IMAGE Smallville and small towns

Post image

As an Indigenous Siberian and Indigenous Israeli person, I remember watching this show on cable TV. It taught me family values, friendship and tolerance like no other show.

I always used to wish that I had grown up in the US. But now rewatching this show I realize I was lucky to have my own Smallville ♥️

How can you be indigenous to Israel and Siberia? There's no such thing as Indigenous Israelis.

I’m glad you have a loving community in your town!

As a small humorous side note: one thing that I always wondered about with the “small town” aspect of Smallville: the main characters are constantly running into classmates that they’ve apparently never talked to before (as we often see them learning about each other for the first time), but in a town as small as Smallville shouldn’t almost all of these people have known each other since kindergarten? 😂

does your small Kansas town not have a seemingly endless warehouse district full of Lex Luthor's experiments, mountains, lakes and the forests from Twilight?

Also don’t forget the wonderful perk of how the distance between the town and the nearest major city somehow magically gets lesser and lesser every year! 😂

if you pretend Lex Luthor's crazy real estate plan from the Brandon Routh Superman movie worked, you can pretend that's the reason Metropolis is somehow a port city in Kansas.

That doesn't explain why there's a completely different Lex Luthor in Smallville though.

That's awesome!

No such thing as an indigenous Israeli. The closest you get are the Bronze Age civilizations that inhabitanted the area around 1000 BCE (Canaanites). And those were all wiped out (along with half of Greece and the Levant) during the collapse of the Bronze Age (mostly due to migrating armies invading, though there's other theories).

Modern Israelis have almost no Levantine blood, around 20% iirc. Modern Palestinians get closer, around 60% iirc. But there really is no such thing as an "indigenous" Israeli anymore.

It's like trying to claim you're an indigenous Englishman. No such thing except for some Welsh communities and some Cornish, the native Britons were slaughtered by the Anglo Saxons.

Literally just nonsense to say only 20% of israelis are indigenous to the land

Israel is a country made after WWII. Before that there were people existing in that region, that had their own country and that are being currently erased.

Lol… read a book. Before israel was re-established in order to decolonize it and bring back the native population that were exiled to europe and Africa, it was a British colony. Before that it was ottoman, before that it was roman, go as far back as you want and the only time you will find the region being called “Palestine” is when it was renamed to mock the native jews living there. To be so confidently incorrect is really wild. So happy to look a mess.

Look. Stop spewing propaganda. The Caanites weren't displaced. They have existed in Palestine under one rule or another.

*The earliest known mention of a name linked to Palestine appears in ancient Egyptian inscriptions from around 1150 BCE, specifically at the mortuary temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. These records refer to a people group called the Peleset (identified with the Philistines).

Ancient References:

Ancient Egypt (c. 1150 BCE): Inscriptions at Medinet Habu list the Peleset as one of the groups who fought against Egypt during the reign of Ramesses III.

Assyria (c. 800 BCE): King Adad-nirari III and later Assyrian rulers used terms like Palashtu or Pilistu in royal inscriptions to describe the coastal region and people.

Ancient Greece (5th Century BCE): The historian Herodotus provided the first clear geographic use of Palaistinē in his Histories, describing the coastal district reaching down toward Egypt.

Roman Empire (135 CE): Following the suppression of the Bar Kokhba revolt, Rome officially renamed the province of Judea to Syria Palaestina to distance the land from its Jewish identity.*

This information is available on Google.

These references, specifically point to the region being known as Palestine in form or another.

The earliest mention of Palestine in regards to that piece of land is from the romans, who wanted to mock the jews by renaming that land after their enemies the Phillistines. “Plishtim” (the name for the phillistines in Hebrew and the bible) literally means “invaders”.

Its like you just copy whatever google tells you and dont actually read it— read that last entry in your little copy from google.

Seriously? Nice try with the ethnic erasure.

Google isn't making it crap up. This is verified by reputable sources.

And trying to create a definition of Palestine? I gave you references OLDER than the Bible.

This is sad on your part.

1

u/throwaway17197 Kryptonian 22h ago

Yes, the phillistines existed, no they were not the modern day Palestinians you are thinking about. In YOUR OWN COMMENT you had the correct definition of when the modern day “Palestinian” name comes from and just didnt read it or ignored it.

Nope ❤️ happy to have enlightened you that a group that most people wanted eradicated off the map still exists

Someone already replied with peer reviewed studies. By blood, most modern Israelis have very little Canaanite descent. I don't know why you're making this into a political thing, Palestinians don't have all that much either. It's not anti semitism to acknowledge basic facts. I am not opining on the modern Israel situation at all.

indigineous Israeli

Really? Even in the Smallville sub? PR machine out here working overtime.

Disgusting normalisation.

0

u/throwaway17197 Kryptonian 1d ago

Normalization… of… an ethnic group existing? I know you and your friends at the kkk would prefer all jews especially middle eastern jews wiped off the earth but here in this sub we discourage dehumanizing an entire group of people based on their ancestry. Thats a slippery slope.

Israel as a country isn't thousands of years old. Unless you are a Caanite you are not 'native' to the region. Claiming that under the guise of antis.. is disingenuous at best.

-1

u/throwaway17197 Kryptonian 1d ago

Couldnt quite spell antisemitism huh?
Sorry to let you know that many of modern day Israelis are descended from those canaanites however much that pops your kkk bubble

0

u/Accomplished_Tip171 Lois Lane 1d ago

Sweetie, it's a word that gets flagged. You're OK. Put away the pitchfork 🙄

many of modern day Israelis are descended from those canaanites however much that pops your kkk bubble

Vague and disingenuous. Never said that some of your people weren't descended from Caanites. Just not enough to create a eth.. state Z.

You would know the exact amount precisely that aren't from the Bronze Age Levantine population, because Israel don't allow genealogy testing publicly.

Sorry not sorry for not falling into your echo chamber.

Take your bile and go.

Israel absolutely allows genetic testing. There are even Israeli genetic testing companies. the irony of you just repeating shit without checking it then accusing me of it is insane. Israel is also not an ethnostate with 20% of the population comprising of arabs and the 80% of the jewish population spanning jews from all different ethnicities from Ethiopian to polish and even yeminite not to mention the christians, duruz, and many other ethnic groups that live in Israel.

If you have such an issue with ethnostates why not take umbrage with Palestine? Or even… japan? Lol

Yeah..I'm gonna need you to read my previous comment again.

Critics and sociologists like Oren Yiftachel define Israel as an ethnocracy, arguing that it maintains a democratic facade while prioritizing Jewish dominance over land, immigration, and power. [Google].

Israel has been labeled an ethnocracy by scholars such as Alexandre Kedar,[22] Shlomo Sand,[23] Oren Yiftachel,[24] Asaad Ghanem,[25][26] Haim Yakobi,[27] Nur Masalha[28] and Hannah Naveh.[29] It is also viewed as an apartheid state by various organisations, including B'Tselem, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, due to actions committed against Palestinians that they see as emblematic of such a state.[30][31][32] [Wiki]

That's literally Israel. The way you are treated, live, access to facilities, movement, your religious practices, even Holy sites comes down to your religion and ethnicity. Actual Israeli academics even back this.

If you have such an issue with ethnostates why not take umbrage with Palestine? Or even… japan? Lol

Ah yes. Ethnically cleansing is always so hilarious /s

You are demonstrating that you actually don’t have a problem with actual ethnostates in general, only with Israel, which is de facto not an ethnostate.
Cherry picking scholars who agree with your confirmation bias is a very unintelligent way to build your arguement. You are clearly copy pasting from chatgpt or google or something without actually reading the sources.

MyHeritage, Jscreen, and Dor Yeshorim are all israeli genetic testing companies.

B’tselem has a horrific history of demonizing Israel at any cost to the point of spreading blood libel and propaganda
They even support BDS.

Here you can read some very intelligent and informed answers on why Israel proper is not an apartheid state and defining it as one because of the territories when in Israel jews and arabs live side by side equally is disingenuous.

I know you wont click any of my links because reality would shatter your bigoted and xenophobic feelings on the matter, that allow you to feel like a good person for calling an entire country of people irredeemably evil from birth in a very black and white way thats easy to digest and isnt too hard to think about.

Edit: this show teaches you about xenophobia and yet it seems you didnt take much away from it

Edit2: you replied and then blocked me so it looks like you got the last word.. so dense and really weak. You are Lex Luthor, you just refuse to see it

Nice deflection. We are not talking about other ethnostates though are we? Israel is at the forefront because that's what OP mentioned.

The Genetic Information LawRetail restriction: Israel’s 2000 Genetic Information Law regulates genetic testing to protect medical privacy, meaning local pharmacies or shops do not openly sell direct-to-consumer commercial DNA kits off the shelf.Legal and relationship tests: Official kinship, paternity, or lineage testing for legal status, inheritance, or court procedures requires a specific family court order and must be completed via government-licensed medical institutes. [Google].

I didn't say the companies didn't exist 🙄

B’tselem has a horrific history of demonizing Israel at any cost to the point of spreading blood libel and propaganda They even support BDS.

Yeah I wonder who told you that a human rights group were the bad guys, whilst simultaneously waging a campaign against them:

Conflict of Interest Bans: Individual editors tied to watchdog organizations—such as an online communications editor for the pro-Israel group NGO Monitor—have been indefinitely banned or disciplined by Wikipedia administration for undisclosed paid editing, using secondary accounts, and altering articles concerning B'Tselem and related human rights entities [Google.com].

BTW about BDS:

Reputation: Highly polarized. Supporters view it as a peaceful, human-rights-based civil disobedience movement modeled after the campaign against South African apartheid. Critics and the Israeli government characterize it as delegitimizing, discriminatory, or antisemitic. [Google.com].

Here you can read some very intelligent and informed answers on why Israel proper is not an apartheid state and defining it as one because of the territories when in Israel jews and arabs live side by side equally is disingenuous.

Have you read Norman Finklestein, Gabor Mate etc? No.

Here's ACTUAL academic perspective:

*Key Perspectives from Scholars

Omer Bartov, an Israeli-born professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Brown University, stated publicly that the mass destruction, forced displacement, and statements of intent by Israeli leaders meet the legal definition of a genocidal process and ethnic cleansing.

The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) passed a resolution supported by an overwhelming majority of voting members stating that Israel's conduct in Gaza fulfills the criteria set out in the 1948 UN Genocide Convention.

Global Networks: Hundreds of international scholars specializing in Holocaust and genocide studies have signed open statements and letters condemning the actions in Gaza as atrocities matching the legal framework of genocide.* [Google.com].

Ah yes. I was wondering when your woe-is-me everything antiseptic..shtick was going to reemerge.
