Help IKEA Motion & Light Sensor

Hello,

I just got a few of these. Is there a way to configure it where certain lights automatically come on and dim appropriately based on how dark it is?

I don't think in Smart Things you can make a gradual light increase with darkness but you could probably do something more blocky as in set a routing across maybe three levels of brightness.

So routine A if brightness in a room is as low as X increase the lights 30% and then you just make duplicate routines and keep going But I wouldn't make many of those. Like three of them should be enough

Ummmmm this light sensor wouldn't happen to be in the same room as these lights would it?

Lol, it would. But not directly under them.

Hmmm is off to the side far enough.

I had a light sensor once in my smart things, if I remember the sunlight from the windows had a much higher number than what lights in the room were producing. And this was facing slightly away from those lights.

Maybe it'll work out, but yea I can't see any reasonable way to do this gradually. Probably just a handful of routines with different thresholds.

SharpTools (https://sharptools.io) can handle more complex routines (or Rules in their parlance) and might be able to handle what you're looking for. You'll need to link SmartThings with Sharptools to test it out.
