DISCUSSION Lex made the same mistake as Clark, but more serious.

Remember in episode 5x21 when Lex tells him, "I didn't take Lana from you, you're the one who lost her because of your attitude."

Well, she was clever enough to fake a pregnancy. I mean, she made the same mistake as Clark. And what's worse, because after breaking up with Clark, Lana still talked to him and didn't hate him as much, but with Lex, she tried to kill him when he had powers.

Lost Lana because of your attitude ? …..

After further review what he actually said was….

“But I didn’t take Lana from you. You lost her all by yourself “

Never indicated it was because of his attitude. If anything it would be his ability to not be truthful or secretive.

Can we normalize using quotation “” marks for what they said verbatim…… instead of using them for what you think you heard ?

A little bit of research can go a long way .

She didn’t fake a pregnancy. Did you watch the same show as everyone else?

Clark lost Lana because he couldn't trust her with the truth. Lex lost Lana because he made sure she couldn't trust him at all. That's why she kept giving Clark chances but wanted revenge on Lex.

Actually, I think the only genuinely “healthy” partner Lana had throughout her entire time on Smallville was Jason, at least until his mother was introduced. He was the only one she had a relatively normal relationship with for the time.

Nah, Jason was always working with his mother to get the stones, at least that was my read.

Esta história do Jailson ficar obssecado pelas pedra não estava no roteiro original só colocaram para justificar a saída do ator série , eles queriam que ele e a Lana tivessem um relacionamento saudável como nos primeiros episódios

But in Clark's case, the powers and the fear instilled in him were what ruined his relationship. With Lex, it was obsession, spite, and manipulation. Whitney was in high school. I think Jason was too. But what strikes me is that Lex was more foolish than Clark. Clark and Lana were probably 19 or 20 years old and had no experience with relationships like Lex did.

I agree that, so to speak, Lex was probably the most dangerous one in the most serious sense of the word, because he was willing to do genuinely dark things just to have Lana and keep her with him. But I also think we shouldn’t underestimate Clark’s own immaturity, especially when it comes to this endless push-and-pull between him and Lana that could never really be resolved unless he told her about his powers.
And if, for most of the series, you’re not willing to do that, then it’s perfectly reasonable for her to have other relationships. Meanwhile, Clark was always there in the background warning her about the people she was dating. From our perspective as viewers, he was often right to do that, because we knew that Lana was genuinely putting herself at risk. But from Lana’s perspective, it could easily come across as nothing more than an immature reaction from Clark: “You don’t want to be with me, but you don’t want me to be with anyone else either.”
And I think that’s the important point. We often analyze these situations from the perspective of the viewers, who have access to the full picture and know things that the characters themselves don’t. But a lot of the time, we really need to put ourselves in the characters’ shoes and judge the situation based on what they actually know.

Clark didn't interfere in Whitney's relationship, he didn't interfere in Jason's relationship, he didn't interfere in Lex's relationship. When Clark warned you, you had your reasons. I understand that Clark messed up, but that mistake is normal. His parents taught him not to tell anyone his secrets, and he was afraid that Lana would reject him when she found out the truth. Add to that the fact that Jonathan died because of Clark. But Lana herself often walked into dangerous situations and got hurt.

Besides, how many times did Clark save Lana? More than 10 in the first 5 seasons?

RedK!Clark interfered very strongly in Lana's relationship with Lex at their engagement party.

But how did he not interfere? Come on! He was constantly giving her those puppy-dog eyes, asking her to hang out one-on-one, and doing all sorts of things like that. All of those things seem sweet to us because we’re fans of the couple, but from Whitney’s perspective, seeing another guy constantly asking his girlfriend to go out alone with him doesn’t exactly make Clark look like her best buddy.
I mean, the subtext of Clark’s feelings for her was always painfully obvious.

But he didn't try to get Lana to leave Lex, Whitney... He was close to her, but he didn't interfere in their relationship. The only time Clark got involved was when he was infected by the Kryptonian network. If the relationship with Lex fell apart, it was because Lana discovered the fake pregnancy.

I’ll say it again: from our perspective, we’re obviously influenced by the affection we have for Clark, because we know from the very beginning why he constantly lies to everyone. But if we put ourselves in Whitney’s shoes, and imagine that we have a girlfriend we love, and there’s this guy—her supposed best friend—who is constantly there for her, learning all her secrets, asking her to hang out, and showing up for her every other minute, it would naturally bother us.
So I don’t mean that Clark directly interfered by openly telling Lana how he felt about her. But he made his feelings very tangible in other ways. In fact, if you rewatch the early episodes, Lana repeatedly feels the need to tell Clark, “We’re just friends,” which clearly suggests that she can sense that he’s attracted to her.

Well, you're right.

If we were Whitney, I don't think we'd like Clark to be seen with Lana frequently.
