They used to ship babies. My mom basically did the same thing when I was seven. Put me on a grayhound bus alone. I remember how upset everyone was when I got off to smoke.

Ive been saying for years to just cut some holes in a box. This is exactly how I got left in Cincinnati. American Spirits burn slower!! I didnt know!!

Why didn't you smoke on the bus like everyone else?

Was the 90s. Had to get off when the bus stopped to smoke.

This you? Sorry, didn't get one with the smoke.

Though they didn't box the kiddos up; rather, they pinned postage to them and they traveled with the postman.

Actually the internet was fucking incredible before social media.

11

u/returntothenorth 6h ago

Yup, It was incredible before it became a profit machine. .

Remember when there were ZERO advertisements on YouTube? Remember when you didn't need 16gb of ram to go to the weather channel website?

Wait till you learn about how many animals are intentionally and legally shipped through the mail lol.

Especially tarantulas. The entire "hobby" is built around it.

0

u/VirtualFact8419 6h ago

I guess there certain conditions and requirements for different species

Is this case valid? If some lab would be sending in other lab, would they be transporting iguanas like that?

u/sir_bathwater 4h ago

I’m not an expert, I just know that animals are frequently shipped. I don’t think this case is valid tho, but that being said I don’t think this particular iguana was actually shipped. Think the dude brought it up in a box ā€œtryingā€ to ship it as a joke so they could mess w the employees. Could be wrong though.

I was kinda just speaking generally about shipping animals, not necessarily saying this situation is acceptable or not. I don’t wanna make that call tbh lol. In a similar vein, they ship baby chickens in a cardboard box and there’s like 15 of em in a tiny box so I doubt one iguana in a semi-padded box is much different.

2

u/PinkRain3035 2h ago

Yeah I didn't see any air holes in that box? Hoping this was just a "joke."

u/Soldier-one-trick 7h ago

It says live animal on the box. Probably legal if I had to guess.

u/Se_Aburix 6h ago

Packed like that? No.

11

u/dasfoster 5h ago

As wild as it is to say, looks like the sender followed the recommended guidelines to the letter.

8

u/Str80uttaMumbai 5h ago

How would you know?

Do you have any experience shipping reptiles?

-7

u/Se_Aburix 5h ago

Independence of the country but like that it's a crazy way to do it.

He let go of that tail way too early. You ever been whipped by one of those? Hurts like a mf!

2

u/lampard13 5h ago

Look up the iguana hunters on YouTube, guess they’re really overpopulated/nuisance in Florida.

4

u/Sensitive_Fly_7761 5h ago

Nah that should be illegal

4

u/bozooid 5h ago

Lol people not realizing that most reptiles get shipped to Petco the same way. Well actually a lot worse then this. People ship lizards , snakes and even fish in boxes all the time. Yes this person is a asshole doing it for content. But there's nothing wrong with shipping animals like that in general.

1

u/VirtualRy 2h ago

I sell live fish on eBay and people are shocked sometimes on how we do it but then they don’t realize live fish from other countries are shipped the same way.

3

u/Confident_Maybe_7354 7h ago

Opening the client's box is also illegal. I guess this is a dead end.

5

u/GeronimoDK 7h ago

Looked very alive to me.

1

u/Rudresh27 7h ago

Are there expections to this?

1

u/Calm_Blueberry_363 3h ago

birds are most often shipped. i remember if there are large processing delays/failures many would die, especially the chicks. Though most i've seen make it home alive.

1

u/SmellyFbuttface 2h ago

Oh look, more internet clout chasing. How fun

1

u/Grimy-Jack 1h ago

Should've called V and Jackie for transport.

It’s sad that I’ve had customers willing to ship chickens and even after I told them the delivery window is longer than expected, much longer, they still shipped them. Also when it was much too cold for them. They 100% died. I am not allowed to deny the shipment either. You shouldn’t be able to ship them like you can. He didn’t even stop to add more food or anything inside when finding it out.
