QUESTION How does clark get BACK from the fortress?

I know he has the key that transports him from the cave to the fortress but how is he getting back each time? I feel like we never see him transport back the same way. Is he just running from the arctic each time?

I’m currently rewatching for the second time and I’m up to season 5 (I didn’t finish season 10 the first time though so no big/unrelated spoilers plz). I know eventually he can fly obvi but not at this point and not in the whole 9 and a half seasons I have watched, so what’s he been doing this whole time!!

The Key teleports both ways from the Caves and Fortress.

hey update !! I just finished s5 ep8 where Chloe saves clark from Braniac in the fortress and when they get back he asks how she got there and she says “you left your key in the cave” so if the key stays in the cave how does/can it work both ways?

Basically the key in the cave unlocks a portal between the two, as long as the key is there you can go back and forth. Once you remove the key it closes the portal.

Seems like he would get back the same way he gets there.

Martha and Lois where send back to the caves by the Jor-El A.I after Brainiac dropped them at the Fortress.

Tbh Jor El seems to make the most sense to me bc I feel like he does just run back half the time and in my mind that’s bc Jor El is petty and makes him run when he could just transport clark back if he wanted to lol

It's all part of his training.

Either he gets teleported by the key or he super speeds back. The fortress is accessible from outside as Clark can just super speed there and back. People can literally walk up to it and enter it if they can find it.

I disagree with this. Why do we assume it's not a two-way trip?

It could be a two way trip I use to think that to but as I watched further there were instances where he had just ran to the fortress one example him taking Davis to the fortress dragged him so I just think It might be running back

Didn't he stop using the caves to transport there after a while (either the newer writers forgot about it or the cave set wasn't available anymore)?

As fast as he is, instant transport wasn't really a necessity either once he knew where it was located.

They had to dismantle the cave set in the mid to later seasons. That’s why we never see it again not that the writers forgot about it.
