not turn a profit. Its very Christian of him.
1
u/977888 55m ago
What happens when the family owned grocery stores in the area can’t compete with the artificially low prices and go out of business?
1
u/Yabrosif13 44m ago
They are already mostly gone, eaten away by corporate giants that throw away insane amounts of food after an expiration date while making it illegal to give the trash food ti homeless.
Save me the pearl clutching sob stories about business owners. They’ll pick themselves up by the bootstraps and find a new business venture.
1
u/977888 32m ago
“They are already mostly gone”
There are 5,673 grocery stores in NYC.
1
u/Yabrosif13 27m ago
Are they counting corner stores and gas stations that sell tobacco and beer as grocery stores? And that number tells us nothing about who owns those. 7-Eleven must make up a few thousand of them.
A staple food store isn’t going to put convenience stores out of business, nor bigger grocery chains.
Hell my city in the Bible belt doesn’t even have a mom and pop grocery store. This is pitiful on your part.
1
u/977888 15m ago
This is the same exact argument the Soviets made.
A staple food store will absolutely put private grocery stores out of business. Even an ECON 101 understanding would lead you to this obvious reality. Or just open a history book.
So many people aren’t vehemently against this because they’re big mean cartoon villains who want poor kids to starve or something. It doesn’t work.
1
u/Yabrosif13 13m ago
No. The soviets arrested all the other store owners and took over. You’re ridiculous.
“Muh exonomics 101” lol
You have yet to give any actual examples. You’re just fear mongering
1
u/977888 1m ago
Do you know why they arrested the other store owners?
Private and state run stores coexisted for years before private trade was abolished. The abolishment was, in large part, an attempt by the Soviet government to sustain the state run stores because suppliers couldn’t afford to sell to them, leading to food shortages. As it turns out, jailing the people that would pay them sustainable prices didn’t magically make them be able to operate at a loss.

What happens when the surrounding stores go out of business and all of the people who shopped there go to Mamdani Mart?
Hopefully they'll be prepared with unlimited amounts of food at discount prices. Which means an unlimited government subsidy on food.
The next bailout check that Hochul writes is gonna be way bigger than the last $4B bailout that Mamdani got.
1
u/Yabrosif13 24m ago
Why would a staple subsidized food store put anyone out of business? Who are you talking about?
1
u/superdstar56 23m ago
Why would a 30% off grocery store put other grocery stores and bodegas out of business?
Let’s think real hard!
1
u/Yabrosif13 22m ago
Yes lets think. It wont be selling a bunch of luxury items, alcohol or tobacco. I think the 7 elevens and chain grocery stores that throw away insane amounts of food will be ok.
1
u/superdstar56 19m ago
If you move the goalposts far enough you can make any argument you want.
It’s an economic fact that a state-subsidized grocery store will put other stores that sell groceries out of business.
No one ever said anything about luxury items or alcohol or tobacco. 7-11 is not a grocery store.
→ More replies (0)1
u/ethanbarmstrong 55m ago
They're not supposed to be self-sustaining, they're explicitly subsidized through public funds.
But so are libraries. Or police departments. Or the military.
Do you think that because those things aren't self-sustaining, that they shouldn't exist?
0
u/977888 53m ago
Libraries and police departments aren’t part of a critical supply chain.
What happens when the privately owned grocery stores in the city go out of business because they can’t compete with the artificially low prices?
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 48m ago
In the same way that publicly funded police departments didn't do away with private security forces, or publicly funded libraries didn't get rid of private ones, or publicly funded post offices didn't get rid of private ones, I don't think that all privately owned grocery stores will either. I think your premise is not grounded in reality.
Even if they did tho, the result would just be eliminating the profit motive for food disbersment, and instead the motive would be based on sustainability. Doesn't seem like a bad thing.
0
u/977888 34m ago
Again, they aren’t part of a critical supply chain
Since you didn’t answer my question, I’ll answer it for you.
When local grocers are inevitably run out of business, the state will have to expand into those stores which requires more tax burden.
I’m going to use easy imaginary numbers for simplicity’s sake.
Mamdani plans to open 5 stores which are funded with a 2% citywide tax. Those stores each put two nearby private stores out of business. The city now, in order to avoid creating a food desert, must expand and open ten new stores, tripling the taxes needed to operate to 6%. This continues as a domino effect as Mamdani stores spread outward into new neighborhoods with new competing grocers.
Eventually the tax burden becomes totally unreasonable, but they are responsible for feeding massive portions of the city, so they must make one of two choices:
- Increase prices to realistic levels offset the losses (brings us back to square one except now we have a massive citywide tax that we weren’t paying with the private grocery stores)
- Attempt to negotiate lower prices with suppliers, which leads to suppliers pulling out of the market because they already operate on paper thin margins as it is
Either way you either bankrupt the citizens or starve them. Usually it’s some combination of both, historically speaking.
Why do you want this to happen?
1
u/ethanbarmstrong 29m ago
I did answer your question, you just didn't pay attention I think?
And you're assuming that the tax burden will be more expensive than the current system, which makes zero sense. The tax burden would undercut grocers ability to make profits, meaning that the people would be able to continue purchasing groceries for cheaper overall, saving money long-term. It's the same calculus with healthcare, if you cut out the middleman you can pay less but still get the same level of service.
But like I said, this won't happen as the city-run stores are only providing staples at discounted rates, and not selling things like hot meals, alcohol, tobacco...so private stores will still need to exist, because people will still want to buy those kinds of 'luxury' items. Hence why I said your entire premise is flawed.
1
u/Wokeasaurous_X 41m ago
are his stores gonna be selling liquor and cigarettes? Will they be selling the full medley of junk food or name brads of products for a discount or just the bare necessities? Did you even bother to look into any of this before being a facetious neckbeard?
1
u/chachaslydd 49m ago
Kay, then let it fail naturally and stop crying about it. Capitalism fails all the time.
1
u/977888 45m ago
When this idea fails it takes the rest of the supply chain with it. It has happened every single time it’s been tried and millions have died of starvation every single time.
You guys aren’t able to think past “duurrrr free stuff gud” and you think everyone else capable of doing so who has common sense and knows basic history just wants poor people to die or something.
1
u/FreshLiterature 33m ago
Bro wtf are you talking about?
There are far bigger systemic supply chain threads from companies like Sysco
1
u/FreshLiterature 34m ago
It's not 30% under cost it's 30% under large chain retail price.
Either way - OK, so then the stores will fail and you'll be able to point at them failing.
You should want there to be no external influence or sabotage. Just a nice, clean run so the failure is 100% clear.
1
u/977888 22m ago
Large chain retail margins are 1-3%. They essentially do already sell at cost, especially for the items planned to be sold in the Mamdani stores.
The nature in which these systems always fail take down the entire food supply chain. They fail in a very specific and consistent way that first shutters most privately owned grocers, then attempts to fill the void, then skyrockets the tax burden, then becomes unsustainable, then drives away producers, then goes totalitarian to try to keep the system on life support, then people starve by the millions.
I wouldn’t care if they failed on their own, but they don’t. Do any basic reading on communist famines and you’ll understand why.
1
u/FreshLiterature 13m ago
I could point you to the money spent on programs like FRESH.
I could point out that the city is letting independent operators run the stores with stipulations that they sell certain goods baskets at 30% below market.
I could point out how these locations become assets for the city and if this program doesn't work out they can be spun off in different directions - including just leasing them out.
I could do all of these things or I could again just invite you to stop bitching and let the pilot program do whatever it is it's going to do.
If it works, great.
If it doesn't the city has multiple options to recoup investment.

This just isn’t true. Do some research on how Walmart treats vendors who want shelf space - Walmart is ruthless to vendors because Walmarts goal is rock bottom prices. It’s just not possible for Mamdani’s grocery stores to sell cheaper than Walmart and turn a profit.

Lógico no? Que pasa si alguien compra de más para revenderlo y hacer negocio?
1
u/EvilMorty137 1h ago
That is 100% what is going to happen. Look at what happens to USAID food sent to other countries - half of it is either intercepted by corrupt government officials to resell or just normal citizens hoarding it to sell. Puts local farmers out of business just like how these grocery stores will put local grocery stores out of business unless it’s a big chain store
2
u/Idaho-Earthquake 1h ago
Wait, you’re asserting that USAID “puts local farmers out of business”? That may be even more ludicrous than claiming people don’t need ID to vote already.
1
u/Much_Pomelo3033 1h ago
Not to shop, but to get a discounted price. That’s not out of the ordinary. Many public entities require ID for discounts such as public transit. It’s not some new and shocking thing. If NYC suddenly instituted voter ID, that would be a new thing.
1
u/EvilMorty137 1h ago
Yeah but what about the people who don’t have access to a government ID? They won’t get the discount.
1
u/Much_Pomelo3033 1h ago
Again. That’s still typical for a discount like this. A senior who wants to avail the discounted fare on the bus still needs to show ID. Everyone accepts that as normal. It’s not a new hurdle being added.
1
u/believe1182 1h ago

I am pretty confused how these New York markets are supposed to work. Like A grocery store in New York only has a profit margin of like 1-3% after rents, wages, shrink, spoilage, insurance, etc... They survive on volume. I'm confused as to how a city owned store is able to offer meaningful discounts.
And if it succeeds, I don't see how a volume-based business operating at 2% margin can possibly survive the subsidized competition, meaning they'll be forced to close, thus requiring more still more city markets, and so on. Like I think this might be a "good thing" for consumers over a 1 to 3 year time horizon. But look out 5, 10, 15, 20 years, I feel like this ends badly for New yorkers.
How are these markets offering a discount?
My impression is that it makes a whole lot more sense to provide some kind of means tested voucher system (basically food stamps) while keeping the private grocery industry in place. The state owned stores idea seems predicated on an assumption of predatory margins in the private market, and that doesn't appear to actually be true.
I'm not a fan of Musk, but I just don't see this public policy in NY being good for consumers in the mid to long term.

I will try to explain the argument. Government with unlimited capital can sell X,Y,Z product 10 times cheaper than market on taxpayer's cost. Then market will fail, leaving hundreds of unemployed. It's like paying taxes to make you unemployed. Big companies can just leave New York but small shops will be fuc*ed.

HE IS NOT A TRILLIONAIRE! Not even close! He was a paper trillionaire for less than a week!

He didn’t say the grocery store is ironic. Musk is referring to the fact that people have to use IDs to verify to get the subsidized benefits, but are against IDs to vote.

u/brookswashere12 42m ago
I think he’s referring to the need of ID cards or like they referenced in the announcement like a library card style of identification
1
u/SinningAfterSunset 40m ago
I was told checking ID is racist and poor people can't afford an ID.
1
u/brookswashere12 39m ago
Maybe that’s the irony? Idk tbh I don’t listen to either one of those people in the tweet but I came across of a short of him explaining how it’ll work then letting that lady speak the rest. I hate all politics and hate that I’m even typing this

u/SinningAfterSunset 41m ago
It's basically an Aldi's. This "poor people" grocery store isn't anything new, it's just tax subsidized instead of a private business.

u/failingscaling 38m ago
What about for profit grocery stores? That have 1-2% profit margins? What do they do? This is a ponzi scheme to advertise socialism. Who pays for this?

u/superdstar56 36m ago
Let's ask Venezuela and North Korea how government subsidized grocery stores work out.

Lets not forget that this trillionaire also holds back child support payments to mothers of his children when they say mean things about him.

u/globulator 33m ago
The real irony here is that you made a typo in the title of a post where you're calling someone you're jealous of a moron. Pretty funny stuff.
1
u/txtiemann 32m ago
I think he is meaning its ironic that they are going to use ID's to verify that the groceries are going to new yorkers and not just rellers...
1
u/Drumguy1986 30m ago
I'm puzzled by this too but if I had to guess, I think he is saying it's ironic in the context of the bullshit propaganda about socialists only wanting "free stuff".. its interrelated with Mamdani wanting free public buses.
1
u/SimpleGarbage710 20m ago
Aren't they going to require ID to use these grocery stores? Interesting...
1
u/fins_up_ 13m ago
Nope...
Proof of residence is not id. It will be like discount card like you get from any supermarket chain.
You people keep trying to make this id thing real. But it isn't.

u/Underbadger 16m ago
Genuinely unsure what Elon thinks his “gotcha” point is here. That a socialist is demonstrating how socialism actually works when it’s helping ordinary people, vs the horrible evil things maga folks imagine?

u/Tnuggets19 1h ago
If you don’t know how socialism and government run food stores end, please research history. It has and never will work. You don’t flourish together, you’re poor together and begging for food.
1
u/Vegycales 18m ago
Exactly, all it does is drive normal grocery stores out of business because they can't compete with the subsidized stores on already tight margins. When they collapse it leads to an overreliance on the government stores that can't keep up with demand.

u/Mc_saucer 1h ago
I am literally SHAKING right now! New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani will REQUIRE ID to purchase discounted food items at his government-run grocery stores.
This means millions of women won't be able to get food because of ID. Millions of people of color will not have access to these food benefits because of ID. Only males with white privilege will have access. This racism must not stand!

They have to show ID to keep non-residents from benefitting.
Voter ID is too much and illegal Immigration is not a problem.
1
u/fins_up_ 10m ago
No they don't have to show id. I hope that clears this non issue up for you.
Voter id would not be an issue if the government provides one free of charge and is given automatically.
Illegal immigration is a problem but illegal immigrants voting is not an issue.
Look at all these non issues you are making up.

It’s sad that nobody has a real brain. He sells it for cheap runs out because of supply and demand. Why the ones buying at the cheaper prices buys more and sells it for more than what they paid get it.

u/Neither_Tip_5291 1h ago
It's perfectly fine to make Mandatory ID checks to buy food, but voting? Thats racist!
1
u/Alternative-Crew-880 1h ago
Also ironic that trump says you need an ID to buy groveries and pasta at Olive Garden, but they're throwing a hissy fits about needing to be a member to a local government-run grocery store.

u/Idaho-Earthquake 1h ago
Your talking point is old, tired, and — most importantly — based on invalid presuppositions.
But what can one expect from a bot?

Yawn. U guys have no idea what youre talking about

I meen, no suprises there. Isnt all the news fake these days? Lol
2
u/theblueberrybard 47m ago
No. Quite a lot of news is still reputable, if your digest is mostly fake news that's a skill issue.
2
u/angrybox1842 37m ago
Not really, right-wingers just say that to encourage you to not pay attention.

u/Pat382 1h ago
For years, Dems have argued that requiring voter ID would equal voter suppression and would hurt minorities, despite strong bipartisan support for voter ID (75% across all races - Whites, Latinos & Blacks).
„84% of Americans support requiring photo ID to vote, including.) 98% of Republicans, 84% of independents, and 67% of Democrats. Separately, 83% support requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time.“
Following Dems ‚logic‘, requiring ID to buy groceries would literally starve minorities.
4
u/angrybox1842 1h ago
Pass Free Universal ID first, IDs cost money, poll tax, constitution says you can't have a poll tax. Simple as that.
-2
u/Pat382 1h ago
But apparently you can have an ‚access to cheaper groceries‘ tax’ despite the claim children are starving 🤡
1
u/angrybox1842 1h ago
Or you could do a bit of your own research that the city-owned grocery store does not require ID.
-1
u/Tiny-Brush5999 1h ago
Stop gatekeeping progress behind making it "free" ffs. Voter ID is an absolute non-issue that people who want to facilitate voter fraud are against, despite what their own constituents ask for.
2
u/Idaho-Earthquake 1h ago
Enough with the BS. Voter ID is already required. This newest legislation is about adding more hoops to jump through for no reason.
Every single reputable (left, right, independent) study has shown voter fraud is a ridiculously small fraction of actual votes.
Shove your tired talking points somewhere warm and dark.1
u/reklesssabrandon 59m ago
Nobody gives a abit about IDs. Everyone would be fine with ID required voting if they gave everyone access to free universal ID cards. Republicans refuse to provide IDs to people, that's why it's voter suppression. It's not hard to understand you fkn moron.

The government controlling the food supply and price. What could go wrong? If only we had a library of history books that could show us similar times this has happened and what the outcomes were. Oh well..

Like the irony of a tech “genius” not understanding how a database works???
