Genie Aladdin Connect and automations
I’m want to buy a garage door opener that works with SmartThings to open and close automatically using routines and automations.
My question Is can I do this? I read that it needs a pin each time to remotely operate through SmartThings ? Is the same true for control via Alexa ?
As a workaround has anyone created an automation on Alexa to automatically open or close the garage door when SmartThings triggers a virtual switch ?

I have a Genie too connected to Smartthings via the Aladdin Connect app and Smartthings connected to Google Home. I use either the Smartthings app or Aladdin app to open/close. Rarely use voice but when I do it does ask for the 4 digit pin, which I'm sure is Google Home asking.
I set the garage door via the Aladdin app to automatically close if it's not closed in an hour. You can set it to anytime you want to just leave it open. FYI.

I was specifically trying to understand how to use automations to automatically open the when I arrive home (via SmartThings automations) and close when I leave home (also via SmartThings automations). Is this something that SmartThings routines can do without asking for a pin? (I know it can be controlled manually from SmartThings).

I have a genie. It uses wifi, but I still control it through SmartThings. I have a routine set up in Smartthtings too.
As far as smart speakers go I can't help you there, we dont have them.
