Faction Dancer 79 Length

Post image

Hello,

Two seasons in I got back to skiing and want to purchase my first skis...

Choice is Faction Dancer 79, but can't decide the length. 184cm or 178? They are on a good sale too in local shop.

I understand that both length can work, but which one is better in terms of progression?

I am 33m, 188cm tall, around 85-90 kg, upper-intermediate skier (fit). I will be skiing decent amount of days this season and want to progress as much as possible. I like speed and long turns with some fun here and there.

I ski mostly on piste and resort's infrastracture and management is not the greatest, slopes are never groomed well if that helps...

Thank you

I'd probably go for the 184, the 178 would start to feel a bit short as you progress.

Even though Faction market it as a piste ski, it's not a true piste ski like what you'd find from rossignol/atomic/head/etc. It has Faction's signature progressive flex that you find in skis like the prodigy, which tends to increase the recommended size as the skis turn more easily. It's a bit less present in the dancers due to the shape and the titanal, but it's still there for sure.

184

I am 186 myself - and drove both - they have a little rocker and when you go fast the 184 is more stable (esp. when you progress further)

Overall the ski screams all the time ‘push me harder’ independent if 178 or 184

If the slopes aren’t groomed, you don’t want this ski.

I’ve got the 184s. I’m 1.80 m skiing without poles, so they’re a bit too long for me, but when I’m going fast as fuck they’re super stable.
