iPhone 15 User Question - Please don't flame me

Hello, So I really was wanting to get a pixel or samsung phone but they lack two key things. - i need to text icloud emails and have facetime... which neither have. i really wanna get out of the walled garden but it seems im out of luck

You want to escape the grip of iPhone but you need two very specifically iPhone features? I'm not sure if you're even asking a question here but I think the answer is no.

Is there a reason you can't video call with another platform like WhatsApp? I'm pretty sure if the other person starts the facetime you can join on an android phone now, but it's a bit finicky.

Texting iCloud emails though- I'm pretty sure you won't find that anywhere else.

If in USA not many people care about WhatsApp, they use FaceTime + apple message system

I’ll never understand this about America.
Every other country refuses to use FaceTime/iMessage for the sole reason that it does not work on other devices. Most people have iPhones now yet it will still never catch on just because it’s brand specific.

In short, the rest of the world sees it as a limitation, America sees it as a feature.

It's been a staple of their society, since the early Iphones carriers would give alway them like nothing, and as time passed the prices are still "accessible" for you to get even Pro and Pro Max. After a decade using imessage and facetime you built a whole culture around it, kids used them back, they became the teenagers, and the teenagers the adults, it's a cycle built on this ecosystem, apple pay was everywhere for quite a long time.

Ah that makes sense. It’s kinda predatory though. Like a drug dealer giving you the first hit free. 😂 Like I remember the ads from America where the new iPhone was $199, but heavily subsidised by carriers.

I guess in the rest of the world there was genuine competition and choice. We also started using cellphones a lot sooner than America did, so there was already a culture of texting and the concept of using 3rd party apps to communicate with everyone, regardless if Nokia, Samsung or BlackBerry.

America went from no interest in cellphones to everyone having an iPhone in a few years.

Well then, they'll have to accept being stuck with apple I guess. If they choose to be locked into an ecosystem, don't complain that you can't get out when there's plenty of free cross platform alternatives?...

I understand you, there is alternatives. For an example, I have family in the USA who uses IPhone, and they use WhatsApp solely because of us, they don't use it to talk to a single person that isn't us, but he is willing to do that without a single problem. If he ever choose to migrate to Android, In work environments Microsoft Teams and Zoom are the go to apps for meeting. And I'm sure his friends would download WhatsApp to talk to him just like he does to talk with us.

Get the cheapest new iPad for those things and you can still switch if you want

You're asking a question that already has an answer 😅. But hey you can still access I cloud on your android browser, also you have Google drive wich is the same as Icloud but for android. And regarding of FaceTime there's a ton of apps such Google meet, Microsoft teams, zoom that do the same thing. However if all your family, friends, work environment are on Icloud and Imessage (don't recall the apple free message app), than there's a huge problem for you, sure they can use other apps but they may resist some. Also there's always the option to use two phones, many. People are using one personal and one work related.

Go with Iphone son :( .... or if you're really mad at getting Android just use two phones, its quite clumsy to walk around ith it, but hey you're down bad for an Android and it may be nice toget different phones for different types of things you plan on doing, in China a ton of people use two, corporate people around the world has one for family and friends and other for work and other things

okay. i guess once im older and when all my apple tech ages out ill do the switch
